#1: Pilot Chapter

In a far and unknown location of Russia, an abandoned and deserted city is shown. Multiple shots portray its desolate nature, all the way to an entrance that leads to underground staircases. The panels lead to huge iron entrances, which open, showing the huge and beautiful underground city. After numerous shots, the camera leads to a school, into a huge Main Hall, where about a thousand kids make formation in uniform and get ready to sing an anthem, in front of teachers and scientists, as the sirens start playing music:

Like the sun above the desert, like the moon above the sea, our eternal light shall illuminate, and guide the world into a better tomorrow!

"Strength and Science" is our motto, "Strength and Science" is our ideal, here at Tchaikovsky Academy, with great vigor, our talent shall be forged!

Always forward, always forward, we shall fight, and fulfill our mission, here in Tchaikovsky Academy and forever after, no matter the obstacles!

We shall stand united as brothers, we shall study, become stars of the future, and with the result of our efforts... WORLD PEACE WILL BE OBTAINED

(Note: make various shots of different kids throughout the anthem, singing with determination. Make it feel imposing and inspiring)

A teacher in what seems military gear, implied to be the director, raises his fist in front off all the kids.

_Teacher: LONG LIVE CHAIKOVSKY ACADEMY!

_All the kids: HORRAAAAAAY!

(Next Scene)

As everyone in the hall applauds, a transition is made. Now, a new shot shows what seems to be a police station, with a security guard on his computer and a hallway of solitary confinement cells next to his desk. The doors of the station are open, as the legs of someone with a white coat are shown. The sound of steps is emphasized, as the unknown person approaches the guard. It is revealed to be Ramona Reznov, with an entire page just showing off her fashionable design.

_Guard: HA?! DIRECTOR REZNOV?!

_Ramona: Yes, good morning, how have you been?

(The guard's nervousness is clear.)

_Guard: Uh, ah, good morning director! Sorry for my bad mannerism! I'm so sorry!

_Ramona: ...It's fine.

_Guard: But, I mean, what do I owe this honor, director? This is very uncommon, haha.

_Ramona: ...You see, I was checking the attendance of our students at their school, just before they sang the anthem. You know, for obvious reasons. But... it turns out, one of them was missing, and that's because...HE IS LOCATED RIGHT HERE, UNDER SOLITARY CONFINEMENT, SINCE YESTERDAY.

(Dramatic pause)

_Guard: Uhm, yes, we have one of the kids here since yesterday. But... why would our director...

_Ramona: This is a very severe punishment, it should not be taken lightly. Now, I don't oppose the idea of doing this if necessary. However...

IN THIS COMPLEX, I HAVE THE FINAL WORD ON EVERYTHING, UNDERSTOOD?

_Guard: ... Yes, Director Reznov, I understand.

_Ramona: Good, now open his cell, I want to have a conversation with him.

(Next Scene)

Ramona and the guard stand in front of a door cell. The guard opens the cell, and immediately Ramona stands inside. A kid is shown sitting next to the wall, with his regular clothing, but looking faded out, not reacting at all to what has been happening so far. He has fully laid brown hair, with thin strings of black hair spread out, and a few of them going in front, covering his forehead just a little. Discomfort shows in Ramona's face.

_Ramona: Leave, let me talk to him alone.

_Guard: But...the kid may...

_Ramona: He's a kid, not a serial killer, now let me talk to him, got it?

Ramona stares, and the guard doesn't hesitate and leaves. Silence fills the cell, as the kid shows no reaction at all.

_Ramona: Student 1033, what happened?

(The student slowly reacts and turns his face)

_Student: ...D-Director Reznov?

_Ramona: Yes, it is I, could you tell me what happened?

_Student: ...

_Ramona: I read the document filed by your teacher, and the reason you are here. Regardless of what they reported, I would like to hear your version of the story.

_Student: ...

_Ramona: That's an order, Student 1033.

_Student: ...

We were at the training camp, playing paintball. We were two teams, competing, and in the enemy team, Student 1004 was present. I was trying to reach the flag, flanking with the obstacles, but then... I suddenly met face to face with Student 1004.

I got scared, and shoot him many times, at almost point-blank range. Clearly, I had hurt him. It wasn't until the game ended that the others realized what happened.

Then yesterday, when chemistry class ended, Student 1004, together with others, surrounded me. "I am your superior, how dare you make a fool out of me", that's what he said. We got into a fist fight, but eventually I put him into a wristlock, on the ground.

He was angry, but I warned him that if he insisted, I would break his wrist. But yet, he was struggling to break it, and I feared letting him go. I got scared, so...when I realized he was about to break free...I...

CRACK

(Note: Make a full flashback with this. Each time a paragraph ends, take time to show silent panels and transition to the next part)

_Ramona: So, you broke his wrist...

_Student: Yes...director...

_Ramona: I see, clearly an action of auto defense. However, that is not the whole picture. Apart from this, I've also heard rumors that you are quite problematic, and you don't get along with the kids of your class, in general, not just Student 1004. From your perspective, why do you think that's the case?

_Student: ...I...I don't know,

_Ramona: Elaborate further, Student 1033.

_Student: I just don't like them... I don't trust them...

(Silence)

_Ramona: Really, is that the only reason, Student 1033?

_Student: Uhm...y-yes...

_Ramona: ...

Ramona approaches him and kneels with one leg. Make a panel of half a page for this scene.

_Ramona:

Listen, we are not meant to like everyone around us, that is just not possible. However, what we always must do, IS COEXIST IN HARMONY. For example, do you think I'm friends with all my co-workers? Many of them hate me, but that's ok, because they can't say straight up to the Head Director their negative feelings, since at the very least they know how to RESPECT the environment we work in.

_Student: But how do I coexist with people that want to hurt me?

_Ramona: Hm? Just avoid them, you've already shown you are stronger, right? You got to lock him down, so...

_Student: I guess...

(Silence)

_Ramona: What I want you to understand, is that there's always an objective, there's always a reason and a higher purpose for our actions. No matter the situation, or the hardships... ALWAYS FOCUS ON THE OBJECTIVE AHEAD OF YOU.

As Ramona says the last, a warming smile is shown on her face, and Student 1033 notices it.

_Ramona: ...And your objective right now, is to study and work hard for the sake of humanity, understood?

_Student: Yes...director...

(Next Scene)

Ramona stands up and begins to exit the cell. Student 1033, now fully aware, stares at her leaving.

_Student: Di-Director Reznov...

_Ramona: Hm? What is it?

_Student: CAN I PLEASE LEAVE THIS CELL?

Wide shot of the cell.

_Ramona: ...Hm...Ah...Honestly, I think it's not possible.

_Student: Really, why?

_Ramona: One way to look at this cell is to protect others from you, but the other one... IS TO PROTECT YOU FROM THE REST.

_Student: Uh?

_Ramona: Right now, your class has a lot of tension because of the incident you've had. If you go back right now, everything will become even more tense and more hostile, because they'll see you as someone dangerous. But that's why you are here, in a location unknown to all the students, so that they forget about you for a while and calm down. Does that make sense for you?

_Student: Uhm.. I guess so...

_Ramona: Eventually the teachers will have a talk with your classmates, they'll make sure everything will be peaceful when you go back. Until then, just stay here.

_Student: Ok...

Ramona starts looking around the cell, looking at its details and realizing how oppressive and suffocating it truly is.

_Ramona: ...You know... now that I think about it, how about we move you to a more comfortable cell? This one is...way too awful, we'll give you a better place to wait for this problem to solve itself. How is that?

_Student: Oh, thank you, Director Reznov.

Even then, the kid shows little enthusiasm, but is relieved. Ramona smiles and decides to leave, but just before exiting the cell, she gets a notification on her phone. When she reads it, a shocked and afraid expression covers her face.

HUH? WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!
