Chapter 3: The Ghost
Hades froze, taking in a sharp breath as his body tensed.
"Where...Where did you find that?"
"There's a black chest upstairs that has tons of pictures like these. Who. Is. She?"
Pit gave another stern look.
Hades closed the book and got up, facing the angel.
"Give me the photo."
"Tell me who this is? Please?"
"It's none of your business Pit, now give me the photo."
"No." The angel looked up at the god. "I won't."
Hades grind his teeth and clenched his fists. A black fire-like aura surrounded him.
Pit stuttered, "Please Hades."
He began to get scared but still holding tightly onto the photo.
"Give it. Or else." The familiar red and black markings from his god form snaked up his body and Pit backed up a little holding it close to his chest.
"Final warning, Pit."
The god took off his glasses, his eyes filling up with black and red, piercing at his soul.
Pit was terrified now so he did the only thing that he knew how to. He ran down the hall and away from Hades, screaming.
"GET BACK HERE!!!"
The gods voice boomed through the house as he chased after Pit. The angel ran back up into attic and tried to hid among the boxes and dust clouds.
A few seconds later, Hades charged up into the attic.
"GET OUT OF THERE, YOU COWARD!!!!"
'I am one with the dust you can't see me!' Pit though to himself.
The god looked around the attic until his eyes lay on the black and golden chest.
"....."
Pit watched as he knelt down next to it.
"....I miss you so much...."
The god rummaged through the chest. Pit saw the gods markings slowly starting to disappear.
Hades held up a picture of them together smiling and laughing.
Pit tried to get a better view of it, but Hades placed it back in the chest before he could.
Hades sighed and looked into the chest again, taking out some sort of t-shirt with weird markings and words that Pit couldn't read.
Hades chuckled and placed it back into the chest.
"Anime Central. That's what you literally were."
He chuckled a little and smiled. And not a smirk. But a genuine kind, soft smile. Pit smiled as he started to come out of his hiding spot but still "being one with the dust".
He came behind Hades and placed the photo on the ground.
"I'm sorry..." Pit said softy blowing his cover completely. "I'll leave now."
Hades growled and grabbed him by the shirt, turning around and glaring at him. Pit gulped.
"Never. Come. Up here. Again."
Pit nodded and tried to break free from his grip.
"Y-Yeah, of course. Sorry f-for sneaking around. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Pleasedon'tkillme."
Hades set him down and he ran back downstairs.
~~~
Hades lay in his room, looking up at the ceiling. His heart aced with sadness and loss. The clock started to chime as the ghosts came out and sang.
This time, it was something in a different language. It was cheerful. Hades sat up and looked over to the other side of the room to see a beautiful glass vase with different gems. The vase had a lid on it. There was a white floating ball with a pink aura. It glowed brighter when it heard the singing.
"You like that song, don't ya?"
The vase glowed a little and flickered like it was happy.
Hades chuckled and smiled.
"I thought so."
The ghosts continued to sing making the nighttime silence turn into a beautiful symphony.
Hades lay back in bed, watching the vase flicker and glow. He smiled and slowly fell asleep.
~~~~~~~
Pit was outside in the rain Palutena still hasn't answered him, he was started to get worried.
He bit his lip as he looked up at the dark gray sky.
"Lady Palutena..."
Still nothing. He looked down and saw his legs were shaking he started to rub his hands together and blowing to them for warmth, he was scared to go back to the house and all he wanted to do was go home.
'Why did Lady Palutena have to choose HERE, of all places?!' Pit sighed as he thought to himself.
He laid-back and let the rain pour onto his face.
"I wonder how Pittoo is?"
He sighed again as he looked up at the thundering skies.
He shivered. Suddenly, it felt a lot colder outside.
He rubbed his hands against his arms. His eyes widened as he saw a pair of transparent arms cover his eyes.
"Huh?! W-who is there?!"
Pit was confused and cold.
He heard a giggle and the arms removed themselves. A ghostly transparent woman floated infront of Pit. That woman from the painting and the pictures.
"It's you?!! Who are you?"
"My name is Persephone!"
Her voice was soft and kind, a little echo-y but beautiful all the same.
She smiled, "You must be Pit!"
"Y-yeah. How do you know Hades?"
"We were...sort of a thing, you know?"
She smiled.
"Oh... Sorry I didn't know..." Pit looked down at his feet.
"I don't blame you. Not many people know. Why won't you get inside, you'll catch your death out here!"
"But what about Hades? I am positive he doesn't want me back there...."
Persephone blew some hair from her face.
"Hades, Shmades! It won't help if you're out here! Get inside!"
"Alright."
He smiled and ran toward the house pulling open the door and dripping wet.
"Dry up and get some sleep. The storm should clear up in a few days and Palutena will come get you, okay?"
Pit smiled and nodded.
Phersephone giggled and kissed his forehead.
"Night, Pit-Kun~!"
Pit blushed.
"Thanks Persephone."
She smiled and floated up, flying through a wall, out of Pit's sight.
'She's nice,' Pit thought to himself.
He went back up to his guest room and covered himself in the blankets smiling as he fell sleep fast.
~~~
Pit woke up the next morning and stretched, yawning. He looked outside it was still raining but he smiled a little.
'Persephone's nice! I wonder if Hades can tell me anything about her!' He frowned at the next thought, 'IF he'll tell me anything about her...I probably should just not bring her up. Heck I shouldn't even be here.'
He sighed as he got up and got ready for the day. Moping around won't do any good.
He left his robes in the closet soaking wet from last night and the previous night he went downstairs quietly to see Hades reading another book.
He stayed silent for a moment.
"Ah...H-Hey! Sorry about yesterday!" He smiled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.
"I-I didn't mean t-to uh... Sorry..."
"...."
"....w-well, I, uh--"
"Her name was Phersephone."
