Visible Brad
Arabella's POV
"5, 6, 7, 8!" My dad counted.
Henry, Schwoz, Charlotte, and I took off our hats and kneeled down. "Ray, this is lame!"
The five of us were in the Man Cave rehearsing a musical number for my dad and Mary's wedding. He wants to impress her with his musical talent, which doesn't exist by the way, and I've made it very clear that this isn't happening. I'm singing an original song at the wedding with Charlotte and Piper, but that's the only singing that will be happening there.
"What?" My dad asked us.
"And we all quit!" Henry sang and we went to turn away, but my dad stopped us.
"Wait! Wait!" He called and we turned back to him, "you guys can't quit! Come on! The wedding is next month and I want to impress Mary with my musical talent!"
"What musical talent?" Henry asked him and I chuckled.
"This wedding is important to me and I want Mary to love it," my dad explained to us and I smiled.
"She will!" I said, "as long as you don't sing."
He rolled his eyes and the elevator doors opened. Piper walked in with a box in her hands and she was wearing a sophisticated suit. I forgot she knows about this place.
"Sorry I'm late," she apologized. "Traffic, am I right? So, is there assigned seating? Or can I just grab any open desk?"
"We don't have desks," Henry told her.
"Righttttt! Open workspace! Very modern, kind of a start-up vibe! I like it!" Piper mentioned and Henry and I shared a look.
"Uhhh, you don't work here," my dad told Piper, going up to her.
Mary walked down from the sprocket with Violet and Ray panicked.
"Mary!" He smiled tossing his hat away and I rolled my eyes, "hey honey!"
"Hey sweetie," she smiled and Ray gave her an awkward smile. "Everything okay?"
"Yes, yes," he nodded and looked back at us.
"Everything is okay," I grinned at her and Mary nodded with a concerned smile.
"Alright," she said and walked over to me. I watched my dad basically breathed again when she left and I giggled.
He's so nervous about this wedding.
The elevator doors open and Jasper popped out, 'yo, Piper! Phone call for you on line two!"
"Take a message," she told him.
"You're the boss," Jasper grinned and went back up to the store.
"She's not the boss! I'm the boss," my dad exclaimed and Mary turned to him. "When Mary's not around." He grabbed Piper's stuff shoved it back in the box, "oh and you don't work here."
"Oh, well, that's too bad, because I heard about a crime that just went down at the Museum of Boring History," Piper informed my dad and this got all of our attention.
Henry and I stopped taking cute selfies as Charlotte looked up at her. Mary looked up from Violet to listen.
"Huh?" I said.
"Oh, yeah?"
"What happened?"
"Somone stole the Swellview Declaration of Independence," Piper explained and this alarmed all of us.
"Oh no," I said as we stood.
"Really?"
"That's terrible."
"Are you serious? Save those pics, Airy," Henry told me and I nodded, saving the pics we took. "We gotta do something-"
"Hold on, we don't even know if it happened, okay?" My dad told us, "I'm not just going to run off and start breaking teeth because patty pantsuit here says so."
"It's all over social media," Piper told us. "You guys don't follow Juicy Crimes and Memes."
"I will now."
"Sounds boring."
"I love memes and crimes."
"I don't care."
"How do you spell 'juicy?'"
"You don't get crime tips from meme accounts," my dad remarked.
"Well, let's at least hear what it says," Charlotte advised and Piper read the latest crime news.
"Purp broke in this morning. Standard B&E except witnesses say a guy in a mask grabbed the Declaration, turned himself into a pigeon, and then disappeared into a puff of smoke," Piper explained to us and pretended to drink something. "But that's none of my business, Kermit drinking a cup of tea."
"Woah, wait," Henry said. "puff of smoke, a pigeon that sounds like, uh, like a magic trick."
"It sounds like a steaming load of horse shota!" My dad snapped and Mary rubbed his back as I rolled my eyes.
"Wow," Henry said right as the emergency call went off.
"Emergency call," Charlotte and I say as Mary walked into the back so Violet doesn't wake up from her nap.
"Oh, no no!" My dad stopped us, backing up to the monitor. "This a real crime! That really happened."
My dad picked up the phone and answered it.
He smirked, "Captain Man emergency line, how may I punch your problem?"
I half-listened to the conversation but drowned it out when I figured out it was about the stolen declaration. Piper stood there listening as Henry, Charlotte and I ignored it.
My dad ended the call and Piper went up to him, "so, who was it?"
"Wrong number," my dad replied quickly.
"Really?"
"Yes, they were trying to order a pizza," my dad remarked with irritation and began to lead Piper away. "What are you even doing here? Why don't you go give those work clothes back to the grown-up you stole them from because I'm the boss and you don't work here. It's time to go back to nursery school little girl and just remember that, uh, everything you said was wrong, okay? So, bye-bye, bye-bye!" The elevator doors closed and my dad turned to us, "okay, everything she said was right."
"Let's go!" Henry declared as we stood up. "Wait, where are we going?"
Piper popped out of the elevator, "I'd start by going to the Magic Palace, but that's none of my business. Kermit drinking tea."
I giggled as my dad raced over there and shut the doors on her face.
"Get out of here!"
"Good luck!"
"That's actually a good idea," I mention to my dad.
"Henry and I are going to the Magic Palace because I had the idea cause it's my idea," my dad rambled over his words and he began to say a bunch of nonsense that I just didn't care enough to listen to. "I'm the boss of this place! This place is where I am the boss, okay? Not, you, not him, not her, but I am! I AM THE BOSSSSSS!"
"But Mary-"
"I AM THE BOSS WHEN SHE'S NOT AROUNDDDD!"
"Dude, you need help," Henry advised.
"Those medications aren't doing anything," I added and everyone agreed.
"I need help coming up with a bubble-blowing rhyme," my dad shrugged. "That's about it though."
Henry's phone buzzed and checked it, "oh, it's Piper, she sent us a rhyme."
"Are you kidding me?" My dad asked and I chuckled.
"I love that girl."
"No, I'm not kidding you. She said, uh, 'let's go on a mission, to catch a magician," Henry read to us. "I actually like that one a lot."
"Very catchy," I agreed,
"So good," Charlotte nodded and my dad didn't respond to that. He just glared heavily as he and Henry popped the gumballs into their mouths.
I don't think he understands how much he and Piper are alike. He's not used to dealing with someone with the same personality type and it's throwing him off.
——
-Later-
Henry and my dad were still at the Magic Palace. Char and Jasp left during that time and Schwoz went to take a nap or something, I don't know.
I was sitting on the couch with Mary, who was holding Violet and feeding her milk.
"So, a little birdy told me that you've been contacted by a certain college recently?" Mary randomly brought up and my head shot up from my phone to look at her.
"What?"
"Juilliard," she added and I shrugged at her.
"I applied and they've emailed me a couple of times," I muttered sheepishly and she set Violet's bottle down.
"Bella," she sighed. "Juilliard is one of the biggest performing arts schools and they don't just accept anyone. Some of the biggest actors graduated from there."
"I applied as a joke and they obviously knew me from somewhere," I remarked. "I'm not even sure if I want to go."
"Swellview's Got Talent, The Musical Curse Over Swellview," Mary told me. "They've had opportunities to see you perform and obviously see potential and I do as well. Not only does that make me proud to be your teacher, but it makes me proud of you. Bella, don't throw this away."
I sighed, looking up the emails from Juilliard. The principal himself has contacted me once which means this is serious.
"What about my dad and Henry?" I asked her and showed her the emails. "I can't just leave them, especially when I'm engaged to Henry."
"They want to offer you a full scholarship," Mary told me and I nodded. "Bella, you have to tell everyone."
I rubbed my temple with frustration, "that's what I'm stressed about. Henry has these ideas for our future and I don't wanna ruin his ideas cuz of my dream school."
"That's something you have to ask yourself," Mary told me and took my hand. "What's more important Henry or your career?"
I leaned back and let out a sigh. Why can't it be both?
——
-The Next Day-
I was still stressing about the decision I have to make. Last night, I called Julliard and they would be very excited to have me attend next year if I choose their school. So many opportunities could come my way if I choose them, but my future with Henry could get jeopardized at the same time. I agreed to marry Henry for a reason, yet at the same time, I've been dreaming of this opportunity for years. I'm so stressed out about this, I didn't sleep last night, I haven't eaten since yesterday morning. This is really getting to me and I need to figure it out.
Henry hasn't noticed my odd behavior yet, but he will soon and I don't want to worry him. He already has a lot on his own plate to worry about.
Anyway, I was in the Man Cave with Henry, Char, Jasper, Mary, Schwoz, and my dad. We were all trying to perform magic tricks, so Henry and my dad could get into the Magic Palace because turns out you need to be a magician to get into the Magician's Lounge.
Shocker.
I wasn't really doing much, I was just messing with my powers and pretending like I was doing something. Like I do in school but without the power part of course.
"Airy," I heard Henry say and I looked up at him.
"Hm?"
"You're not even doing anything, love," he told me and I glanced away for a moment.
"And?"
He rolled his eyes and looked at my dad.
"Ray, get off the computer and start learning a magic trick," Henry ordered my father, who was at the computer looking at something.
"No," he denied.
"You have to do a magic trick to get into the Magician's Lounge," Henry informed him.
"Well, we're going to learn plenty of magic tricks at this magic camp I just found!" My dad exclaimed, gesturing to the ad of a magic camp and I groaned as Henry praised him.
"Nice, dude!" Henry smiled and I rolled my eyes at their excitement of a lame camp that's probably boring and completely useless.
"Yeah! it starts tomorrow and it costs eighteen thousand dollars," My dad smiled and we all gave him a look.
"Nope," Mary shook her head.
"What? I am not paying eighteen thousand dollars to learn a magic trick," Henry objected.
"Well, it's not just magic," My dad remarked and read the ad. "The website says we'll make friends, do some archery, and there's a huge dance at the end where we can bring Mary and Bella!"
"Heck no!"
"I ain't touching that camp!"
"We're not going to magic camp!" Henry denied again.
"Well, how else are we supposed to get in the Magician's Lounge?" My dad exclaimed, standing up. "I can't do card tricks, I can't make Schwoz disappear. Believe me, I've tried!"
Schwoz gasped, "what?!"
"I can't make objects magically levitate with my mind!" my dad continued. flinging his hand in the air and this made Schwoz yell. We all turned to find a few tools floating in the air and I yelped, grabbing Henry and Mary hid under the table.
"OMG!" I said and this got my dad excited.
"Oh my god, I'm magic! I'm magic!" My dad exclaimed, jumping toward the floating tools.
"You're magic!" Henry cheered and my dad gasped, "this changes everything!"
"It was in me the whole time!" My dad remarked.
"Do it again!" I beamed as I pulled Mary out from under the table.
"Let's see if I can make Schwoz disappear!" My dad gasped and Schwoz yelled, getting up to run away as he attempted to do so and nothing happened until my dad got knocked out by something hitting him.
We all applauded my dad and his odd, yet cool trick as he stood up.
"Amazing trick, dad," I smiled.
"Wonderful," Mary nodded and he rubbed his head.
"I didn't do that," my dad told us.
"Then who did?" Char asked.
"I'll give you a hint."
We all yelped at the familiar voice and I immediately recognized it. Henry and I held each other as we all looked around the room.
It can't be.
"He's handsome, invisible, and he's not wearing any pants," the voice told us and I made a face.
"Gross.
"TMI."
"Ewww."
My dad felt around for the invisible person that was the dreaded Invisible Brad.
"Invisible Brad," My dad called and Mary was heavily confused by this. "is that you?"
"It sure is," Brad said and we all groaned, looking down. Mary, however, was still puzzled.
"Who?" She asked, looking around.
"No one important," I told her.
"Hey!" He called and I shrugged.
"Show me one Invisible People Matter Protest and I'll change my mind," I told him. "Oh wait, you're the only invisible person."
"You little-"
"You can't just come into the Man Cave whenever you want Brad!" My dad snapped at him, breaking our argument up.
"Yes, I can," Brad said.
"Who's Brad?"
We all jumped when we heard Piper and I grabbed Henry again as Mary hid under the table.
"Can we put a bell on her?" I asked everyone.
"Piper? What are you doing here?" Henry asked his sister.
"Just made a fresh pot of coffee," She grinned. "Helps me get through the workday."
"You do not-"
"Who's Brad?" Piper asked, ignoring my dad and I went to speak, but Henry covered my mouth with his hand.
"Invisible Brad," He spoke for me and I groaned. "Some rando get tuned invisible because of Ray."
"Wasn't my fault," Ray protested.
"Was too!"
"Shut up, Brad!" My dad sneered at him and Mary popped out of the table and smiled.
"I'm back."
"He shows up every now and then," Char sighed. "Last time he was here, he tried to bury Ray and Henry alive."
I snickered at this as Brad laughed. I wasn't there to witness it, but the story was hilarious.
"It wasn't that funny Brad, I could have died," Henry mentioned as he pinched my arm and I squealed.
"I hate you so much," my dad muttered with anger.
"What are you doing here?" Schwoz asked Brad.
"I'm here to offer Ray and Henry a deal," my dad immediately denied and Mary flicked his arm.
"Just relax, hun," she told him.
"What kind of deal you looking for, Brad?' Henry asked Brad.
"You guys need to do a magic trick to get into the Magician's Lounge, right?" Brad questioned them.
"Yeah."
"That's true."
"Well..." Brad began and suddenly two of the small cups floated into the air, freaking all of us out. Mary hid again and I rolled my eyes at her. "OOOOOO MAGIC!"
Wasn't too shabby for an invisible person.
"It's a pretty good trick, dude," Henry told my dad.
"Alright, Brad, you're coming with us to the Magic Palace," my dad sighed.
"Not so fast!" We all moved back when the chair spun around and I leaned into Henry, who held me tightly. "If I help you, I want to become visible again."
I see many problems with that and I can't even see Brad.
"How am I supposed to do that, Brad?" My dad asked him.
"Not you, the little science guy, whose shower I've been sleeping in," Brad remarked and Schwoz's eyes grew in shock and hid his body. "You can do pretty much anything, so I figured you could turn me visible again."
Schwoz thought for a moment and stood up, "I think I can. I just need something to practice on. 15 cats should do it."
"Come on, Schwoz. Where are we supposed to find 15 cats?" Mary asked him, popping her head out from under the table.
"I can get you 15 cats," Piper offered. "There's a sad grandma on our street who has like 50 of them."
"Great," Schwoz smiled.
"Time to go pretend I like old people," Piper said before she finished her coffee and walked toward the elevator.
"Okay, love her!" Schwoz smiled and I cheered.
"That's my future sister-in-law," I grinned happily.
"So," Brad spoke, "do we have a deal?"
All of us looked at my father.
"Deal," He agreed.
"Yes!" Brad cheered, "you visibles just made a wise choice."
Wise is the wrong word to use in this situation. More like an ugly or frightening is better.
"Come on, kid. I got two great ideas for magician disguises," my dad told Henry, who kissed my cheek and then followed my dad over to the tubes.
"I am ready to love them," Henry mentioned before the elevator doors opened and Jasper ran in wearing a straight jacket.
"Hey, guys!" He greeted, "I learned a great magic trick."
"Don't need it."
"Already got a trick."
"But I put on this straight jacket and swallowed the key," Jasper protested with sorrow.
"So, what's the trick?" Brad asked Jasper, who yelled in fear and fell to the ground.
"AHHH!"
——
At this moment, Schwoz was trying to turn the invisible cat visible again and we were on our last cat because the last fourteen didn't work out and may cause a huge problem later on. As this was happening, Jasper has been trying to hack up the key he swallowed so he can get out of the straight jacket. It was a very disturbing sound and I was tempted to shove a vine down his throat and rip the key out.
"Quiet down, Jasper!" Piper exclaimed to him.
"Seriously!" I sighed with annoyance.
"I gotta cough up this key or- UGHHHH- I'll never get out of this straight- UGHHHH- jacket- UGHHH!" he coughed and I rolled my eyes.
Moments later, the elevator doors opened, and in walked my dad, Henry, and who I assumed was Brad, cuz there was a floating frame. I snickered at my dad and Henry's costumes, but I had to admit that Henry looked hot in his. That goth-like look works for him and I ain't complaining.
"Mission accomplished people,' My dad announced and I grinned, walking over to Henry and we shared a tight hug.
"Yay," I smiled in his arms.
Char chuckled, "nice!"
"Mission not accomplished," Brad intervened, setting down the declaration. "You still have to turn me visible."
"Dang it," I cursed and Henry grinned at me.
"We're still working on it that," Schwoz explained. "I'm down to our last cat."
"I thought you had fifteen of them," my dad remarked.
"We did," Mary said as she rocked Violet in her arms.
"What happened to the other fourteen?" Henry asked her and this made us all think about the other fourteen cats that Schwoz may or may not have turned into giants that are wandering the town.
Henry and my dad looked up when they heard a loud purr and stomping.
"What is that?" Henry asked and I chuckled, pulling away from Henry's grasp.
"Is that a giant lion?" My dad asked.
"Of course not," I scoffed.
"No no!"
"Most definitely not."
"Nope!"
"UGHHH!"
The two turned to Jasper, who was still trying to cough up the key.
"So, does this thing turn things visible or not?" Brad asked, moving the machine and Schwoz stood behind it.
"Only one way to find out," he said and activated the machine. A blue beam shot out and hit the invisible cat, which turned visible moments later and I smiled.
"It worked!" Char, Mary, and I beamed and I walked over and picked up the small cat and moved over to the girls, who petted the cat.
"Now point that thing at my beautiful face and make me visible again," Brad spoke and I made a face of disgust.
I don't think anything will be beautiful after fifteen years of not being able to see it.
"Okay, get in position," Schwoz told Brad, who I assumed took his position.
"Get this chicken out of my way," Brad said and the chicken on the floor got moved out of view and I set the cat down, who ran after it. "Soon, I will be known as Visible Brad."
"Wouldn't it just be Brad?"
"Just Brad."
"No one calls me Visible Ray."
"That's just stupid."
"UGHHH!"
"Just turn it on," Brad exclaimed.
"Okay," Schwoz said and the beam shot out, hitting Brad, and moments later an actual person appeared there and my eyes grew.
It's even more horrifying than I imagined.
All of us were disgusted and mourned at the sight of Brad.
"Someone get me a mirror," Brad said and I shook my head. "I wanna see myself for the first time in fifteen years."
"The mirror is gonna crack if ya do," I mentioned.
"That's not a good idea," Henry added and Schwoz moved a full body mirror in front of Brad, who faced it.
"AHHHH!" Brad gasped with horror, "what happened to me?"
"Well, looks like you maybe haven't brushed your teeth in fifteen years," Mary began.
"or your hair."
"or done your laundry."
"Or exercised."
"or changed your clothes- UGHHHH!"
"Why would I?" Brad asked, "I've been invisible!"
"Well, there ya go!" My dad remarked.
"There's your answer!"
"Great explanation."
"You look terrible!"
"Go shower in Schwoz's tub!"
"I'm hideous!" Brad concluded, "if anybody needs me, I'll be crying in Schwoz's shower."
"That's a private area!" Schwoz called, following Brad, who waved him off.
"Ehhh!"
The emergency alarm went off.
"Emergency call," Char said and my dad went over to answer it.
"You okay?" Henry asked me and I nodded.
Crap, he's noticed my behavior.
"Yes," I said as he took my hand in his.
"Captain Man emergency line, how may I kick your conundrum?" My dad greeted, "what's that? Giant cats, ya say?"
This got our attention and Schwoz, Piper, Mary, Char, and I both began to back away sheepishly as he continued.
"Fourteen of them, say you?"
I gave Henry a grin before we retreated to the back and just let them handle the giant cat situation.

Up Next: The Envygram Wall🦋
Another chapter is done, which means we're getting closer to the end. There are thirteen episodes left in the series, so there are at least thirteen chapters left in this book series. It's bittersweet, it really is.
I NEED HELP. So, the wedding chapter for Ray and Mary is approaching and I want you guys to pick out a dress for Mary. I have one in mind and I asked July for help, and she said the same dress, but I want you all to help me choose.
Choices:
A.
B.
C.
I have my preference, but let me know your choice.
Wanted to clarify something, Bella and Henry will not be getting married in any upcoming chapter. It will be apart of the epilogue, and won't be an actual chapter, because they are still teenagers and I'm waiting for the right time. Same with Bella getting pregnant, it wouldn't be right and isn't happening right now. So, stop asking about Bella getting pregnant lol
I have my ideas😉
