Secret Room
Arabella's POV
I was in the Man Cave with Jasper, Charlotte, Schwoz, and his weird family. Mary wasn't here because she was at work and couldn't get off, because her boss is unreasonable with her paychecks. It's stupid really, and it's probably a lot more tiring and stressful when Mary's pregnant and is limited to what her body can do and handle. My dad and I have started to design a baby room for the new baby, but it's still in the works and isn't ready to be built yet. The gender is now known, but Mary wants to be surprised when the baby is born. Ray is a little annoyed by that, but respects his girlfriend's decision and won't complain.
Henry and I started dating again a few days ago and it's been absolutely amazing. I missed that charming and handsome boy so much and I'm so glad I have him back. I missed my superhero so much.
It's chaos right now in the Man Cave, Schwoz's family was visiting and a bunch of his little family members were over. The kids weren't a problem, just a little annoying, and Larry, Schwoz's cousin, was here and he's an interesting creature. Then we have our favorite horse, Winnie Schwartz, Schwoz's sister, and she hasn't caused a problem yet, it's just weird to watch her eat horse food and lick a salt block. Jasper, Charlotte, and I were playing a board game with Larry as the kids were running around playing, and Schwoz was teaching Winnie to jump over objects like a horse would.
With Schwoz, I'm not surprised by how weird his family is. It's Schwoz, I don't need to explain.
Henry and my dad returned, but they were confused by the scene.
"Hey, guys."
"Glad you're alive.
"Hi, Dad," I greeted, not paying attention to them. "Hi, Henry, honey."
I looked up for a moment and saw Henry trip over a suitcase and I shrugged.
"Who are all these weird-looking freaks?!" My dad asked Schwoz.
"My family!" Schwoz answered.
"That kid has a beard!" Henry exclaimed and I looked up at Zed, who had a beard on his face. Apparently that's a baby beard and it hasn't fallen out of his face yet.
I don't understand Schwoz's culture or family, but I love it at the same time.
"Yeah, so cute!" Schwoz smiled, "Zed's baby beard hasn't fallen out yet. When it does, the beard fairy will come-"
"I'm gonna stop you right there Schwoz!" My dad interrupted.
"Thank you!" Henry sighed and I looked up at Henry. I waved at him and he waved back with a tired smile.
They just fought Arson Boy and are covered in ashes from head to toe. If I'm being honest, Henry looks hot as heck covered in ashes while he's in his Kid Danger uniform.
"As much as I love having your family being here, I hate it!" My dad told Schwoz, "so, everybody out!"
"But I asked you if they can come visit for a week, and you said 'yeah, sure, whatever Schwoz!'"
Schwoz explained using his surprisingly good American accent.
"Why would you say that?" Henry asked my dad.
"I didn't!"
"Yeah, ya did!"
"When?"
"I asked you three months ago because you can't think that far ahead, so you just say yes to anything!" Schwoz argued and I chuckled.
That's so true. One time, I asked to go to a water park for my birthday and my dad agreed but then the day came and he was confused about what was happening.
"That is so not true!" My dad protested.
"Can we go to that awesome water park in three months?" I asked with a smile and Jasper and Charlotte nodded as Henry chuckled.
"Yeah, sure, that's like three months away!" My dad waved me off and I laughed.
"Yay!"
"Then can Jasper and I get raises in three months?" Charlotte asked him.
"Yeah, sure, that's like a couple of years away," my dad waved off again and Charlotte and Jasper smiled.
"Thanks!"
"Look, let's just get some churros," Henry sighed and walked by him.
"Right, churro's fix everything," my dad agreed and followed him.
Henry came up to me and kissed my lips before he and my dad went up to the Auto-Snacker.
"One churro-two churros," Henry corrected, touching the snack machine.
"No churros available!"
Did they not see the giant pile of churros on the floor?
"What did you say?" My dad asked the machine.
"Did I stutter? No, churros available!"
"Hey, hey, why is the auto-snacker out of churros?" Henry asked him.
"Oh, Larry's kids ordered a ton of them," Jasper informed them and the two looked at the pile of churros on the floor.
"What?! Oh, come on! Man, we just got back from saving the city from Arson Boy!" Henry exclaimed, "from Arson Boy. And can't even get a churro! Can't even get a churro!"
Zed suddenly ran in and whacked Henry on the back with a stick.
"Ow!" Henry cried and my dad grabbed Henry, holding him back. "Okay, okay! You shut up!"
My dad held Henry and tried to calm him down as the kids laughed at him. I raised my eyebrow at the sight of my dad calming down an irritated Henry and I saw my dad whisper something in his ear, but I couldn't hear it.
"So, uh, Kid Danger and I are gonna go use the bathroom together!" My dad suddenly announced as they walked toward the back room.
I looked at them weirdly but shrugged.
"Nope!"
"Yep!" My dad objected, pulling Henry back, "so, don't come looking for us for a long time!"
"Dude, I'm not gonna use the bathroom-"
My dad shoved Henry into the back and walked inside before the door closed.
I stood up and walked toward the back door.
"Where are you going?" Jasper asked me as I opened the door.
"Following them," I told him. "Henry would never use the bathroom with my dad."
——
I searched the Man Cave for my dad, and Jasper followed me because Zed's baby beard fell out. We eventually found the Raw Sewage door and opened it to find my dad and Henry chilling inside the room.
"Hello!"
"Oh, there you guys are!"
"No!" My dad groaned, falling forward in his recliner. The room had a bunch of cool stuff and I smiled.
"Oooo," I gasped.
"What is this room?" Jasper asked them with a smile.
"Guys, what are you doing?" Henry asked as my dad stood up.
"I followed you," I grinned.
"I told you not to follow me," my dad told me and I shrugged.
"Since when do I listen to that?" I laughed and he rolled his eyes, "and Jasper told me that Zed's baby beard fell out."
"Yeah! Wanna see?!" Jasper smiled showing them the beard, and the boys denied it.
"No!"
"That's gross!"
"Here," Jasper handed me the beard and I backed away.
"Nope!"
"Bella, sweetheart," my dad began. "I get you're seventeen, but I'm still your father, and you need to listen to me."
"I do listen sometimes," I remarked. "I just knew that Henry wouldn't use the bathroom with you."
"Yeah, dude, who would believe that?" Henry asked my dad, who rubbed his face.
"It's Bella, I didn't think she'd care!" My dad exclaimed.
"Bella! Jasper!" I heard Charlotte call from outside the room, "Schwoz said that Zed has to put his baby beard under his pillow or the beard fairy won't come!"
Henry went over and tried to shut the door, but Charlotte was already in the room.
"Just showing Ray and Henry!" Jasper said and my dad and Henry groaned as she saw the room.
"What is this room?" Charlotte asked.
"Just get out of here!" My dad exclaimed, trying to get us to leave, "and stop asking questions!"
Schwoz walked in, "I have a question!"
"Ahhh!" My dad groaned.
"Is it cool if my cousin Larry uses your toothbrush?" Schwoz asked my dad and I grinned.
"No!"
"Too late," Schwoz shrugged and walked inside. "What is this room?"
"It's a secret room and it's ours" My dad whined out.
"I want a secret room!" Jasper protested.
"Me too!" Charlotte added
"I already have my own room," I shrugged. "So, I don't care."
"With wings!" Jasper said
"Yeah!" Charlotte agreed
"And a chair!" Jasper added.
"Yeah!"
"And a poster of flightier pilots with my face tapped over one of them!" Jasper rambled and I rolled my eyes.
"Mmmm..." Charlotte shook her head.
"Well, then go make your own room or hang out in Bella's," my dad snapped at us. "This room is for... this room is for crime fighters only!"
The four of us gasped and I scoffed.
"You don't think we help fight crime?" I asked them in disbelief. "Remind me, did I, or did I not help you defeat Rick Twitler?"
"That was a one-time thing," my dad scoffed at me and I went to attack, but Henry held me back.
"No," Henry said and I glared at him, shrugging his hands off. "You all 'help' but, uh, we're out there fighting Arson Boy!"
"That's right!" My dad agreed.
"So, unless you got torched by a twelve-year-old with a flamethrower, uh-"
"Get out!" The two said together and I glare at them.
"Excuse me?"
Henry cleared his throat, "please, princess?"
"Na, I'm good."
"I'm not leaving," Jasper declared before the two began to push us out of the room, but I managed to stay back and shut the door with me still inside.
I laughed as I leaned on the door, "some people just don't know their place."
I looked up at the two superheroes and grinned as they stared at me.
"What?"
"Bella, we love you."
"Very much," Henry added and I smiled.
"Aw!"
"But, please, get out," my dad told me and I folded my arms.
"I'll leave."
"Thank you."
"Good."
"If!"
"Ugh!" They groaned.
"If you let me remodel my bedroom anyway I want," I smirk and the two shared a look before my dad agreed.
"Fine!" He sighed loudly and I cheered, happily.
"Yay! Thank you!" I giggle, before kissing their ashed covered cheeks. "Love you both!"
I opened the door and ran out of the room.
——
The following day, Charlotte, Jasper, Schwoz, and I decided to create our own room. This room is for non-crime fighters only and my dad and Henry are not allowed inside it. I personally think this room is a lot better than my dad's and Henry, it has a DJ table, a boxing game, a racing simulator, and a sweet ice cream machine that I was using. Not to mention the fiesta-sized churro that will for sure make my dad and Henry jealous and want to use this room. Speaking of rooms, I have ideas for my new bedroom and I think it's pretty amazing. I told Schwoz my ideas and he told me it's possible to get it done.
Also, the baby room is coming along nicely, and I finished the design for it last night. Mary's gonna love the room and hopefully, my little sibling will too. I feel bad for Mary, she's been so stressed out about work and she's exhausted as well. She's sixteen weeks pregnant, which means she's four months in and the bump is pretty visible and can't be hidden. Not only is she stressing herself out but I think the baby could be affected. I think I don't know how this whole pregnancy thing works, Henry and I haven't gotten there yet.
I don't plan on getting pregnant, I'm not ready for that.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the power to our electronics was turned off.
"Hey!" The four of us exclaimed and I turned to see my dad and Henry standing there.
Dang it, why are they here?
"What happened?" Jasper asked and I stepped forward, putting my ice cream down as Schwoz and Charlotte walked over to us.
"I happened!" My dad snarled.
"I also happened," Henry added.
"What are you doing in our secret room!?" Schwoz asked them.
"Why do you have a secret room?!" My dad mocked him.
"Cause that's what you told us to do when you kicked us out of your secret room!" Charlotte exclaimed, "remember? Go make your own room! This room is for crime fighters only!"
"I don't talk like this!" My dad argued.
"You do that!" I nodded at him before we argued for a moment about it.
"Hey!" Henry called and we stopped, "is that- is that a party-sized churro?"
My dad and Henry walked toward the churro, but Jasper and I ran in front of it.
"This is a fiesta-sized churro!" I corrected, stopping them from touching it, "and you guys can't have any."
Jasper nodded and we grinned at the boys.
"Yeah!" Charlotte agreed, "and this room is for non-crime fighters only."
"OHHHHH!" My dad and Henry gasped and I nodded.
"Yeah! Yeah!" Charlotte remarked, "so you need to get your butts out of here!"
"Now!" I added before we all began to argue with each other and it became chaotic. Suddenly, my dad threatened Jasper with his laser and he ran to the side with me. Then, my dad zapped at Charlotte who yelped and Schwoz moved her back.
Henry grabbed my dad and pushed him back to calm him down.
"Woah! Woah!" Henry called.
"He's wearing my colors, man!" My dad exclaimed and Jasper looks down at his hoodie that matched Kid Danger's uniform.
"Look, let's make a deal," Henry began when it was calm.
"What kind of a deal?" Jasper asked him.
"You guys get to keep your room all to yourselves," Henry began and the four of us nodded.
"Love it!" Charlotte nodded.
"Love it! Now leave!" I agreed and my dad snarled.
"Hate it!"
"Okay! I'm not done! I'm not done!" Henry interrupted, "me and Ray, we get to keep our room all to ourselves!"
"Beautiful!" I say.
"Still love it!"
"Our room is lame!"
"But!" Henry called, "but! Ray and I take the fiesta-sized churro with us!"
"Yes! Yes!" My dad cheered, "um, we get the churro."
The four of us shared a look before we nodded.
"Deal."
"Deal."
"Whatever," I sighed and the two boys silently cheered to themselves as Schwoz walked over to the churro.
"Yes! Yes!" The boys cheered and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, you can take the churro," Schwoz began with the churro in his arms.
"Yes!" Ray cheered and Henry smiled.
"When you pry it from my cold dead hands!" Schwoz screamed before he broke the churro in half and started to smash it on the ground. The rest of us protested against his actions and yelled out in agony, but the churro was already smashed to pieces. "Enjoy your churro!" Schwoz spat on it and I cringed.
"Ew!"
"Okay," my dad breathed out and stood up. "I'm gonna blow up the Man Cave!"
He walked out of the room after that and I gasped as everyone was confused.
"I gotta save my computer!" I yelled out before rushing out of the room.
Well, now I have to get a new room so this isn't such a bad thing.
——
After I grabbed my laptop and phone, I rushed out of my room and saw the button to blow up the Man Cave was up and my dad and Henry were there.
"Dad! Don't!" I called and raced over to them, "don't blow this place up!"
"Ray! Don't!" Jasper ran out with Charlotte and Schwoz.
"Don't blow up the Man Cave!"
"You can have our room!" Jasper negotiated.
"No, he can't!" Schwoz argued.
"You can have my bedroom!" I objected, "I'll go live with Henry!"
"That's a pretty good deal," Henry agreed.
"Absolutely not!" My dad sternly disagreed, "if that happens, I'll become a grandfather and I don't want that right now!"
We all began to argue loudly over this until my dad yelled over us and we stopped talking.
"Hey! Listen to me! I am a swallow, impulsive, immature man-child!" My dad angrily began and I nodded.
"Yeah," I said.
"So, you will apologize to the both of us and make us a fiesta-sized churro!" My dad continued, "or I will blow this whole thing sky high!"
"I will hit this button myself before I apologize to both of you!" Schwoz exclaimed, putting his hand above my dad's.
"Well, I will blow up the Man Cave if we all don't stop fighting!" Charlotte yelled, putting her hand above Schwoz's hand, "we're friends, if we can't get along then we don't deserve a Man Cave!"
"Well, I don't think we should blow up the Man Cave, because someone lives here and that someone is me!" I snapped, joining in the conversation and grabbing their hands to stop them from pressing the button.
"Well, I agree with Airy, I don't think anyone should blow up the Man Cave ever for any reason, and I think we should just take our hands away from the button, okay?!" Henry rambled on with panic and I nodded.
"Well, I am feeling left out!" Jasper chimed in putting his hand in and we started to argue loudly again. We pushed our hands over each other's until it got too much and I felt my hand touch the red button. We immediately stopped as the button lowered and a voice echoed.
"Man Cave Self Destruct Activated!"
I looked at the monitor and we had two minutes before the Man Cave was gonna blow up again.
This is the fifth time this place is gonna blow up.
"Who touched the button?!" My dad asked with alarm and all of us denied that we didn't push it.
"I bet you did it!" I accused my dad.
"I was never gonna hit it!" My dad protested, "I was only bluffing!"
"You couldn't have been bluffing! I was bluffing!" Schwoz screamed.
"This is all your fault!" My dad snapped at him and they started to argue angrily at each other and then we joined in on the arguing.
"HEY!"
We stopped and saw Larry standing there.
"Is this place really gonna self destruct?"
"Um... yes," Schwoz nodded and Larry gasped.
"And you really can't stop it?" Charlotte asked him.
"Um... no."
"OH MY GOD!"
We all began to yell and panic frantically around the place like a bunch of people who got their heads chopped off.
Eventually, my dad gestured us toward the elevator, and Henry picked me up running into the elevator and all of us squished inside.
"AHHH!" Henry yelled as he held me close and the doors shut.
——
We all got up to the store and Larry and his kids rushed out of the store as we continued to panic and yell in fear.
"WAIT!" Henry yelled over our screams and we stopped, "I left my dad's karaoke machine inside, do you think there's still time-"
Suddenly, a huge explosion happened and the entire place began to rumble vigorously. I fell back into Henry's arms, who held me close and tried his best to stabilize me as the ground shook like an earthquake. Everyone else grabbed onto something and tried their best to stay stable and not fall to the ground.
I yelped as Henry grabbed the top of my head and held me tightly against his body.
"I got you," Henry assured me and I shut my eyes, holding onto his arm that was on my head.
"You better have me, boy!"
After a couple of minutes, the ground stopped shaking and the earthquake-like rumble had vanished. I let out a few breathes and Henry continued to hold me as everyone recovered from the earthquake.
"I can't believe it," Charlotte began.
"We blew up the Man Cave," Jasper confessed.
"Yep," I said as Henry slowly let me go and I folded my arms.
"Yeah."
"We did."
"YOU MANIACS!" Henry cried out in agony and I rubbed his back. "YOU BLEW IT UP! DANG YOU!" He turned to us, "GOSH DANG YOU ALL AS WELL!"
——
We all rode the elevator down to what was the Man Cave and we all looked at each other with uneasiness.
"Maybe it's not as bad as we think," I shrugged before the elevator doors opened and we were met with an absolutely destroyed Man Cave. I gasped and Henry wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
I flinched when a few things short-circuited and I leaned back into Henry's chest.
"Or maybe it's worse," Charlotte commented.
"She's right," my dad sighed. "This is worse than the other ones."
"I agree," I said.
"I know," Schwoz said.
"What other ones?" Jasper asked.
"Oh, the other Man Caves we've blown up," I replied to him.
"Schwoz built like, what? Ten of them?" My dad questioned Schwoz, who nodded.
"I am terribly sorry, what?" Henry asked us with confusion.
"I didn't build just one Man Cave, Ray is very irresponsible and when Bella was younger she was very clumsy and a bit of an airhead," Schwoz explained and I laughed.
"Still am," I grinned.
"It's true," my dad chuckled.
"So, I built one Man Cave and nine spare Man Caves each one below the other," Schwoz informed them.
"Let's see, we started with ten Man Caves, we've blown up five so far, which means-"
"Hey, hey," Henry cut in. "What do you mean you've blown up five Man Caves so far?"
"Well, first one was Bella when she was seven and she saw a button and she just had to push it," my dad began with a laugh and I chuckled with him and Schwoz.
"When a seven-year-old little girl sees a big red button, she just has to push it," I joke and the two boys laughed as Henry, Charlotte, and Jasper were beyond confused.
"Second one was a prank gone very wrong," my dad continued and I shook my head at that memory. "Third one got invaded by mole people."
I groaned, "I hate mole people!"
"Me too!" Schwoz groaned.
"Wait, mole people are real?" Jasper asked us and I nodded.
"Unfortunately," I sighed.
"Yes! And they are impossible to get rid of!" My dad told them. "Fourth one," he chuckled, "I saw this spider right?"
I giggled softly at this one.
"I went to get a tissue, I turned around, couldn't find it for the life of me, so, obviously," my dad finished and gestured his hand over an imaginary red button.
"Boom!" I said with a chuckle.
"Fifth one got blown up over a churro," my dad continued. "Oh, you guys were there for that one!"
"Woah, Woah," Charlotte stopped him. "So, you're saying that there's more Man Cave's right below this one?"
"Yep," I nod.
"Yeah."
"Yeah."
"I won't risk blowing up our only Man Cave over a churro," my dad scoffed. "That'd be crazy!"
"Who wants to see the new Man Cave?!" Schwoz beamed and I smiled.
"Me!"
Schwoz opened up the secret buttons for the different Man Caves and only five buttons were lit up. Schwoz pressed the sixth button and then pressed the down button.
We rode down to the new Man Cave and the elevator doors opened to reveal a brand new Man Cave with a bunch of sheets covering the machines and the couch.
"Woah!" Jasper smiled.
"It's got that new Man Cave smell," my dad grinned.
"This is amazing," Henry said.
"I'm getting a new room for sure," I laughed and my dad gave me a look.
"I guess you have to now."
I grinned at him as he ruffled my hair with a smile.
"It looks exactly the same," Jasper grinned.
"Sure does," my dad remarked.
"Yeah," Schwoz nodded.
"Okay, first things first, let's put that self destruct button away before anyone accidentally hits it again," my dad declared and ripped the sheet to the monitor off.
Suddenly, a mole person ran out from under the sheet covering the couch, and Jasper, Charlotte, Henry, and I backed away in fear. Henry pushed me behind him and I grabbed his arm with panic.
"What is that?!" Charlotte asked us.
"It's a mole person!" I screamed as my dad and Schwoz became alarmed.
"Mole people never die!" The mole person laughed, and before my dad and Schwoz could stop him, it pressed the self destruct button.
We all froze as the count down began again.
"Man Cave Self Destrust Activated."
"Back in the elevator people," my dad told us and we all sighed before retreating into the elevator.
——
We got upstairs and dealt with the annoying earthquake by the explosion and I groaned.
"Mole people suck!"
——
About two days had passed since the Man Cave got blown up two times and my dad and I got to work on the baby nursery room for the new baby. It looked pretty amazing if I do say so myself, and not to mention my new room was built and I absolutely loved it. It had a similar vibe to my old one, but much better and it had better fairy lights.
It was Sunday, Mary's only day off and she was trying to rest, but all of us pulled her over to the new baby room to surprise her with it.
"What's this about?" Mary asked and my dad smiled at her.
"You've been working hard, almost too hard," my dad began. "Bella told me what's happening at your job and I personally believe that's unfair what your boss did to you."
"I agree," she sighed. "But, she's my boss, I can't change it."
"Maybe you can," Charlotte began."
"What do you mean?" She asked us and I smiled, "I can't."
"Well, what if you quit your job?" Henry asked her and she chuckled.
"I love my job," she told us. "I love tutoring kids and helping them with their problems."
"I know," Ray told her and put his arm around her shoulder. "But, with the new baby coming and our relationship growing, it won't be as easy and I can tell it's stressing you out a lot."
Mary couldn't argue and sighed, "what are you saying?"
"What if you created an online counseling program for kids and teens?" I asked her with and she was confused, "you will become your own boss and be able to do what you love without the pressure from your boss and her unreasonable beliefs?"
"But, I don't know where to start?" She began and we all smiled at one another, "I don't even have the money to do that."
"You're dating Captain Man," Jasper reminded her. "Money won't be an issue."
Mary smiled warmly and chuckled, "I-I-I don't know what to say."
"You don't need to say anything, I just want my girlfriend to be happy and stress-free," my dad grinned and kissed her cheek. "Schwoz has already created a website and all the information has been set up. All you have to do is activate it and allow the patients and clients to call or email you."
Mary began to cry with joy and I smiled at her, "guys. I-this is so amazing. Thank you."
I hugged her and she hugged me, "no need to thank us."
"I think my hormones are acting up," she joked and we all chuckled before my dad put his hand on the door handle.
"Now, we have another surprise," my dad began and Mary smiled.
"Ray," she giggled and he smiled before opening the door and Mary gasped at the sight.
"Oh my gosh!" She laughed warmly and we walked into the baby nursery room.
(Pretend there's no window, cuz they are underground lol)
"It's a baby nursery room!" I announced as Mary walked around the place with shock and amazement.
"Ray, did you build this?" Mary asked him.
"Yes, but Bella helped," my dad shrugged bashfully.
"Gotta make sure my baby sibling is happy," I chuckle.
"I love you guys," Mary sniffled and my dad kissed her forehead. "Hormones again."
I hugged Mary and she hugged me, "I'm glad you like it."
"I do."
"I got like ten thousand splinters from this, so you better enjoy it," I joked and everyone chuckled.
"She complained about every splinter she got," my dad chimed in and I rolled my eyes.
"Thank you," Mary smiled. "Can't wait for my baby to come and see this amazing room."
"Same here."
"Let's hope it doesn't blow up," my dad muttered and I gave him a look.
"Huh?" Mary asked us.
"Nothing!" All of us quickly say.
