Car Trek
Arabella's POV
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Charlotte! Happy birthday to you!"
Henry, Jasper, Schwoz, my dad, and I cheered and she clapped out of excitement. We blindfolded Charlotte and brought her into Schwoz's RV, because we're gonna take her some place very special. The Boo Man Group.
"Okay, you ready?" I asked her.
"I don't know!" She smiled and my dad took off the blindfold.
"Ta-da!" We cheered.
"Where am I?" She asked with confusion.
"You're in Schwoz's RV!" My dad beamed.
"Yeah!"
"This is Schwoz's recreational vehicle." Henry smirked.
"And you guys are giving it to me for my birthday?" Charlotte asked and we denied her.
"No, we're taking you somewhere." Jasper informed her.
"Guess where you're going." My dad said.
"Uhh...." She trailed off, unsure.
"You want a hint?" I asked her.
"Sure, give me a hint!" She said and the five of us huddled together, excluding Charlotte to think of a hint. Moments later, we 'dispersed' as Henry called it and faced Charlotte.
"Okay, here's your hint." Henry said and we counted down together.
"BOO!"
Charlotte yelled, moving back with fear and I giggled.
"Well, I hope my birthday present is a new heart." She remarked.
"No, no, no." Henry smiled.
"It's not a new heart." My dad mentioned as Charlotte moved passed us and sat down.
"But, uh, if you ever do need a new heart, I know a guy." Schwoz muttered to her and I made a face.
Not creepy at all.
"You're too close." Charlotte said and he backed up, before sitting in the driver's seat. "Come on, guys! Just tell me where we're going for my birthday!"
"Why tell you when we can show you." My dad smirked and gestured to Henry. "Show her the tickets."
"Huh?"
"The tickets. Show her the tickets." My dad repeated.
"They're E-Tickets, we bought them online." I remarked.
"Yeah, we don't have actual 'physical tickets." Jasper scoffed.
"No, we have E-Tickets." Henry said.
"You didn't print them out?" My dad asked and I laughed.
"Print them out?" Jasper, Henry, and I laughed.
"Yeah, yeah, we print them out on paper!" Henry laughed.
"Yeah, nobody prints out tickets anymore." I grin.
"We use E-Tickets." Henry said.
"Well, that makes me sick." My dad sighed.
"So, you guys are taking me too...." Charlotte began with eagerness.
"Okay, ya know what? Here's a good hint." Henry smiled and went up to her. "Remember that time-"
"We're taking you to see Boo Man Group!"
Charlotte shot up, screaming. "Ahh! For real!?"
"Yeah!" I smiled and Charlotte hugged me, giggling.
"I had a great hint!" Henry berated my dad.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so excited!" Charlotte exclaimed.
"Yeah! We all are!" My dad smiled.
"I'm excited and I don't even know what Boo Man Group is." Schwoz said and we all gasped with disbelief.
"What?!"
"Schwoz?!"
"The Boo Man Group is a bunch of guys who dress up as ghost then they juggle!" Charlotte giggled.
"Silently!" I added and Schwoz seemed excited.
"The show starts at eight, right?" Jasper asked my dad, who checked his phone.
"Oh yeah, it's already after seven we better hit it." My dad said and we encouraged my dad to start driving. Henry sat down in the passenger seat while Jasper, Charlotte, and I sat down in the back.
"Alright." My dad smiled and looked at Schwoz, who was occupying the driver's seat. "Move. Get in the back, I'm driving."
"But this is my RV." Schwoz protested.
"Oh yeah." My dad smiled, "to bad, get in the back."
"I don't want to get into the back." Schwoz objected.
"Alright, then I'm just gonna sit right here." My dad sighed and sat on Schwoz's lap, despite his protests. "Yep, that feels right. Settle in, it's a long trip, are you gonna get in the back? Are you gonna get in the back? Get in the back!" My dad got up and Schwoz snarled at my dad.
"Aye!" Schwoz got up, but my dad hit him and they started to fight, but I got up and broke them up.
"Hey! Hey!" I yelled, "quit it! Quit it!"
Schwoz reluctantly stopped and made his way to the back.
"Alright." My dad said, "is everybody ready?"
Before any of could say anything, my dad pushed on the gas pedal and the RV shot forward and Schwoz got shoved all the way to the back, landing in his small hammock chair. Schwoz recovered and sat down in the chair with a pout.
"Okay, it's a forty minute drive, so I figured we might want a snack on the way." Jasper offered and dug into his back.
"Oh, what'd you bring?!" I asked him with a smile.
"I brought..." He pulled out a large pot of brown soup. "A big pot of brown soup!"
"You brought soup on a car trip?" Charlotte asked him.
"Happy birthday." He smiled, nudging her arm.
I'm not surprised, I mean it's Jasper.
Henry's phone began to ring and he picked it up.
"Who's phone is that? Who's is it?!" My dad snapped.
"It's mine. It's mine." Henry said, "my little sister."
"Oh..."
Henry answered it, "geez man. Hey, sister! What up with ya, ha!...uh, where am I? I am in a large vehicle with my boss, Airy, Charlotte, and Jasper."
I smiled softly at him.
"Excuse me? What am I? Just a dog in the back seat?" Schwoz asked him.
"Shhh! Sit!" Henry ordered and Schwoz sat down.
"Aye!"
"So, uh, how did dad do at the dentist? Did they get his wisdom teeth?" Henry asked his sister. "Look, Piper, I'm actually on my way to see Boo Man Group, so I cant really talk-...What?! Dad, did what?!"
"Ugh, what'd your dad do now?!" My dad asked with a sigh.
"Oh my god!" Henry groaned.
"What is it, baby?" I asked.
"What's wrong?"
"What is what?"
"My dad had mouth surgery and now he swallowed my sisters' house key." Henry told us.
"Wait, wait. Your dad is on pain medications and he's driving a car?" My dad asked him.
"My sister's driving, okay?" Henry informed him.
"Isn't she like twelve?" My dad remarked.
"Yeah, they sent her a license by mistake." Henry replied.
"I don't understand that."
"Dude, this has all been established." Henry concluded, before talking to his sister again. "...uh, why don't you call mom?....look, Piper, I wanna help you, but we're already on the road, so-"
Charlotte jumped in, "hey, there's a Nacho Ball about four miles from here."
"So?" Henry asked.
"So, just tell Piper to meet us in fifteen minutes at the Nacho Ball on..." Charlotte checked her phone, "on Avenue Street."
"Why?"
"So, you can give her your house key, Hen." I intervened, standing next to Charlotte.
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying." Henry smiled and I rolled my eyes, before sitting back down with Charlotte.
"Hey Piper, meet us in fifteen minutes at the Nacho Ball on Avenue Street so I can you my house key." Henry explained to Piper, before hanging up.
"That's not what he was saying." I mentioned.
——
A little later, we were all enjoying some of Jasper's brown soup and it wasn't bad. It was pretty good.
"Okay, I gotta be honest, this brown soup is really good." Charlotte praised him and the rest of us praised Jasper.
"Thanks, it's my mom's recipe, it won the brown medal at last years Soup Festival." Jasper explained.
"Really?" I asked him.
"No... but she wanted to win. So bad."
Suddenly, we hit a bump on the road and my dad's soup went everywhere. "Oh come on!"
"What happened?"
"What's going on?"
We set down our soups and looked at my dad.
"I spilled Jasper's sad mom's brown soup all over my lap." My dad explained.
"I found a rag!" Henry called, lifting up a red rag.
"Uh, great, uh, you steer and I'll wipe." My dad instructed Henry.
"You sure?" Henry asked.
"Yeah, yeah!" My dad exclaimed and Henry agreed, getting up and kneeling next to my dad as my dad cleaned his pants and Henry drove.
The emergency alarm blared and Jasper, Charlotte, and I got up with panic.
"Uh-oh!" Jasper and I say.
"Captain Man Hotline." Charlotte says as I sit down in the passenger seat.
"Alright, nobody worry, we're not answering it." My dad assured us.
"Huh?"
"What?"
"It's the hotline!"
"You have to answer it!"
"No! Come on! We spent a ton of money on these tickets to see Boo Man Group!" My dad protested. "We are not working tonight. The police can handle things for a few hours without Captain Man and Kid Danger. Don't answer that."
"I'm answering it." Henry declared, taking the phone.
"Do not answer it."
"I'm answering it." Henry said before answering with a big smile. "Hello! This is the Captain Man Hotline, this is Kid Danger, what is your emergency?"
"Hi! Please help us!" The man over the voice called
"Mmhm." Henry nodded, "can you be more specific?"
"Yeah, uh, I'm the manager at Fred Lobster and there's this freak here who's gone crazy." The man explained. "He's got hostages!"
Charlotte, Jasper, and I shared a look of worry and panic.
"Give me that!" A different man demanded and I assumed that was the freak. "Just give me the phone! Hi! This is the freak! What's up?!"
"Uh, hey, hello, okay." Henry nervously greeted, "okay, sir, why don't you just calm down and tell me why you're upset?"
"I'm upset cuz I'm at Fred lobster, where tonight is supposed to be all you can eat lobster night! And they ran out of lobsters!" The man explained. "I want lobster! And if I don't get all I can eat, everybody here is gonna be sorry!"
"Okay..." Henry stopped talking when the man hung up. "Oh...vintage dial tone."
"You don't year that much, do ya?" My dad remarked.
"Na ya don't, it's nice." Henry smiled. "It's a throwback, it's like a, it's like a naaaaaaaa!"
"No, it's more like. Baaaaaaaaa!" My dad protested and I rolled my eyes at them.
"What?" Henry asked. "What are you talking about? Ya know what, let's harmonize."
"Alright. On three." My dad agreed.
"One, two, three."
"Naaaaaaa/Baaaaaaa!" They harmonized together and I sighed. It was funny to hear them mimic the dial tone, but we have a bigger issue at hand.
"Guys!" Charlotte and I yelled.
"What?"
"What's up?"
"What are you gonna do about the hostage situation at Fred Lobster?" Charlotte asked them.
"Told ya already! We're gonna call the cops, let the cops handle it." My dad said, throwing down his towel.
"Cops, okay." Henry agreed and I got up from the seat so Henry can sit down. I moved to the back and Schwoz tapped Charlotte's shoulder.
"Hey, Charlotte."
I ignored them and focused on the front, watching Henry dial they cops. I jumped when I heard a noise and turned to see some confetti flying and I made a face.
Okay then.
"Swellview Police Department, what can I help you with?" The woman over the phone asked.
"Hey, hi, this is Kid Danger I need you to send-"
The woman over the phone began to laugh. "Just kidding! This is a recording! All police officers are either busy or at the Boo Man Group. If you have an emergency, please call the Captain Man Hotline." All of us groaned and I leaned my head on Henry's leg. "Thank you! And have a nine one wonderful day!"
"Wow." Henry muttered and dropped his phone.
"That's wonderful." Jasper sarcastically said.
"They are useless." My dad remarked and Henry sighed, rubbing my head.
"Okay, let's suit up and let's head to Fred Lobster." Henry declared and I lifted my head. "Come on."
"No!" My dad protested and my eyes grew. "I say, we ignore that call! And I say we go see the Boo Man Group! Who's with me?!"
Non of us reacted and he lowered his hand, clenching the wheel.
"Jerks!"
"Look, dude, there's hostages involved." Henry mentioned and I nodded.
"Oh, there's hostages involved!" My dad fake gasped and the rest of us began to argue with his childish behavior.
"Are you kidding?!" I asked him with disbelief.
This went on for a few moments until my dad gave in. "Alright!" He honked the horn, but instead of a honk, music started to play and a disco ball dropped down, causing Schwoz to dance.
Henry and I shared a look, before I giggled and the music and disco ball went away.
"Daaaaa!" Schwoz complained.
"What with the disco lights?" I asked him.
"Yeah."
"I connected my horn to a disco ball." Schwoz informed us. "I have three disco balls so I took one of them and-"
"Alright, Schwoz nobody wants to hear about your disco balls!" My dad snapped. "Now, since it's Charlotte's birthday, I say we let Charlotte decide. Whether we work tonight!" He laughed and blew a raspberry."
"Wow."
"Immature."
"And go to some dumb Fred Lobster to free a bunch of hostages that we don't even know personally!" He laughed, "or, or! We go and fulfill Charlotte's birthday dream of seeing a performance by the Boo Man Group! I mean...."
"I say we gotta go to Fred Lobster." Charlotte decided.
"No!" My dad yelled and honked his horn again, but that caused the music and disco ball to appear and Schwoz began to dance. My dad took his hand off the horn and Schwoz pouted it.
"Can I say something?"
"Ughhhh!" My dad groaned at Jasper.
"It's only seven fifteen." Jasper pointed out.
"So?"
"So, if we go to Fred Lobster, you guys can stop the freak, rescue the hostages, and we should still be able to make it to the Boo Man Group maybe a little after eight." Jasper explained and the four of us agreed with Jasper's reasoning.
"Fine!" My dad agreed, "but next year on Charlotte's birthday, we're doing what I wanna do!"
All of us agreed, besides Charlotte, because it's her birthday. My dad and Henry poured themselves a gum ball and popped it into their mouths.
——
We arrived at Fred Lobster and my dad and Henry were in their uniforms. My dad parked the car and roughly got out his blaster.
"Ahhh!" He groaned and I made at face at him. "Now, we're gonna go into Fred Lobster, grab the freak, free the hostages, then get back here so we can go to the Boo Man Group."
"Right." Henry nodded, "but while we're in there, can we grab some of those Better Cheddar Biscuits?"
Please do.
"You better cheddar believe it!" My dad smiled and Henry laughed. A buzzing noise began and I got up.
"Hey, I hear someone's phone vibrating." I mentioned, before checking my phone, but it wasn't mine. Everyone else checked their phones, and Henry groaned.
"Uh, no, it's Piper!"
"You were supposed to meet her at Nacho Ball!" Jasper exclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah! I know, I know! I forgot!" Henry admitted. "Dang it!"
"Come on." My dad motioned Henry as he began to leave the RV.
"I know! I'm coming! I'm coming!" Henry sighed and answered his phone. "Hey! How's my sister, the a-lister! Haha!" Henry panicked for a second when Piper asked him where he was and looked back at us. "Um...that's a very good question, which Jasper will answer for you right now!"
Henry tossed Jasper his phone, but it hit him in the face and Henry got up.
"Ow!"
Henry lifted my chin and kissed me, before he went over to my dad.
"Kid, let's do this." My dad hurried as he walked out.
"I know! I know!" Henry said.
"What do you want me to tell her?!" Jasper asked Henry.
"I don't know, dude! Just make something up! Or tell her I had to go to the bathroom-" Henry got cut off by my dad pulling him outside and Jasper put the phone to his ear.
"Hiya, Piper!" Jasper greeted Piper. "Uh, cuz-cuz Henry, Henry had to-" Jasper paused for a moment, before tossing the phone into the soup and my mouth fell open.
"So, you got nervous and thought the best thing to do was drop the phone into the soup?" I asked him.
"It solved the problem!" He reasoned.
"Sort of." Charlotte remarked, "but now, who's gonna want to eat brown soup with a cellphone in it?"
"Nobody." He sighs and I patted his back.
"I'll have some!" Schwoz smiled and handed us his bowl. I turned and Jasper was smirking at us.
——
Some times passed and Schwoz was enjoying the soup with a phone in it.
"Hey, how'd you get the soup so brown?" Schwoz asked him.
Jasper laughed, "I know right?"
My phone began to ring and I groaned. "Now, Piper's calling me!"
"So, answer it!" Jasper exclaimed.
"Nope, she's calling for you!" I say and handed him my phone.
"Um, um..." He panicked, before he tossed my phone into the brown soup and I squeaked.
"Jasper!" I got up and Charlotte did too. "Why would you drop my phone into a gallon of brown soup?"
"Are you really that surprised?" He asked me and I glared at him.
I heard yelling outside and I saw my dad and Henry running toward us.
"Hey, here comes, Henry and Ray!" Jasper pointed.
My dad slammed into the RV and stumbled back a little, before opening the door and walking in.
"I told you to open the door!"
"What's going on-"
Suddenly, Henry appeared outside with a petrified scream and we all yelled.
"Open the door! Open the door!" He yelled and my dad quickly let him in. Henry ran in, grabbed me and sat me down on his lap in the passenger seat and held me.
"What happened, baby?!" I asked, petting his head.
"Did you free the hostages?!" Jasper asked them and they both were very scared.
"No, we did not free the hostages!" My dad denied as he started up the car and Henry only tightened his grip on me.
"No, no! Go go!" Henry yelled before my dad slammed on the gas pedal and the car jetted forward.
"Don't leave." Henry muttered with panic and I petted his head with worry. "I need the comfort of my beautiful girlfriend."
"I won't..." I say.
"What happened?" Schwoz asked them.
"We went to the wrong Fred Lobster." My dad began and all of us groaned.
"What?"
"Wrong one?"
"So, what happened in there?" I asked them.
"There was a junior high girl's soccer team in there!" Henry began with resting his head on my shoulder.
"And when they saw Kid Danger, one of them screamed- Oh my god! We love you, Kid Danger! And next thing you know-"
"They were all over me!" Henry finished for my dad, shaking his head and I rubbed his back. "The whole girls soccer team!"
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"They chased us all the way to the car." M dad continued.
"Well, they chased me." Henry corrected.
"Some of them were yelling 'Captain Man! Captain Man!" My dad objected.
"Well, I mean kind of, but not really." Henry shrugged.
"I don't like it anymore then you do."
"Well, it's kinda weird-"
Suddenly, a young girl jumped onto the RV, screaming and all of us leaned back with fear.
"Kid Danger!" She yelled and all of us yelled with Henry holding me closer. "I love you! Please notice me!"
"Wipers! Wipers! Get it off!" I snapped and we all began to panic and freak out as my dad turned on the wipers to get the girl off the window. We yelled and screamed as my dad swerved right and left trying to get her off and Henry brought my head into his chest and she eventually fell off onto the road and we calmed down. Henry let my head go and I exhaled with relief, leaning into Henry.
We all yelled when the emergency call blared and I grabbed Henry.
"You okay?" He whispered to me, rubbing my back and I nodded.
My dad answered. "Captain Man Hotline."
"This is the manager from Fred Lobster."
"Oh yeah, which Fred Lobster?" My dad questioned.
"The one on Madison!"
"Oh yeah, on Madison! Now ya tell us!" Henry called and I patted his chest.
"Alright, don't worry, we're on our way to your location right now." My ddd assured the man.
"No, no, don't come here!"
"Then why are we doing this." I asked, but Henry covered my mouth so the man couldn't hear me.
"Shush, Airy!"
"Sorry..."
"Why, why not?" My dad asked and Henry removed his hand.
"Cuz that crazy freak! He let the hostages go!" The manager exclaimed. "Then he took off in his truck!"
"Oh really?" My dad smiled.
"That's awesome!" Henry added.
"Problem solved!" My dad said.
"No, it's not! Cuz on the way out, the guy grabbed Lobby!"
I gasped with Schwoz, Jasper, and Charlotte.
"Who's Lobby?" My dad asked.
"The Fred Lobster mascot." Jasper answered.
"The guy who wears the lobster suit and walks around the restaurant making everyone feel happy." Charlotte explained.
"Yeah, one time Lobby helped me find the bathroom when I really needed it." Schwoz added.
"Captain Man! Captain Man! Please you've got to find Lobby." The man begged and my dad and Henry shared a look.
"Ah, alright! Exactly what vehicle was the freak driving?" My dad asked the man.
"It was a truck-"
"A green truck with four wheels!" Another man intervened.
"Green truck, four wheels, got it." My dad repeated, "and um, what direction was he headed?"
The man started to explain to him the direction and I heard someone's phone go off.
Jasper groaned, "now Piper's calling me!"
Henry groaned, "ah, man! I forgot about Piper!"
Jasper moves away to talk to Piper and Henry reached for my dad's phone.
"Uh, excuse me, can you please hold?" Henry asked the manager, politely.
"What, no don't-"
"Fantastic!" Henry put the man on hold and I looked back at Jasper and Charlotte.
"Don't drop your phone in the brown soup!" Charlotte exclaimed.
"But I don't want to talk to her right now!" Jasper protested.
"Jasper! Give me the phone, because you dropped mine in brown soup!" I demanded.
"Deal!" He beamed and handed me his phone.
I answered it, "hey, Piper!"
"Bella! I am so mad at Henry!" She snapped.
"I know, I know! It's just that, I'm-"
"My dad ate most of his shirt!" She interrupted and Henry heard this making a face
"What, why?!" I asked her.
"Cuz, he's loopy on dental medication!"
Henry took the phone, "alright, I'm on my way to you right now, just stay where you are-"
My dad hit Henry.
"Just stay where you are!"
My dad hit him again, and I glared at my dad.
"No, I'm driving to you!" Piper yelled and my dad continued to hit Henry's arm.
"No, no. Don't drive to me, I'm driving to you." Henry protested. "Ow! What? What?!"
"You can't let your sister see you dressed as Kid Danger." My dad reasoned.
"I'll change my clothes." Henry remarked.
"You can't change back now! We've got to find the freak who kidnapped Loogy!" My dad protested.
"Lobby!" I corrected.
"Well, I have to give my sister my house key, okay?" Henry objected.
"Okay, are you a sidekick or just a regular kid?" My dad reasoned.
That's a difficult question. Both?
"Bingo, Ray! That's a central conflict that defines our relationship!" Henry exclaimed.
"Dah!" My dad grunted.
"Henry! Where are you?!" Piper yelled.
"Uh, I-I don't know! Where are you?" Henry asked her.
"I'm on Madison, about three blocks before street boulevard." Piper explained.
"That's actually really close to where we are right now." My dad mentioned and moments later we heard a loud crash and all of us got worried, surrounding Henry's phone.
"What's going on?!"
"What's happened?"
"Piper!" Henry called, "Piper?! Piper?! Are you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, we're alright!" She said and I sighed with relief. "We just hit a green truck with uh, four wheels."
That a specific description.
It sounded like she was with Lobby, because I could hear his voice.
"Piper, are you with Lobby?" I asked her.
"Yeah, he's right here! I just hit the truck he was in." She remarked.
"She saved my life!" I heard Lobby call and all of us were relieved by that.
"Now can we get to the Boo Man Group?" My dad asked and we all agreed, except Henry
"Wait, wait, no, no, no!" Henry interrupted, "we still have to give Piper my house key.
"Hey, hey! There's an accident!" My dad called, looking out at some cars. "With a green truck up ahead! See!"
"Oh, yeah." Henry says and I noticed Lobby was standing there. "There's my dad's car, pull over and I'll give Piper my house key."
"No, no, wait, she'll see you dressed as Kid Danger." My dad protested.
"I don't know what to do. What do we do then?" Henry asked.
"Just give me the keys." My dad said, motioning with his hand.
"What?"
"Just give give give me the keys."
"What are you gonna do?" Henry asked him as my dad took the keys.
"Tell your sister to make Lobby move to the right." My dad told Henry as he rolled down his window.
"Piper, can you make Lobby move to his right a little?" Henry asked his sister and my dad leaned out, getting ready to throw the keys.
"Alright, fine." She sighed, "Lobby, will you move to your right a little?"
Once Lobby moved, my dad tossed the keys right into the Piper's car, smacking her in the face.
"Ow!"
We all cheered at my dad.
"Alright, she got the keys!" I smiled.
"Boo Man Group!" My dad yelled and we all cheered as my dad honked the horn and music played along with the disco ball dropping. We all danced along to the song and Henry grabbed my hand, pretending to dance with me and I giggled, kissing his nose.

I'm excited for this one🙃
Also, I wanna apologize for the lack of Mary in this story. She'll appear more, like in Saturday Night Lies she'll make an appearance, but in season five she will be in most of the chapters.
Do you guys like the thought of Ray getting a love interest?
