Sherri Valance stood in front of her body mirror as she buttoned up her black blouse- In fact, her entire outfit was black.
She hated it. Black was the color of sadness, evil, and most of all: death.
It was strange, Sherri thought, how someone you see everyday, and know so well, could be gone so fast.
She loved Bob Sheldon, and he loved her. He had his flaws, but Sherri learned to look past them, as she knew she was flawed as well.
Losing him through a bad breakup was a fear of hers, but she never imagined death.
A small knock was heard on her bedroom door. "I'm almost ready. Just give me one more minute." She answered.
The door creaked open, and Sherri's mother peeked in. "Your father is waiting in the car-" She saw Sherri fumbling with the hook of her pearl necklace, "Oh, let me help you with that sweetie." and swooped in to assist.
"Thanks." Sherri lifted her auburn hair, as her mothers cold, gentle fingers caressed around her neck, and adjusted the pearl necklace.
Finished with the task, her mother then put her hands on her daughters shoulders, and squeezed them lightly. "Are you gonna be okay?" She looked through the mirror and into Sherri's eyes concernedly.
Sherri felt the tears weld up in her eyes, as her mothers tone triggered them. But she held them back, knowing that if she cried now, she wouldn't be able to stop. "I'm fine." She lied.
Her mother gave her a light fake smile. She knew her daughter was lying, but decided it was better not to press it. "Okay, let's go."
Watching the blur of the trees go by as they drove, Sherri couldn't help but think about the boy she met named Ponyboy Curtis. It was possibly maternal instincts, but she was worried for him. He seemed too young, and kind-hearted to be dealing with such troubles as being attacked on the streets. And now his troubles were heightened, because his best friend, Johnny Cade, had died. Though she felt sympathy for Ponyboy, she wasn't mourning Johnny's death, for he was the reason Bob died, and murder wasn't something that was easily forgiven.

"What the fuck is this?" Dallas scowled as he pointed to a red, swelling spot on his left arm.
"Lemme see." Doctor Hayes took his arm and examined it. "Hmm, it seems your wound has been infected." Squinting his eyes into his glasses, he inspected further. "No signs of pus, leaking fluids, or even decay. So it's only minor. However it will still need to be treated immediately. Gun shot wounds can cause deep tissue infections because they penetrate so deeply into the body, and infection occurs based upon the bacterial load and host defenses to eradicate the inoculum-"
"Speak English dipshit."
Hayes ignored the insult. "I'll get a nurse to come in and clean it up while we get you ready for surgery."
"Surgery?? Fuckin' shit. You didn't tell me I was having surgery!!" Dallas tried to sit up, but was met yet again with a sharp pain in his abdomen. "FUCK." He spat.
Hayes chuckled, amused to see Dallas inflict pain onto himself. "I came in yesterday and told you, but then you yelled, 'Fuck you damn Socs!' and hurled the bedside Bible at me."
"What?" Dallas knitted his eyebrows. "I don't remember that."
The doctor gave a confused look. "What do you mean you don't remember?"
Dallas threw his hands in the air in frustration, causing himself pain from the wounds in his arms, but he ignored it. "I don't fuckin' know! All I remember is that the little dark-haired broad comin' in and givin' me some kinda medication. She said it was painkillers." But as soon as he said that, he immediately knew what happened.
He was drugged.
Hayes gazed at the wall, contemplating before realization hit him.
"Shit-" He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "REBECCA!!"
A few moments passed until the door creeped open, and Rebecca's head popped in. "Yes Doctor?" She batted her eyes innocently.
Hayes walked over to her, and spoke in a hushed murmur so Dallas couldn't hear. But Rebecca's response was easy to catch, "I'm sorry!" She apologized, "But he scares me alright? I just couldn't get through the check up with him fully acquainted."
Dallas's nostrils flared in anger, and his lip curled in a snarl.
Rebecca suddenly wasn't so cute anymore.
"Who do you think you are?" He spoke low. His voice threatening.
The nurse's eyes made contact with his, then widened in fear.
Dallas spoke again, "I said, who the fuck, do you think you are?" He narrowed his blistering eyes, and curled his hands into tight fists, his fingernails cutting into the palms of his hands.
"I-I-I'm s-sorry-y" Her entire body shook.
Before anyone else could even blink an eye, Dallas lunged for the drawer at the bedside. Opening it up, he grabbed the closest sharp object, which happened to be a needle, and chucked it as hard as he could at Rebecca's head.
The needle threw through the air like a bullet, then jabbed into the wooden door- just barley missing Rebecca.
She shrieked in horror, then broke out into sobs. Her hands fumbled for the door handle, then she darted out.
"Jesus Christ." Hayes cursed under his breath. He stormed over to Dallas and opened the same drawer, pulling out a different needle.
"What the hell are you doing?" Dallas growled.
The doctor ignored him. "You're getting a full exploratory laparotomy. It's for your abdominal injuries." He filled the tube of the needle with some sort of green tinted substance.
Dallas knew what he was doing, and tried to move away, but the throbbing pain in his arm from hurling the needle at Rebecca was too much to handle already.
"I'll get you out of here soon enough." Hayes then stabbed the needle into Dallas's arm, and hastily injected him with the substance.
Then he spoke under his breath, thinking Dallas wouldn't hear, "then you can go back to your home: prison."
Dallas groaned a little as dizziness took over. His whole body began to feel numb, and his eyelids got heavy, as he struggled to keep them open. "And when I get out...." His voice wary, "....I'm gonna kill you." And with that, he closed his eyes, letting the blackness seep in, and passed out cold.
