Got Vodka?
It's Monday morning. I am up at 7 in the morning, I'm starving and I had sex with a dancer I just met. Oh god, I'm terribly easy but I don't regret doing it. I haven't even called him since that Saturday night and I don't know why! Should I call him? Do I avoid him? Wait I can't avoid him, he's Darlene's ballet instructor, fuck.
"Bonnie! I've been calling you for 3 minutes!"Troy shook my shoulder. Must've been so deep in thought that I didn't realize he was talking to me.
"I'm sorry, Troy. What's up?"
"Our chauffeur is on vacation, Dad said you have to take us to school."He said. Crap. I was hoping that I would be able to take a nap.
"No problem. You should probably get ready soon."I yawned causing him to nod then yawn also. Huh, whaddya know? Yawning really is contagious. As he was about to leave, Cotton crawled into my mind."Hey, Troy...What days do you and Darlene have to go to hockey and ballet?"
"Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays."He said as I let out a sigh of relief.
"Great. Start taking a shower and do whatever it is you do in the morning. You guys got until 7:30 so I suggest you hurry."I remember that they start school at 8:15. Ehhhh, that's really early.
"Oh, me and Darlene are ready. It's Rebecca. She'll be ready by 8:30."He said as I groaned."None of our previous nannies could ever get her out her room this early."
"I'll be back."I stood up from the couch in the living room and made my way upstairs. I've dealt with this for 5 years, this is nothing. I knocked lightly on her door.
"Ugh! What?! I'm busy, go away!"Her voice called out from the other side of the door.
"Watch it, young grasshopper. We need to go soon so hurry it up."I said to her.
"Well you all have to wait, I'm busy."
"If you don't open this door right now, I'm barging in."
"Good luck, the door is locked and I'm not getting up."
"Sweetie, I can easily pick this lock."I shook the doorknob frantically so I can annoy her enough to open it. Didn't work.
"Sure you can, sweetie."She scoffed. Is she mocking? She did not just mock Bonnie Aphrodite Cleopatra Sinclair....Jesus, that is a long ass name. I sighed, taking two bobby pins stuck in my hair and went to work. In about 2 minutes her door was unlocked and I pushed it open to see her shocked face as I was on one knee. I stood up to lean on the doorframe.
"I told you. Be downstairs in 10 minutes or I will pick out the ugliest thing I can find in my closet and force you to wear it. Troy and Darlene are ready and it's unfair to them that you take forever to only stare at yourself in the mirror and Snapchat everything..."I scolded her as she pouted then crossed her arms.
"Fine."She rolled her eyes.
"I already warned you about the eyes. 10 minutes or you're gonna be wearing a Christmas sweater."I said to her then left. I have a strong feeling that I'm gonna go gray early.
"Where'd you learn to do that?"I heard someone ask from behind me causing me to jump. Troy stood there with an amused smile.
"Uhhh I was a...Girl Scout?"I tried to lie. Oh god, I was actually asking it instead."I learned how to pick locks to impress a guy I liked."
"To impress a guy? Did that actually work?"
"Like a charm. Said it was the coolest thing he's ever seen. And a turn on."
"Cool.....do you think it would work on girls?"He asked tucking his hands into his pocket.
"Depends on the girl.....is there a girl involved?"I asked. I hope not because I'm not made for the 'Girl Trouble' department. It's hard since every girl is not like me. I would take a meatball sub over flowers and a teddy bear...I should have a meatball sub for lunch.
"I mean, kinda. Well, more like girls involved. I already play hockey so that's attractive to them and I'm super good looking so that's a bonus but I wanna keep them on their toes, surprise them a little when they find out I know how to do something cool like pick locks or play the electric guitar or ride a motorcycle. Just something that keeps me in the top 3 of the most popular guys."He said to me.
"What?"Was my only response. I didn't understand what he was trying to say to me at all. Now I'm trying to remember did I ever help Zeke with any girl problems when we were in high school?
"You wouldn't get it...but like it would be cool to be able to do one of the things I said."He smiled.
"Okay.....so maybe I can be able to teach you how to do one of those things."I titled my head a little with a slight smirk. It's definitely not riding a motorcycle, I can't ride those for shit. So guitar it is!
"Seriously? Cool!"
"It's not lock picking though. Your father would probably be really upset if I taught you that."
"I mean it's kind of educational because I'm learning."He smirked at me then went downstairs to join Darlene. Rebecca finally walked- correction- stomped out of her room and down the stairs to join the rest of them. Mr. Kane exited his study just in time to see his oldest daughter reluctantly go down the stairs. His blonde hair was messy and he had on thick-rimmed glasses....Would not mind waking up to that.
"How did you get her out?"He asked with a shocked expression."A tornado warning wouldn't get that girl out."
"Classic trick: I threatened her with ugly clothing. I used it on my sister before and it proves effective."I smiled brightly with my hands on my hips.
"Wow...Good job."He nodded then went back to his office leaving me with a goofy smile. I did good. You did good, Bonnie. Soon enough I gathered up the kids and we were out the door by 7:30.
After getting into the car, I drove off after they put on their seatbelt. Mr. Kane told me how to get to their school and already set it on the GPS so I'm all set. But now it's awkwardly quiet in here so I'll just put on some music. I fumbled with the radio as I heard my favorite song when I was in middle school and to this day. I have to sing along. I'm sorry.
"I was so high, I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes."The minute I sang this line, Troy looked at me with wide eyes then back at his sisters.
"The chaos that controlled my mind
Whispered goodbye as she got on a plane
Never to return again
But always in my heart, oh!"I continued as I drummed on the steering wheel.
"This love has taken its toll on me!
She said goodbye too many times before!
And her heart is breaking in front of me!
I have no choice 'cause I won't say goodbye anymore, woah, woah, woah!"I had no idea that we almost missed the turn so I quickly turned the car which caused everyone to jerk to their right."Sorry kids!"
"It's fine....You sound really good when you were singing."Troy complimented me.
"Thanks! I ever told you guys I was really into music? I even majored in it in college."I smiled looking at the review mirror to see Darlene's grinning face and Rebecca's scowl. Someone's not a morning person.
"How'd you become a nanny then? Music didn't work out, huh?"Rebecca scoffed then looked at her phone once again.
"Well, since I was fired from my previous job and I needed a new one. My dad's boss told your dad I was interested and I got it...One thing about me is that I'm not gonna lie to you guys. Ever. I may lie to other people but not you guys. I want you to all trust me."....That was the most grown-up shit I've ever said in my entire life...Oh god, am I...maturing?!...Wait no I'm not. Me and Richie laughed for 15 minutes about a poop joke the other day. Phew, I scared myself for a minute.
"Bonnie! This is our stop!"Troy shouted as I slammed on the breaks to stop completely. Okay, Bonnie, don't think and drive. The kids hopped out the car one by one after I parked.
"Aren't you going to walk me inside?"Darlene's adorable voice asked me. She stood outside of the car as Rebecca was already chatting with her friends.
"I would take her but this is the first time I'm early and I actually get to see my friends. Usually, I always take her."He said while holding his sister's hand. He looked down at her then back at me.
"I got it. Go hang with Boone and Trevor."I smirked getting out the car to be with Darlene.
"Thanks, you're truly awesome!"Troy smiled then ran to his friends who stared at me in the distance. Damn my good looks. Darlene's small hand latched on to mine as we started walking towards the giant castle. This shit looks like Hogwarts! It's actually bigger than the college I went to. God damn.
"My class is through this door."She began to guide me through the corridors. The hallway was a long stretch. Our footsteps echoed throughout the halls, I felt like they were so loud but most likely it wasn't. Looking down at Darlene, I noticed that she wore a big grin on her face the whole walk to her classroom. Oh my god, this hallway is freaking long! And now I have the sudden urge to yodel because now I'm wondering how awesome it would sound with the echo in this hall. Soon enough we made a left and Darlene led me into her classroom.
Now there were over 20 little kids staring at me. Cool. That's just cool....Okay, one kid is staring at me and picking his nose. Pretty gross but I'm cool.
"Mrs. Moons, Mrs. Moons! This is my new friend I was telling you about!"Darlene flagged down a small brunette woman. Who I can only assume is Mrs. Moons turned around with a grin and looked down at Darlene. Holy crap, she's super pretty. Everyone I've met since becoming a nanny is like model status.
"You must be...Betty is it?"Mrs. Moons smiled looking directly at me.
"No! It's Bonnie. Her name is Bonnie, she's my nanny!"Darlene gave me a toothy, or in her case, toothless grin. Well I mean she was missing about three teeth but I couldn't help but smile back at her because she's too freaking adorable.
"Believe me, I knew your name was Bonnie, I just was just kidding around. You're all she talked about on Friday. I know she always has a new nanny but you...she's so excited about you."The petite woman said to me and I'm actually kind of shocked. I just started working with them and she's so excited about me already.....Now I feel guilty. I feel like I'm gonna let her down. I can't explain my guilt but if you were in my shoes, you'd understand.
I'm a person who has a hard time with committing. I usually never get anything done or I just procrastinate. This commitment issue started when I graduated college when I learned what the real world was like. It's really hard to commit to something, that's why I'm always losing my jobs or haven't been in a relationship...Why the hell am I thinking about this in a classroom?...I'm a mess but hey all messes can be cleaned up right? Maybe this nanny job will be different for me. I'm not gonna screw this is up.
Darlene and all her little friends began to crowd around me in a little circle. Awww, they're so tiny.
"Hiiiii."They all said to me as I looked down at them. With a smile, I waved at all of them.
"This is Bonnie, my nanny. She lives with us."Darlene spoke up as she gently tugged on both of her pigtails. I squatted down on the floor to reach her eye level. Thank god I wore my cargos today.
"Hello, little kids. Hey, Darlene, class is about to start and I gotta get a move on. Sooo this is where we part."I said holding up my fist to her and she just looked at it."It's a fist bump, dude. I know you watch enough Disney shows to know what it is."
She cracked a smile and responded to my fist bump. I love fist bumps. I remember when Cali was one, I spent a whole hour teaching her how to do a fist bump. It was successful and one of my biggest accomplishments to date. I don't know anyone else that did that and I don't want to because I want to feel like the only one.
"Yeaaah! I'll be back later to pick you up, alright?"
"Alright...dude."She mimicked me then laughed hysterically. I never thought hearing a seven-year-old mocking me saying dude would cause me to have this big ass smile on my face.
***
"Oh look at the Nanny."He teased as he stood in front of the restaurant in his favorite olive green T-shirt. I swear every time I see him he's wearing that shirt.
"I see you still have that green shirt. What are you? A cartoon character? You don't change your clothes?"I laughed at my baby brother as I threw my slender arm around his neck."Or do you have a bunch of the same outfit in your closet?"
"Now you know me all too well. That's exactly what I did."He mushed my face and tried to pry me off of him. Uh-uh, when it comes to my baby brother, I'm a leech. I'm not coming off that easy."Glad you could meet me for lunch."
"Not a problem but thank you, Zeke, for choosing the Dark Corner. I mean we could have gone to a hot dog stand."I let him go as we walked into the job where I was fired from a week ago.
"Who told you to steal food from your job? Which I have to say was the most idiotic thing you've ever done. Why'd you do it?"I forgot that I told Zeke what happened the next day. I could literally tell him anything. Zeke and I are just super close ever since we were kids. We're like twins but only two years apart. Does that make sense?
"Hey, I only did it because..... I only did it because!....because.... huh, why the hell did I do it? Oh god, I am an idiot.... I just realized how lucky I was that he didn't blackball my dumb ass."I passed my dainty hands over my face. It's like I learn how to fuck up more and more each day. I'm like the Beyoncé of fucking up; I'm great at. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't notice Zeke pulling me into the place."Dude, there's an hour wait."
"I made reservations since Thursday. Just wanted to cheer you up since you got fired. Zeke, table for two."He said as the waitress led us to our table. She's new here so I guess she's my replacement.
"So to cheer me up...you booked a reservation at the restaurant, I was fired from?"I tilted my head at him as I sat down in my seat."Boy, your head must stink."
"Why would it? I use mango shampoo."
"Nooo because your head is up your fucking ass, you doofus."I threw a straw at him as we sat down.
"I honestly wasn't thinking. I'm sorry but obviously, if an employee had to steal the customers' food, it musta been good!"He laughed clapping his hands together then started playing with his light brown hair.
"Shut up. But how is my favorite brother? Update me. I wanna know about school, your job, your love life, your morning routine, I want to know everything."I joked with him earning a chuckle out of him. Mission accomplished.
"Well getting my masters ain't easy, Bon. But it'll be worth it soon. My job is so fucking boring that I actually count the staples in the staplers on my desk. I'm still seeing Veronica."Okay, let's get this one thing straight about Veronica... I fucking love her! She is the kindest, most sweetest person I've ever met in life! Zeke actually met her at an internship they were doing and they found out they went to the same college. After a few weeks, they started dating and they're about to make two years soon. I won't tell him this because it'll freak him out but I really want him to marry this girl. She's perfect and absolutely crazy about him. I hope he realizes that he's not getting any younger.".... and after shaving I use aloe vera."
Oh shit, I completely forgot that he was still talking to me. Just nod, Bonnie. Just nod at him.
"Hello and welcome to the Dark Corner! I'll be your server for the day! My name is...oh no way." I heard that shrill, high pitched voice as she tossed the menus down on the table. Oh my god, fuck.
"Monica. Coincidence seeing you here."I answered back trying to shield my face with the menu to block the awkwardness.
"I work here. What? You thought that after you cursed me out and walked out of here you thought you'd never see me again?" She glared down at me."It hasn't even been a full week yet."
"Honestly, yeah. I thought after you have a dramatic exit from somewhere you'd never see anyone from that place again. Well, you'll see important people like I see my best friend still. I just thought you would kind of like...forget and sort of fade out of my life."I answered her back.
"We live in the same town, Bonnie. We went to the same college."She crossed her arms, continuing her glare. Damn, it's hot in here.
"Uhhhh this is my brother Zeke."I introduced him as he waved at Monica but kept his blue eyes on me. He is probably so confused.
"Oh hi Zeke, should I fuck him now or later?"She pointed at him. Okay, now he's most likely super confused.
"What?!"His eyes widened from her statement.
"Dude! Monica look, I only said that last week because you snitched on me. You ratted me out to Keebs. You ratted me out because I was his favorite. If you didn't tell on me I wouldn't have said that."
"So you didn't sleep with Eric?"
"Oh no, I did. I most definitely did that and do not regret it nor do I regret cursing you out. You have a talented brother you know?"I joked awkwardly at her but she was not having it."You're going to spit in my food, aren't you?.... Yeah, I thought so. Go get Richie."
"You're such a slut."She gagged then began to walk off.
"Your brother didn't mind."I waved goodbye to her then flipped her off. I looked at Zeke who was trying his hardest not to fucking laugh.
"Bonnie, what the fuck did you do?"He hollered out while laughing and clutching his chest.
"No baby brother, the question is who did I fuck."I sighed while passing a hand over my smooth face then remembered something I had to tell him."But, oh shit, I almost forgot to tell you about this. I was at mom's house on Friday and guess who popped up?"
"Uhhh, I don't know. Dad?"He asked still looking at the menu. I knew what I wanted before I even came here; baby back ribs with mashed potatoes and no I do not give a damn that it's brunch, I want my ribs. God, I love food."You gonna tell me or just stare into space?"
"Shut up but yup! It was dad." I answered and this caused Zeke to look directly at me instead of at his menu."And it was like she was expecting him to come over. I was actually the uninvited guest."
"No way! You gotta tell me everything that happened."So I did. It may seem like a minor thing but for us this a huge deal. We both love our parents so much and we hated when they began to fight. The disagreements started when me and Zeke were both away for college so I can't even imagine what Cali was going through."Do you think they'll get back together?"
"I don't know! I really hope so because I hate seeing them like this. It's devastating because growing up they seem so happy together and is it me or do they seem even more miserable apart? Dad has been really down lately but when he visited her, he was like...a whole new man."I said to him. And my dad was always kind of mopping around the house after the split but on Saturday he actually seemed happy.
"I know what you mean, Mom just walks around her house sighing and looks at her ring."Zeke fumbled with the menu once more. While I was super close to my mom, Zeke was super to our mom. He's always over there because he lives in that area. But now that he mentioned her ring...
"Hold on, I know dad wears his. Mom doesn't wear hers."
"Uhh, where have you been? Yes, she does. Bonnie, I know you don't pay attention to little things like that but mom started wearing her ring about two-three months ago."He said and now I'm trying my hardest to recall if she was wearing one but I never really paid attention to her hands. Wait! I paid attention when she was giving me my sandwich. Now; Was she wearing a ring?......... Holy shit she was.
"Oh my god, Mom was wearing her ring! Maybe they're rekindling their love? Starting over?"I suggested over the chattering of other people in the restaurant. I actually forgot there was other people here, I guess I kind of drowned it out.
"Mom and Dad always loved each other. They were just going through some stuff."
"Yeah....You know that we can't interfere with whatever it is they're doing, right?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean like...because we could be misreading the whole situation and if we get involved, we could fuck up something because we thought something totally different. So if mom and dad are planning on getting back together, we have to make them feel comfortable, like no one is pressuring them. We just gotta let it happen, lil bro." I smiled messing with a salt and pepper packet that was left on the table by previous customers.
"Understood. You're absolutely right." He smiled back at me but then his smile fell as he looked around."Literally no one came and took our order. You had to piss off the waitress."
"Hey, I pissed her off a week ago. Just didn't think she'd remember, I didn't." I shrugged as I scanned the room for Richie and finally found him in his favorite spot which was this ill-lit corner-wait, no! He was literally standing in the dark corner of the restaurant. Boom! References! Standing up I marched over to him and grabbed him by the arm.
"Bonnie? What the he-What are you doing here?"
"Duh, I'm a customer now. And I need a waiter because me and my brother are fucking starving." I dragged him over to our table and took a seat with our menus open.
"Zeke? How are you man?!" Richie smiled at my brother as they clasped hands. How long has it been since they last seen each other? I'm thinking 4th of July or maybe even Memorial Day. All I remember is that it was hot outside.
"I've been great, man. How's it go-"
"Hey, hey, hey. I'm hungry as hell and I am on the edge of becoming a cannibal...So take my order Richie, or you may be apart of it."I glared at the both of them. I honestly never skip a meal. There's nothing I love more than food, man. Like, I love lobsters but I don't like breaking out into hives. I'm actually upset I'm allergic to some stuff but I don't think that'll stop me. That'll be sad... to be killed by something you love...Well, at least I'll die happy....I think there is something honestly wrong with me.
"Jesus Christ! What is the matter with you?"Richie placed a hand on his chest as he looked at me with a terror-stricken face.
"I'm not me when I'm hungry. You know how I am about food. And because I was here waiting for so long now I have to get something to hold me until my second lunchtime."I rolled my eyes then looked at the menu once more until I found what I wanted."I want the Ribs 4X4 with mash potatoes and a sprite, no ice. I want a full cup."
"Bonnie...that's to feed a party of four, hence the name."He said as I stared at him blankly.
"I'm aware."I answered confidently. This is nothing new to me. Richie just stared at me then looked at Zeke.
"...I'll just have a burger, man."Zeke laughed as he looked at me. He laughs now but wonders why I always won when we played wrestling, he was as feeble as a twig. Correction- is as feeble as a twig. But hey, he's my brother and I love him. I'm just happy I was able to hang out with him and now I can see him more often since I live closer to him now. Wow, this nanny job actually has many benefits for me other than putting money in my pocket. I think I'll hang out with Zeke until I have to pick up the kids.
Yeah. That's how I'm gonna spend my day today.
Taaaadaaaa!!! A new chapter😁😁I felt like this one was really long, I actually didn't go to bed until 4 in the morning because I had so many ideas and I just thought who needs sleep anyway!? 😂😂But anyway I hope you like it and enjoy 💕
