One warm summer's day a fox was ambling along, enjoying the sunshine. He came across a vine. (Nóa bắt gặp mụt cây nho)

Juicy bunches of grapes were hanging from its branches, ripe and ready to be eaten.

The fox was thirsty, so when he saw the grapes, he wanted to eat them right away.

Walking back a few steps, the fox took a run up and jumped and almost reached the grapes. "I'll try again," the fox thought. He took a few steps back, counted to three, and ran and jumped again, but he still couldn't reach the grapes.

"Third time lucky!", the fox said and jumped for a third time. But he still couldn't reach. He tried again and again until he became very tired and couldn't jump any more.

The fox thought for a while, put his nose in the air and said to himself, "Well, I'm sure the grapes were sour anyway!"

It is not еasy to like what you cannot get.

"13" is a crew of producers composed of SCORE, Megatone, LUKE, EDEN, and HLB. The group is responsible for producing/co-producing songs for various artists involved in the Korean and Japanese pop industries.

Their sound is known to be quite varied yet still distinctive. Many of their songs highlight dynamic percussion and powerful vocal sections, bass guitar also seems to be a focus along with robust choruses.

"Blue Flame" is the 3rd track of LE SSERAFIM's debut mini-album "FEARLESS". "Blue Flame" is bright and breezy song with a funky retro-pop baseline and dreamy cords. The lyrics compliment the melody as they talk about a desire that is as hot as a blue flame (which signifies the highest temperature a fire can reach).

"The Great Mermaid" is track number 4 on LE SSERAFIM's debut mini-album "FEARLESS". The song itself is an energetic track comprised of a bassline that resembles ocean waves and harsh sounds that complement the rebellious nature of the girls characterised by the lyrics. The title of the song is a reference to the Danish literary fairy tale "The Little Mermaid", and the song (musically and lyrically) opposes the story as they grab the attention of the listener and sing about not needing "love" or a "Prince". Overall, the song gives the message of fierce independence, which is complemented by the harsh and sudden end of the song.

"Sour Grapes" is the 5th and final track of LE SSERAFIM's debut mini-album "FEARLESS".The song is a soft R&B track with soothing lyrics and a mellow beat that's akin to biting into a soft cake. However, opposing the sweetness of the melody is the lyrics. Despite the dreamy verses and dreamy guitar plucks, "Sour Grapes" is about the appearance of "love" and how it links to the famous Aesop fable "The Fox and the Grapes".The girls compare love to a grape. It looks sweet and mouth-watering on the outside, but they're scared of attaining it, thus they build the misconception that it's sour and unripe. Therefore describing love as akin to a "sour grape".

Buried Treasure: LE SSERAFIM – The Great Mermaid

Posted on by Nick, The Bias List.

Sometimes, b-sides deserve recognition too. In the singles-oriented world of K-pop, I want to spotlight some of these buried treasures and give them the props they deserve.

I wish LE SSERAFIM's debut mini-album had one or two more songs to really flesh it out, but it's a consistent work that quickly establishes their sound. I like that they've chosen one production team to oversee the tracklist, even though there are many more guest cooks in the kitchen. I'm not sure all those additional collaborators were needed, but that's the way a lot of modern pop music works.

Blue Flame delivers a great groove, building naturally from title track Fearless. But, I think I prefer The Great Mermaid by a hair. It's slightly more daring and idiosyncratic, giving the group an electropop makeover that suits them well. I don't want to get carried away, because the group's music is nowhere near this level yet, but its rugged synth and creative vocal melody remind me of f(x).

There's a massive f(x)-shaped hole in the K-pop market, and it's nice to hear a non-SM girl group attempt a similar style. The vocals here have a lot of character, providing a much greater range of tone and texture than we heard on Fearless. The Great Mermaid's pre-chorus and chorus are particularly impressive, delivering a well-arranged shot of gritty drama that rewards repeated listens. The song holds back more than it should (it could be weirder and bigger!), but LE SSERAFIM are still in an exploratory phase. With that in mind, they'd be wise to use this sound as a building block for their next title track.
