"The ocean was calm and cool, the large galleon bobbing along on the waves as its sails carried it into the unknown... Yeah right like any ship would go anywhere without a purpose, like seriously what kind of ship goes somewhere and yet nowhere?"

Anthony sighed and put his quill down where he'd been writing in his waterproof journal, he got up from his chair to the calming feeling of the boat rocking back and forth as the waves hit it time after time as it made its way through the water. Its destination... HIS destination was somewhere he never wanted to go but was forced to. He made his way over to the door of his cabin; passing bits of furniture, paintings, clothes, maps and books. He tugged open the door to be greeted with the smell of salt as he came out to onto the deck, immediately sailors and guards swamped him asking if he was okay and spice versa.

Shaking them off he made his way over to the side gazing out at the ocean, he sighed wishing to be away from this boat. He wanted to jump off and never come back ever again, to be free like a bird. There were footsteps behind him and he turned to see his best friend Alex there with a serious look on his face, "What's wrong Foxy?" He asked when he saw the look on the fox hybrids face. Alex sighed and spoke, "We're in the Resonance sea... There's a legend that in these waters lives a 15ft long merman... He sinks ships who dare pass this way" there was a snort and a sailor came up to the pair.

"Alex quit scaring the prince, the legend ain't real and this is the only route to the Pink Ribbon kingdom" Anthony cringed at the name but neither noticed as they were too busy arguing over the legend. Anthony caught words like 'devour' and 'purple' before he zoned out to stare at the ocean. He swore he saw a shimmer of something huge in the water making its way towards the ship but he passed it off for a school of fish...

Well he got the fish part right but no it wasn't a school of fish... It was the very being Alex wanted to avoid...

He swam closer, making sure not to be seen by the sailors as he made his way to the boat. He thought of all the names and insults and the anger he felt then, his rage grew as the urge to destroy grew. He scanned the deck and violet eyes rested on the prince; they took in his blue eyes, his night black hair, his clothing and his figure. The male found his anger ebb away as he gazed at this man, he wasn't a sailor and he wasn't a hunter... He looked rather sexy... The males face heated up from the blush spreading across his face. He suddenly changed his reason to sink the ship, want clawed its way up into his mind, his hands itched to wrap around the male and never let go. He licked his lips in anticipation and dove deep under so as to not be seen, his need would be fulfilled and he'd have the male all to himself.

Alex paused and his ears twitched, he began to bark orders in a high panic to the sailors and guards. They obeyed with confusion but that evaporated as the ship suddenly lurched as a massive force hit the ship from one side. Anthony yelped as he was thrown across the deck, smashing into some barrels and tearing his clothing a bit. He winced as he picked himself up, hand on his abdomen as it was bleeding slightly. A medic came over and patched him up using healing paste and bandages before the boat lurched again. "WE'VE GOT A BREACH IN THE HULL!!!! WATERS COMING IN FAST!!!! WE'RE GOUNG TO HAVE TO EVACUATE!!!" Anthony stumbled to a smaller boat.

The merman growled as his human made his escape, the human was meant to be his not run away! He built up his strength and swung his tail, smashing through the decking in front of where the human was standing causing the ship to break in two with his human on one part, the rest of the crew on the other. He purred as his human flailed about, trying to get a hold of something as the boat tipped. He swam forwards only for something sharp to puncture his back and he let out an inhuman screech which sent chills down everyone's spines. He twisted round and found spears with roles on the end, twenty men were pulling on each rope. How dare they! How dare they try prevent him from getting his chosen human! He shifted and suddenly his hair responded as if it had a life of its own, it tugged out the spears and he sent a giant wave at them with a powerful blast of magic.

Anthony struggled as the cords bound him tightly to the mast, he was up to his torso in water and he couldn't get free. Using one of the only options left to him he opened his mouth and screamed.

The merman's hearing peeked to the sound of a scream, he turned and saw his human tangled in a bundle of cords slowly drowning. Panic settled in and he abandoned the sailors and swam towards the distressed human, he reached out and tore apart the ropes. The human tried to get away but he wrapped his hands around him and squeezed a bit, the more he squeezed the more the human let out air before he passed out. Concentrating a purple bubble formed around the human, giving him oxygen and keeping him safe from drowning. The being let out a purr of satisfaction before swimming off to the nearest island with his human in tow.

Little did they both know that they would be soon thrown into a whirl of events that would change both their lives...
