1| Papaito

The trendy beats from a newly released song drowned in silence which was then overpowered by a new set of lyrics from another song. "Papaito, look!" His son, Dohun, didn't try to incorporate an accent while calling for Jungkook's attention towards the TV screen.

The beaten eggs he poured in the pan now started to sizzle with the rhythm resonating through their home. Jungkook looked up from his duties and after catching on to the beats, he started swaying his hips too. A Monday morning couldn't be more energizing than dancing to K-pop songs. Jungkook quickly plated the breakfast before untying his plaid apron and joining his son to the front row.

While the father and the son warmed-up to show their talents during the main chorus, the door to their shared room opened hastily and Seulhye walked out in the panic of oversleeping. "Mom, watch us! Papaito taught me the dance to this song!" Dohun quickly said before getting to his position beside Jungkook.

She rested her shoulders despite the Monday hustle and smiled at her spouse with a knowing look. Dohun and Jungkook's giggles played louder than the music during their performance. Towards the end, they pulled an overdramatic pose and winked at Seulhye which got her rolling on the floor laughing and clapping. "That was beyond my expectations! Dad's finally teaching you some good stuff now, huh? Though, what's up with calling him papaito?"

"Yesterday, papaito taught me how to say dad in Spanish. There's papi too but he said he likes papaito more." Dohun raised his hands in the air to explain the deep meaning behind calling his dad with a Spanish twist.

Seulhye shifted her glares from the son to his dad for his testimony but he shrugged and smiled proudly in response. "I was trying to be a cool dad, you know? I didn't know he'll pick it..." His sly smirk faded away when she just laughed at his attempts.

"That's really impressive though, any new words for mom?" She held Dohun's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, expecting to hear another fancy word she had never heard before but the only noise that resonated through their house was of the man from a commercial.

"Uh, we were gonna work on it today. Yeah, Dohun?" Jungkook placed his hand around Dohun's shoulders in a light grip to pull him back. "Right now, dad will drive him to school while mom can eat the breakfast dad cooked with love just for her." He exaggerated the words with a grin and leaned in for a small peck.

Not like he didn't know it hurt Seulhye but he liked to tell himself that she didn't mind much when she smiled back.

Dohun was already wrapped like a burrito in his school uniform by Jungkook earlier that morning. With a neatly sliced sandwich in his hand, Dohun seated himself in the passenger's seat beside Jungkook. There was not much to talk about so he quietly munched on his breakfast. "This is delicious, thanks, papaito."

Jungkook could barely smile, mind too occupied with the same thoughts of Seulhye on hearing the Spanish word. Would she be too sad over it? Will she bring it up when I go back home? "We have to learn a new word for mom today, okay?" He let out with a huff of breath. He wasn't trying too hard to achieve anything; he was just doing his part in their marriage.

When Dohun didn't verbally agree, Jungkook distracted himself from the road for just a split second to check on his son. There was something that had caught Dohun's attention intently. "Dad... What happened to your neck?" Jungkook checked the several dark purple reminders of his last night with Seulhye in the rear view mirror.

A shy smile decorated his face as he remembered the night more vividly. He felt a tingle travel down his spine when his memories unintentionally got clearer but he had to answer his son at the moment so he hopped out of his thoughts and said, "Uh, I guess it's a mosquito bite."

Dohun nodded along and bought the lie but his eyes were still lingering on the hickeys. "You should use mosquito repellents..." He was worried because the marks looked much severe than the ones he get after playing in the park. The mosquitos definitely don't bite humans that passionately but Dohun was too young to understand the difference.

"Of course." Words rolled out as Jungkook scoffed. He stopped himself from saying something perverted, a reference his son couldn't catch on. The engine sounds halted in front of their destination. "There you go, do well. Dad loves you!" He patted Dohun's back while the little boy jumped out of his seat and made a heart above his head as a reply, just the way his dad had taught him.

Jungkook chuckled and stayed there until Dohun quietly walked inside without talking loudly with any companion unlike other kids around him. Quite similar to Jungkook's childhood self, not like he didn't have friends back then but he just didn't find the idea of shouting through the hallways and making his presence obvious an idea of his interest.

Dohun soon met his friend though and Jungkook could leave peacefully. While he hummed to a song playing in the background, he felt happier than a few moments ago. He didn't have to worry about the conversation with his wife anymore. He knew exactly what he will say the moment he sees Seulhye; he had a fun incident to share. With this thought, he stepped on the gas paddle harder and drove through the empty roads.

There was something entirely good about knowing what to do, having a clear idea of the future. As for Jungkook, he might appear to be a sorted person, living the days of his youth back at home as a kept man but there was so much more to his daily life. Every day, he had to give up on his interests to entertain his son. Even then, knowing what he can teach Dohun on that particular day could let Jungkook be better off. He liked this feeling, a feeling which wasn't confusion.

He was back to their home before his thoughts could leave him, the instance with his son back in the car still making him laugh to himself. The door to their home opened before he could unlock it with his keys. Before she could shush him, he spoke. "Seulhye, you know what?" The expression of low warnings on her face went unnoticed by Jungkook as he couldn't contain his excitement anymore. "Dohun saw these hickeys in the car." He pulled his collar lower to further expose his wife's doings. "And I said it's mosquito bite!"

His thoughts were funnier outside his head yet she didn't seem to catch the humor. Instead, her head held low in what he could only perceive as embarrassment. She gathered the courage to look in his eyes, there was nothing she could do to change what had been done. "You have some visitors..."

Only then did he notice the three different pairs of footwears that certainly didn't belong to the residents of the Jeon house. He moved past Seulhye in horror to see his friends already peeking their heads and welcoming him. Seulhye followed behind with a flushed face.

They had overheard the couple's conversation and as if to confirm that, one of the three men stood to greet the shocked duo. "Hey there, Jungkook and... his mosquito."
