Kendo was born into a working class family and he wasn't the best behaved guy...in fact, he was voted most likely to end up in prison with how he acted sometimes. But, there is a reason for it.

His at home life wasn't the best. In fact, it was very much less than ideal and it's why he acted out like he did. He purposely got himself in trouble so that he wouldn't have to go home.

However, he misbehaved one too many times with his Mom, so once he was old enough she enlisted him in boot camp to get him some discipline. He wasn't actually a bad kid, he was just trying to survive.

When he was twenty, he was enlisted in the Japanese boot camp for the army, and he had gotten into the Japanese Military. When he came back from his training, it was like Ken was a different guy. He was much more respectful, and he was humbled.

While in the army, he learned that he really liked planes. He was taught in high school, but didn't take much interest in it. However, in the army he was one of the ones that flew the fighter planes.

One day, at the age of twenty six he was off duty so he was back home in Japan where he grew up and he had met a beautiful young woman named Ayame. Being in his somewhat old ways, he had asked her out when he first saw her. Only three months of being together, he proposed to her and they got married before he went back to the army.

The two had their moments where they bickered, but they talked it out over video when they could.

While in the field, at twenty eight he was on the battlefield rather than flying the planes and he was fighting alongside his other soldiers and there was a bomb going after one of his friends, so he went and he saved his friend covering him taking the blast for himself. Leaving him unconscious and vulnerable on the battlefield until some of the others pulled him back to the camp and shipped him home, since his condition was really bad.

When Ken got home, he was immediately sent to the hospital while on oxygen and a giant bruise on his back, still not waking up. His wife, Ayame was worried sick since he was paralyzed, and his body was in so much shock that it couldn't even process all the pain he was feeling.

Eventually, after about a year in the hospital, he was in good condition for the most part. However, he was paralyzed from the waist down and he couldn't feel anything. Making it impossible for him to go back into the army, and him feeling very small in his now vulnerable state. He had his wife who helped him, though as they both adjusted to their new lifestyle together.
