Chapter Four: A Few Tests

"Cat toys? Really?" Keith said saltily.

"Not just any cat toys!" Lance replied triumphantly. "Cat toys I accidentally brought from Earth! We have a laser pointer, balls of yarn, a scratching post, a cardboard box, a feather wand, a rubber mouse, the two plastic bags that I used to carry everything in, and some other stuff."

"Okay... And why did you bring this cat toys to my room?" Keith asked.

"Because we need to test if your 'Galra/cat instincts' will take over when confronted with a cat toy." Lance explained.

Keith sighed. "Lance, I'm not going to all 'cat' just because-"

He stopped, memorized by the feather wand that Lance was swinging in front of his face. Keith's Galra-like pupils blipped and expanded, and he began batting at the feather with his clawed hand.

Lance smirked as Keith grabbed the feather on the end of the wand and pulled. "Not going to go all 'cat', huh?"

Keith continued tugging on the feather wand, all natural common sense lost. He suddenly gave a large tug; Lance tripped and fell onto Keith, knocking him to the ground. The two paladins lay in a rather... shipping-like position; Lance was inches from Keith's face. Keith had regained self control once the feather wand had been knocked out of sight, and was now blushing with fierce intensity. He pushed the blushing Lance away, not realizing that his Galra form gave him extra strength. Lance flew through the air and landed on the bed.

"Soooo... uh... let's continue the cat toy tests like nothing happened, okay?" Lance said with a tiny hint of awkwardness.

"For once in my life, I agree with you." Keith replied, still sitting on the floor. "The forget everything part, not the continuing part."

Lance smirked. He picked up the ball of yarn, and began throwing it in his hand.

"Too bad we're continuing no matter what you say." he said, watching Keith's yellow eyes once again blip and follow the yarn's movements.

He tossed the ball of purple yarn at Keith, who let out a very cat-like yowl. The yarn hit Keith in the side of the head, and he fell over. Keith began batting the ball of yarn, and soon became a screeching whirl of claws and purple yarn. Lance watched in amusement from the safety of the bed.

Soon, Keith was helplessly tangled in purple yarn. His eyes regained their senses, and he sat up with as much dignity as one could muster while covered in yarn.

"Lance. Say. Nothing. If. You. Want. To. Live." he growled.

"Nothing." Lance said, then burst into laughter.

"LANCE!" Keith yelled, launching himself at the razzle-dazzle paladin.

Lance ducked to avoid Keith's claws, leaping off the bed and grabbing a small metallic cylinder before rushing out the door, the angry Galran paladin chasing close behind.

Lance ran like his life depended on it, which it did. But just what was the strange device he held in his hand? Find out, next time.

Hi everyone, good news! I'm back! I lost the password for Wattpad and was locked out of the account (and story) for a long time, and eventually forgot about it. I recently found the password, and am now free to continue this story! Hopefully the next chapter won't take another year to complete!
