Chapter 1: The First Day

Olivia walked into the school, not completely sure what to do. All eyes went on her as she entered the classroom. She saw an empty seat in the back of the classroom and sat down.

"Now class," the teacher said. "My name is Mrs. Kathy, and today, we're gonna work on getting to know each other."

She handed each kid a piece of paper, and asked them to fill it out, then switch with someone in the room. Olivia filled it out as best she could.

Everyone else quickly switched when she told them to, but Olivia had trouble finding a partner. Finally, a girl with chestnut bronw hair and light brown eyes smiled at her. "I got it," she said, and switched quietly with her.

She seems nice, Olivia thought, before the teacher came to the front of the room.

"Okay class," she said. "Read your paper out loud, but do not day the name, only the nickname. Let's start with, you, yes, you in the back."

It took me a minute before I realized she was talking to me. "Uh," I began.

Name: Sara Grace Winters, I thought.

"Nickname: Gracie."

"Age: Ten."

"Family: Mom, Dad, little brother, Wrandy, older brother, Sander."

"Pets: None."

Olivia went through her paper and people then started to guess. It wasn't hard. Basically everyone but the other new girl knew who Sara Grace was.

When it was time for the girl, who Olivia assumed was Sara Grace, to read her paper, no one really knew who it was. It got to the point where the teacher just asked whoever it was the raise their hand.

Olivia raised her hand. "What's your name?" Mrs. Kathy asked.

"Olivia," she almost whispered.

"Ah yes," Mrs. Kathy said. "Olivia Waters. Guys, please meet our newest student."

"Hi," everyone said, almost all at once.

"Hi," Olivia replied.

That's pretty much how the rest of that morning went. It wasn't until the class took a bathroom break that Olivia met her first new friend officially.

Olivia stood up and looked around in the awkward silence. A few of the girls had stayed back and were talking by the sink. The one with chestnut brown hair from earlier smiled and motioned for her to come over.

"Hi," Olivia said shyly.

"Hey Olivia!" the girl said. "So, in case you're wondering, I'm Sara Grace by the way. And this is Bailey and Tori."

"Hey," Bailey said.

"Hi," Tori said.

Bailey and Tori were both shorter, while Sara Grace was taller than Olivia, and Bailey had brown hair while Tori had dirty blond. They smiled at Olivia and she smiled back.

"You can sit with us at lunch if you want," Sara Grace continued.

"Okay, thanks," Olivia replied, and they soon had to get back to class.

Later that day when they switched classes, they had a ten minute free time to 'mingle', as their teacher put it.

Olivia saw a curly-brown haired girl sitting by herself at a desk. "Hi," Olivia said, almost with confidence, as she walked up to the girl. "I'm Olivia, what's your name?"

"Kacey," the girl replied.

"That's a cool name, I'm new here, as you can probably tell," Olivia went on. "What do like to do?"

"I play Minecraft," Kacey replied. "Do you?"

"Yeah," Olivia replied. "But not as much as I play Pokemon."

"Oh, I play PokeCraft," Kacey said. "It's the same thing, just in Minecraft form."

"Awesome!" Olivia said. "We have a lot in common, wait, do you like MLP? If you don't please don't hate me."

"I love MLP!" Kacey exclaimed. "I have a shirt with-"

They then said it together, "Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash!"

The two girls giggled. "Wow," Kacey said. "You know, you and my best friend Amy would get along really well. Hey, wanna sit with us at lunch?"

"Uh," Olivia replied awkwardly. "Sara Grace kinda already asked me to sit with her, Bailey, and Tori."

"Oh, you're on of those girls," Kacey said. "I get it, never mind."

"Wait, what do you mean?" Olivia asked.

"Well, not really Sara Grace, or Bailey for that matter, but they sit with these kinda mean girls," Kacey explained. "They hate me and Anna."

"Oh," Olivia replied, almost shocked, those girls had seemed so nice earlier. "You know, I think I'll sit with you and Anna."

"Awesome!" Kacey said.

.....at lunch.....

"Hey Anna," Kacey said, sliding into the seat in front of a blond haired girl. "This is Olivia, she's new here."

"Cool," Anna replied. "Is she nice?"

"Duh," Kacey replied. "Why else would I bring her here?"

"Okay," Anna said. "Do you like singing?"

"Um, yeah," Olivia replied. "I used to do solos and other stuff at my old school. My best friend and I actually did a talent show once, but it didn't have a winner, they called it a Music Showcase."

Anna nodded. "Do you like to draw?" she asked.

"All the time," Olivia replied. "Man, you guys remind me of Kenzie."

"Is Kenzie your best friend?" Kacey asked.

"Yeah," Olivia replied. "We've been through everything together."

Anna nodded. "I don't know what I'd do without Kacey," she said.

The three talked all through lunch and all through recess afterwards.

Since Olivia went to after school, or day care as they called it at her new school, she waited until everyone left before heading down to the lunchroom for day care. She was surprised that Kacey was right behind her. "You go to day care?" Kacey asked.

"Yeah," Olivia replied. "I thought I was the only one."

The two sat down their backpacks and took out their binders. Each girl grabbed a few pieces of paper and a pencil. They both drew until their parents got there. Then Olivia had to explain her day to her father as they drove home.

At home, Olivia messaged Kenzie on their e-mail.

Livybug46: Hey, how was school

Kenziegirl23: U weren't there, how do u think it was?

Livybug46: Sorry

Kenziegirl23: No biggie, how was yours?

Livybug46: I met two girls named Anna and Kacey, and they seemed really nice

Kenziegirl23: Cool, well, I gtg eat dinner, ttyl

Livybug46: Kk

Olivia shut down her laptop. Her mother soon called her to dinner. She tried to message Kenzie later that day, but got no response. She soon fell asleep, still worried about what the rest of this week would bring.
