Chapter 21
Hey guys! Wolf-chan here with the next chapter! I have nothing more to say so enjoy!

(Y/n) didn't know why she did it but Mari just seemed like she needed a hug. The entity's good side, however scarce it was, must have suffered the entire time she took lives to become powerful enough to take Mitsu's life.
"It's okay Mari. I forgive you but that doesn't mean that you won't pay for what you did," (y/n) said. And with that, (y/n) summoned her double sided spear and stabbed her. Because of the command word spell that (y/n) had used, Mari didn't fall immediately but when (y/n) backed up and released her from the command word, Mari fell on her face. Then Mitsu appeared from a smoke that came from nowhere.
"You did it, nya! You saved our lives!" Mitsu said. Mari had trapped her sister in a portable cage that was completely invisible to the human eye until broken. Now that the cat was free in more ways than one, she was overly excited, but (y/n) was not happy. She only snapped out of her dazed state when Add came up to her and hugged her all of a sudden.
"You scared me, you know that," he whispered. He had been acting differently toward her ever since her return to the library. It wasn't necessarily a bad change though. "What's wrong with you? I thought you'd gone crazy for a second and now your making that face again," he said when he let her go. She knew what face he meant. She would always look a little sick and her eyes would be glazed over a little whenever she felt something was extremely wrong.
"Oh I know what's wrong with her! She's so happy that she doesn't know how to express it! No more Mari! No more death! Nya!" Mitsu exclaimed. Add ignored the cat and focused on (y/n) instead.
"You probably just need some sleep. Who knows how long it's been since you've actually had any," Add said as he grabbed her wrist and led her back to the library and away from Mari and Mitsu. Something wasn't right though. It shouldn't have been so easy to fight and kill Mari. From what (y/n) could tell, Mitsu had fought her for hours and so had Add and they both lost so why had she prevailed. Surely a simple command word couldn't have made that much of a difference.
(Y/n) had been upset that all of Mari's bloodguilt had been passed over to her, but (y/n) didn't exactly feel it. Her heart was as light as ever. Mitsu rushed ahead of them and went right into the library. Despite the cat's still apparent bruises and cuts, Mitsu was in too good of a mood for (y/n) to call her back.
Instead, she just looked back at where Mari was and stopped to watch her body dispers into particles of light and disappear. Add had stopped as well, but he still kept his hand firmly around her wrist. "Add, that fight with Mari...it was too easy," she said when she faced him.
"Don't worry about it right now. I'm sure that she won't bother us anymore. If she had to take as many lives as she said, it will be a long time before she bothers to try anything. Now come on," he said reassuringly.
They started to walk again but (y/n) stopped once more. "Add...if I had actually gone crazy and gotten myself killed, would you have been sad?" she asked. (Y/n) wanted to know the truth. She wanted to know if he actually cared, if he was actually changing. He let her wrist go and pulled her towards himself as if to give her another hug but stopped himself.
"Like I said before, you scared me. It takes a lot to scare me," he said. (Y/n) knew this to be true so she believed him.
"Thank you, Add," she said. He let her go and continued to walk without her this time. When she started to follow, he said, "You're welcome...Reaper Angel." He then disappeared down into the library before she could say anything. It was the first time he acknowledged the nickname that she was given by their enemies. She had always wanted him to call her that, but he never would until now.
[4 Years Later]
"Boo!" (y/n) yelled as she ran reappeared from thin air right in front of Add. He only stared at her with the same bored expression he used every time she tried scaring him. "Aww man! How come it never works!" (y/n) exclaimed. Add walked around her leaving her to sulk.
"Probably because you do the same tricks over, and you never time them properly. And I'm also not afraid of you. Did I mention that I'm not afraid of anything," he said as he went back to work. He was creating a new nasod technology to help him in battle. He was also doing things in his laboratory nowadays.
"Well I didn't ask you all of that, Mastermind," (y/n) said, teasing him with the new nickname she had given him in the past years. He hadn't rejected the nickname even once although he preferred his actual name be used.
"I answered your question didn't I," he muttered as he walked past her again to retrieve something. (Y/n) pouted at his lack of playfulness. He was always so serious when it came to his new studies.
"I will scare you one day, Add. Even if it mean's that I have to use the oldest trick in the book, I will do it!" (y/n) said. He walked past her again and ruffled her hair before returning to work on his invention again.
"Yeah, okay. Have fun," he said as he continued to focus on what he was doing. (Y/n) sighed and left him in the lab. She then began her search for a book that could hold the key to helping her scare Add. She searched for a while until she finally found what she was looking for.
"How to Scare the Soul Out of Someone: For Dummies? Are you serious? Why is this even here?" she complained.
"No idea, nya, but it's worth a try," Mitsu said from inside her head. The cat had become more mannerable and was far less deceitful now. With the book in hand, (y/n) went to her room and began to read. As she kept flipping the pages, she didn't find anything she hadn't tried already...or so she thought.
"Hm? Hey Mitsu, what's a ghost?" (y/n) asked. She truly had no idea what a ghost was.
"Nyaa! Did you just say ghost! Why that's the most terrifying thing on this world, nya!" Mitsu said. (Y/n) knew she was being hysterical but she decided to go with the plan anyway. Once she'd figured out how to pull off the plan, all she had to do was wait. (Y/n) waited until she and Add had finished dinner and gotten ready to go to sleep.
"Hey, Add. I think I left my jacket in your lab. Can you go get it?" she asked. He only looked at her in confusion.
"It wasn't there when I left earlier, but you can just use my jacket if you need one that badly," he offered as he walked her to her room. He'd always walked her to her room ever since she had killed Mari. At the time he started doing that, (y/n) was always worried that Mari would come back and kill them both. She had long since gotten over that, but Add never stopped escorting her.
"No. I don't want your jacket. I want my jacket," she claimed. He only sighed at her and went to retrieve the jacket once they reached her room. The plan was to get Add to go to the lab in search of the jacket and have Mitsu become a dark shadowy ghost. She would leap from under the jacket and scare Add for sure.
(Y/n) waited in her room with the door closed and waited for Add to return. He did, but he was extremely shocked. He had flung open the door with her jacket in his hands clutching the poor thing like a pillow. He was on the verge of tears, and when her saw her sitting on her bed so patiently, he rushed to her and tackeled her into a hug. He was shaking a little and he refused to let her go as he burried his face into her hair. (Y/n) had never seen him so frightened before and she wondered if she'd gone to far.
"It was a ghost, (y/n). A real ghost was there. It tried to get me," he whispered with a shaky voice.
"I know," she said with a sigh. Who would have guessed that Add's weakness was...ghosts.
"It was just Mitsu. I tried scaring you but I might have overdone it," (y/n) said as she started to rub Add's back so that he'd calm down. "I promise not to ever scare you with a ghost again," she vowed. Add only nodded but he didn't let her go. He was truly shaken, and that made (y/n)'s guilt grow. After a while he calmed down and left her in her room by herself.
(Y/n) felt bad about her prank, but she didn't let that keep her from sleeping. When she did eventually fall asleep, she didn't sleep for long. After what seemed like only an hour, Add came back. He had flung the door open again causing (y/n) to spring up from her sleep in alarm. When she spotted him in the doorway, he was actually crying and he was visibly shaking much worse than last time. Again he rushed to her and embraced her in a tight hug.
"Add? Did you see another ghost? I swear it wasn't me this time," she said. He crawled into her bed and lay down next to her which resulted in her being pulled with him.
"No...I thought you were gone," he whispered. His crying got worse as he seemed to recall whatever had happened to scare him.
"Add?" (y/n) called his name worriedly. He pulled her closer to him and since he was now taller than her, she ended up being held to his chest where she heart his heart beating too quickly. "Add I'm not gone. I'm right here," she said.
"But you were gone...because Mari did something to you," he whispered. (Y/n) froze at the sound of Mari's name. "Promise me that you won't do that again," he asked her. She had no idea what he was talking about but she agreed anyway.
"I promise," she said but when she was finally able to look Add in the face, he was asleep.

Just when trouble was supposed to end, it began again. But hey on the bright side, Add is a better friend to (y/n) now. Anyways, until next time because now I have another chapter to write.
