Chapter 20
The door to their cell opened just as Add was finishing up the adjustments to the counter frequency. He quickly sent the code to his weapons and Dynamo before anything was done against him. The little nasod dropped from the air into (y/n)'s arms as soon as the door opened.
"Come on, kid. King Nasod wants to see you. Bring the nasod, and leave your friend and the weapons." It was Raven that spoke. Add thought to use the counter frequency right then and there, but (y/n) spoke up.
"You don't remember anything, do you?"
"Don't start trying to play tricks. Just do what I say, and no one gets hurt," Raven instructed. "You're lucky King Nasod decided to speak with you again after that ridiculous stunt you pulled."
"What stunt? The only one being ridiculous here is you," Add said. He and (y/n) stood up to prepare for whatever was about to happen. Raven looked at them strangely, noticing that they were genuinely clueless about his accusations. "King Nasod must think that all human minds are shallow. Either that, or there was no time to properly make up a cover story in Raven's memories," Add thought to himself. "I'll be back, (y/n). Take care of my dynamos for me." He wanted to say more, but there was no doubt that Raven already suspected them to have a plan. Although he was brainwashed, Raven happened to be on the smarter side of the world's intelligence spectrum. The plan could still move forward without Add's dynamos in use, but the Black Crow commander had to be watched.
Raven began to lead Add back towards King Nasod's chamber by leading him through the factory again. Four Crow Prototypes were acting as escorts along with him to make sure that Add didn't step out of line. Dynamo was once again pretending to be inactive, and allowed himself to be carried just as planned. "Your friend there is staying behind in this place until you finish your job. Don't try anything stupid, and you'll both live." Raven had taken him further than he wanted to be. If he didn't act now, the plan's succes rate would drop by forty-eight percent on top of the twelve percent that he had lost when he was separated from his dynamos.
"I'm not sorry for what I'm about to do," Add warned.
"If you attack me, you'll be more than sorry," Raven threatened. The man stopped them there and gave Add stern look. His hand was on his blade, ready to draw it.
"Good. Then that makes this easier."
Add lightly tapped the side of Dynamo's frame. The nasod easily transmitted the frequency across the small radius that Add stood in. All of the Crow Prototypes and Raven were brought to their knees from it. Add hadn't expected the prototypes to react to the transmission, but he counted it as a success and stuck with his altered plan. "Activate self defense mode, Dynamo! Now!" He left his dear friend behind to keep everyone incapacitated and raced back towards the cell. Add and running in the same sentence. Who would have ever guessed?
"Affirmative. Self defense mode activated." Dynamo's voice was already a distant sound.
Add was making his way back to (y/n). The nasods working in the factory took notice of him immediately, and it was then that Add realized he didn't account for them without his dynamos. All of them seemed to be older models, but they were not simple enough to destroy with the small amount of charge that Add naturally had in him.
"Don't get in my way!" Add dropped down to slide underneath a pair of nasods that tried to grab him. He scrambled to his feet ready to start running again only to be grabbed by his hood. A strangled cry escaped his throat as he was lifted right from the floor and flung backwards. He crashed against a factory worker before tumbling across the floor. Raven was there just as Add tried to get up, moving faster than the eye could see. Within seconds, Add was being held up against a wall by the collar of his shirt.
"Didn't I say you'd be more than so-" Raven was cut off by Dynamo haphazardly colliding with the side of the man's head. Raven dropped Add to whirl around and lash out at the small nasod, but he missed by a longshot. The man dropped to the floor, cradling his wound and whining from the pain. "My head..." he hissed.
Add slumped down to the floor and rested against the wall. He could hear his increased breathing knowing that he had been close to gaining a wound of his own if Dynamo hadn't stepped in. His body ached, and he could tell that something was out of place. Even so, his nasod armor had protected him from a majority of the damage that he would have taken from being tossed around.
"Right, (y/n)!" Add hissed in pain when he attempted to get up. He needed time to heal. Just a couple of minutes was long enough. "Dynamo, go let (y/n) out. It'll be faster if you go."
"It's the frequency that I am outputting that's keeping those prototypes at bay. I advise that you finish the task yourself for safety reasons."
"I'll be fine. Just go. The faster she gets here, the sooner we can get this all over with."
Dynamo took a glance back at the Crow Prototypes that couldn't get any closer than the edge of Dynamo's output radius. Even the factory workers could not get any closer. "I cannot. You will not be able to sustain yourself against them."
"Just do what he's telling you to," Raven spoke up from the floor before Add could order Dynamo to go. "Leave those things to me." He slowly rose from the ground with his forehead dripping with blood. His blade was drawn. "We have some unfinished business to settle."
"Finally come back to your senses?" Add asked in a mocking manner.
"Oh don't worry, I'll deal with you afterwards, kid. Sit tight and watch a mercenary work."
The moment that Dynamo left the area, the nasods pushed forward to apprehend Add not realizing that Raven was not about to let them pass. Using his nasod arm, he caught hold of one of the prototypes' face and engulfed it in flames before slamming it against another.
"I'm not weak. I don't need your protection," Add complained. He stood, ignoring how his leg screamed at him, and waited for them to arrive. They'd be there. They were connected to him afterall. He knew just how fast Dynamo could travel. With them there, he could heal faster too. It was only a matter of time.
"Don't be arrogant. You can't fight like you are now!" Raven crossed swords with one of the prototypes before kicking it back. He quickly reached to pull one that had gotten past him. "Go to your friend. Don't get yourself killed." The words had no effect. Add stayed still and waited.
He felt them now. They were close enough. "The fight has only started. We need to get to that chamber." He entered Dynamo Configuration mode just in time to dodge a factory worker that had slipped past Raven's defenses. "I don't know about you," Add immediately crushed the nasod against the wall behind him. "But all these annoying nasods are making me angry."
