Chapter 18

Add was relieved to find that (y/n) had already figured out most of the situation before he returned. It saved him time on explaining things to her. Raven had left them to speak together in private, so after giving a brief recap of how they ended up in Altera, he gave her a warning.

"Raven is fully convinced that he is a nasod." Add replayed the words in his head that he had told (y/n). "Don't tell him that he isn't. He'll rampage and then forget what happened." Negotiations had been quite the struggle when Add first woke up. If he had known that Raven was so convinced that he was a nasod, Add wouldn't have even mentioned anything about it. Keepimg his mouth shut would have saved him some energy rather than using it to fight off the berserk captain.

Currently, the Black Crow airship was approaching the bottom of the island. Add now knew why all of the crew members wore masks. They were all human. Raven must have also thought he was commanding a group of nasods. The question was, who was responsible for this deception? Add honestly didn't care. He just needed to cooperate long enough to get away from Altera. Anyone twisted enough to trap a person in a false reality was someone Add wanted nothing to do with.

He was already doing his best to deal with the signal that was being transmitted to him from some unknown source. It was loud and unwelcoming. Now that he was so close to its source, it was nothing but irritating. Dynamo seemed unaffected by the disturbance, which baffled him, but Add made no effort to figure out why. The more he thought about it, the stronger the signal got.

The entire island was a nasod graveyard, and he had both a good and bad feeling about that. Part of him was itching to get his hands on new data while the other part fought to ignore the plethora of information avaliable so that he could focus on his medicinal studies. He had already come across a way to create medical drones. He just hadn't gotten the chance to get her the materials he needed to craft them.

The airship came to a stop near what seemed to be a port at the base of the island. Unlike a majority of the island, this section of the floating wasteland was not made of dirt. There were clear signs of rust across the metal shell surrounding the core of the island. Add determined that this was what kept the island afloat.

Raven headed over to the ship's railing and watched the ship gradually get closer to the side of the island. A large panel opened on its own, but it wasn't large enough for the ship to fit through. Instead, a bridge came from within the open panel like a conveyer belt and stopped just short of the edge of the deck. The bridge was wide enough to comfortably walk across without fearing any unfortunate missteps, but it was the wind that Add worried about. At this altitude, there was no telling what kind of gust might come their way.

"Come on. If you fall, there will be nothing I can do to save you, so don't try anything foolish," Raven instructed. He stepped on to the bridge and began to head into the depths of the island. Add amd (y/n) shared a glance of suspicion before he and Dynamo followed. Everyone else on the ship stayed behind.

The pathway that they found themselves walking along was well lit with old lamps that Add remembered well from his own era. Seeing them brought back both pleasant and unwanted memories to mind. The further they went, the stronger the signal got. It was pushed to the back of Add's mind while he chose to focus on other things. "This place is far more ancient than I imagined." He was starting to understand exactly what this place was. "Home of the nasods? No...all of Elrios was their home." He narrowed his eyes and looked ahead of them past Raven. "This is their place of exile. He thinks he's one of them. That means some must have survived." Nasod Ruler's goal was to completely destroy the legacy that nasods had left behind. Seeing this meant that they hadn't entirely succeeded. There was probably still hope for the nasod race, but Add no longer cared.

After walking a few minutes longer, they entered a large cavernous room that took Add by surprise. The amount of light was much better, even giving off a bluish hue to everything in the room. It was what sat in the middle of the large area that left Add speechless. Even (y/n) was dead silent upon seeing the enormous nasod floating in the middle of the chamber. Raven was unaffected and kept leading them towards the giant being.

A platform made of translucent material was displayed in front of them. Add couldn't tell what it was, but it didn't appear to be glass. The platform had two sets of stairs, one on the left side and one on the right. Raven led them to the left side before guiding them to the center of the room. The nasod floating there finally acknowledged their presence.

"Greetings, outsiders. I am King Nasod." He brought his large arms out at his sides as if showing off the room, or himself, to them. "Normally I do not allow outsiders to even set foot on this island because of the oppression that your people have caused us in the past, but I've graciously made an exception this time." Still Add could not find the words to say to this being. It blew his mind that a nasod of this kind still existed. "Raven tells me that one of you is adept in the knowledge of our kind. You can fix us. Perhaps even build us with that knowledge, can you not?"

Add finally realized that King Nasod was speaking to him as if already knowing. "I'm only here to give you the data that you want. I have no intention to help you rebuild your race. Do that yourself," he said.

King Nasod leaned down towards them. "There appears to be some sort of misunderstanding here." Add felt himself shiver from a sudden cold feeling that he got. "You don't have a say. You will give me the information that I need, and you will help. Or else..." King Nasod gave a slight nod towards them. Raven acted within seconds, drawing his blade on them and aiming the sharpened end of the sword at Add's neck. "You will simply perish, and I will continue my own progress without your help." Add's nasod armor would protect him long enough for him to move away from the deadly weapon, so he stood there and glared at King Nasod. (Y/n) was on high alert even though her stone had been confiscated already.

Add remained still. He didn't want to fight Raven again, nor did he want (y/n) to do so either. Add had gotten out of the fight unscathed last time because he had an entire ship to use as a way to avoid the rampaging man's assault. Here, they had very limited options and movement. Add had no doubt that Raven would tear into them like a wild beast.

"And you there, nasod of a different kind, where do you hail. You are not like the fakes that have been appearing lately, yet you have part of their technology within you."

        "That's Dynamo, I was the one t-"

"Silence!" King Nasod slammed his fist on the ground below the platform sending a shockwave up towards them. "I did not speak to you."

Add wanted to shoot a sarcastic remark at the king, but Raven had not moved an inch and Add valued his life. The Black Crow leader was almost like an entirely different person now. He would kill both Add and (y/n) without question if King Nasod so much as hinted at it.

"I am Dynamo. I ask that you do not speak to Master Add in that way. I will have no choice but to consider you a hostile force and therefore activate my self defense mode." The nasod servant said all of this with a smile. "I am not obligated to give out any information other than my identity. Please speak to Master Add regarding any further matters." Add didn't remember Dynamo being so passive aggressive.

"Master, you say. So you are programmed as a servant type nasod to aid that human." King Nasod made no sort of gesture, yet a command was issued directly the leader of Black Crow.

Faster than the eye could see, Raven got around Add and snatched Dynamo out of the air with his nasod arm. The small nasod expressed his shock with an exclamation point displayed on his interface. Add reacted just as quickly with his dynamos surrounding Raven, threatening to electrocute him if he made any further moves. (Y/n) was in a stance that suggested she'd pounce on Raven if he move another centimeter.

"Let him go!!" Add snarled. "I don't give a damn who you are! I'm not going to stand here and let you hurt him!"

"Altera is no place for nasods who do not mind servitude under the humans that oppressed our kind," King Nasod said. "I will create a world where we nasods can live without fear, without being ruled, without oppression." Add's breath hitched upon the realization that he and this nasod king had similar goals. "The mindset of that nasod is poison to the world that I will create. I will not allow outsiders to dictate what I-" King Nasod stopped speaking when Raven let Dynamo go. "What do you think you are doing, Raven?"

The man did not give an immediate answer. Instead, he glanced at Add and then (y/n) before taking a good look at his nasod arm. "What does that make me then? I too am a nasod, but I am your servant."

"Just do as you are told, Raven. You will be free to act as you please once my new world has been created. Your service is not in vain. Now, destroy that nasod."

(Y/n) had already grabbed Dynamo and held him in her arms to protect him from any further harm. Burn marks were outlining Dynamo's frame from the heat inflicted on him from Raven's arm.

"I refuse." Add watched the man reach up to hold his head. It was happening again. The very thing Add wanted to avoid. If Raven went on a rampage, there would be no stopping him here. "Am I not obligated to the same rights as my brethren? Why is it that every time I ask you about this...I ask you..." Raven's eyes widened in realization. "I'm not a nasod. No one in Black Crow is. Then why...?"

A sudden frequency reverberated across the room. Add and Raven both fell to their knees upon feeling its affects, but it was Raven who was more severely harmed by it. Add's chip implant swapped frequencies before any more damage could be done. Suddenly Altera was quiet, and the signal that once called to him no longer reached out to entrap him.

Raven, however, kept his head low to the ground, slightly tapping his forehead to the floor as if that would ease his pain. The frequency ended up rendering the man unconscious.

"Crow Prototypes, come take Experiment 137 back to his unit. Lock these humans in the factory with the failed experiments," King Nasod commanded.

Nasods that looked suspiciously like Raven practically spawned into existence around them. Add was still partially recovering from the mind attack that he'd recieved while (y/n) held on to Dynamo who still displayed his surprise on a glitching screen. Once again, they had nowhere to run.
