Chapter 33

Okay so here's the chapter. I wrote it right quick for ya.

[Minutes Earlier]

Reikon had gone invisible and (y/n) had put up some sort of barrier. "No, we need to do something. I know what she's trying to do," Time said, suddenly panicking.

"What are you talking about. She seems pretty safe to me. We should be the ones worried since we can't see Reikon," Esper said. Time ignored him turned to Add, taking his hand and placing something into it. He closed Add's hand around the object.

"Its the flash drive containing the information that you need to create (y/n)'s cure. I trust that you can do that without my help," Time said. It didn't take long for Add to realize what Time planned on doing.

"You honestly can't expect me to let you..." Add was saying.

"I'm not expecting you to, I'm telling you to," Time said. He turned to look towards (y/n). "There isn't much time. Don't worry about me. Esper and I live as long as you do and don't you forget that." Then he disappeared through a void. Add could only watch what happened afterwards.

[Minutes Later]

Add still had the flash drive in one hand as he hugged (y/n). She was still crying while Add and Esper were watching Reikon closely. The alter ego stared right into Add's eyes, making it clear that he was her next target. "Don't worry about it Add. I've got this. This is my fate. Despair. Emptiness. You and (y/n) need to make it back safely, so I'll ensure that you do," Esper said.

(Y/n) lifted ber head from Add's chest, looking to Esper in shock as she pulled herself out of Add's hug. "There's no way that I'm letting you go get yourself killed!" she said through her tears knowing what Esper was about to do.

He slightly smiled at her. "You aren't because I'm still going to be with you," Esper said pointing to Add. (Y/n) shook her head at him, wanting to protest further but not able to find the right words to say. Before she could even begin to find the words, Esper hugged her. "I can't believe it took this crazy sequence of events for me to realize just how much I appreciated your presence."

When he let her go, Add had to hold (y/n) back from going after him as he began to walk towards Reikon. She looked at him curiously before speaking. "What do you plan on doing? Come to try negotiating with me? It won't work," she said.

"I just had something to say to you," Esper spoke as he continued walking. Reikon eyed Esper suspiciously but his dynamos weren't in any sort of attack mode. Add and (y/n) watched with curiousity and worry, already knowing that Esper had prepared to die. Neither of them were sure if he would or not until Reikon suddenly went on the offensive.

"No, don't you dare say that!" she yelled at Esper as she suddenly surrounded herself in the same blades she had used to kill Time. He stopped in his tracks and stared at Reikon, trying not to focus on the blades.

"Do you know what she's talking about? She must have read Esper's mind," Add said to (y/n).

"I can't read minds right now. Reikon's energy is canceling out my own since it's greater now," (y/n) replied.

"I finally realized why you hate me so much," Esper said as he continued to walk towards Reikon. She sent one of the blades straight into Esper's gut, but after taking the hit, he remained standing and began to walk towards her again. "I hadn't realized it before because you'd never told me. Even if you had, I probably would have denied it," Esper continued as he walked.

"No, shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up!!" Reikon yelled, fear showing up in her eyes. She had hit Esper with four more of the blades that had surrounded her. Still, Esper did not fall and instead kept walking. Add, despite wanting to, couldn't tear his eyes away from the scene that was playing out in front of him. (Y/n) could and she had already buried her face into Add's chest again, not wanting to see anything else.

"I guess it's only because my memories have rearranged themselves..." Esper said as he continued walking despite his injuries.

"I hate you," Reikon said, impaling Esper with another blade. This time, Esper fell down and all of the blades, even those, around Reikon, disappeared as well. She was crying? Was Reikon actually crying? She stood there staring at Esper as he slowly began to get up. He began his walk again, his dynamos trailing behind him. Reikon did not stop him this time.

"I love you...(y/n). I always have from the very beginning of all of this. I just let the bitterness of failure change me. I'm sorry for that," he admitted once he stood right in front of her.

"But I'm not (y/n), I'm Reikon," she said.

"That's just it though. You are (y/n). You're just all of the negative emotions that she refused to show because she was trying to make me happy. I'm the reason that you're called Reikon, but if (y/n) had simply faced her bitterness, you wouldn't be here lying to yourself." Esper had put his forehead to Reikon's as he was speaking.

"You're wrong. I'm not (y/n) and I still hate you," Reikon bitterly spat.

"I knew you'd say that....which is why I prepared to do this," Esper mumbled. Before Reikon could ask what he meant or read his mind to find out, one of Esper's dynamos went right through Reikon's heart and she collapsed into Esper's arms. He picked her up and held her for a moment before he began to cry.

"That's what he meant. His fate is despair. He is destined to feel emptiness. In his timeline his only option is to kill her or watch her die," Add thought. It was truly a terrible fate, but the timeline that they were currently in would soon disappear and Esper along with his fate would be erased.

"Add," Esper called almost inaudibly. "The dynamo. It has what you need to save her. Don't fail," he spoke without looking at him. Add understood and he could tell that (y/n) did as well because she was the one to retrieve the dynamo. She was about to go over to Esper to say her goodbyes, but Add caught her by the shoulder, slightly shaking his head at her. She understood, but that didn't make anything better. Instead, (y/n) took Add's hand when he held it out to her, and they went back to their own timeline.

When they got back, they said nothing to each other and simply just sat in their livingroom and stared at a wall. Yes, there was a cure to be made, but neither of them felt like plugging in the flash drive that Time had given them. There was no doubt in either of their minds that there was a video file on it which mean that they would likely see Time despite him not being there. They also didn't know how long it would take to create the cure and didn't feel like trying to calculate the answer. "Add...let me make the cure....on my own," (y/n) finally said.

"What part of stop doing things on your own did you not understand," Add muttered.

"You can travel to the future and bring it back with you to the past," (y/n) continued, ignoring his statement.

"That would cause some sort of unwanted anomaly and you'll have turned into Reikon by the time you finish the cure," Add pointed out.

"I won't. Just trust me." (Y/n) was adamant on the matter.

"I'm not losing you!" Add snapped.

"You won't," (y/n) snapped back. Neither of them made eye contact. "I want to do this. Please, just let me. You need a break from all of this and I'm not going to allow you to spend more endless hours working again. You told me to let you help, and I am. You can help by going to the future." There was another silence as Add thought.

"I hope for both of our sakes that you aren't wrong," Add said as he handed (y/n) the flash drive that Time had given him.

"Thank you," (y/n) said as she took the little device and held it tight.

"How much time will you need?" he asked as he began to set his dynamos for time travel.

"At most, a year," she replied. Add nodded and entered the coordinates. He couldn't get them wrong this time because going past a year was too much of a risk, one that he couldn't afford to take. And so he traveled to the future for (y/n)'s sake.
