[Excerpts of (Y/n)'s Past 2]
When Add did get there, he found himself fourteen years in the future in the same spot. The place he was in was different and a door was where the little girl he had saved would have been standing. "Damn it. I got the coordinates wrong again...but she seems to have actually won the bet," Add muttered to himself as he looked at the less abandoned looking building that he was in. There were blankets in the room and signs that someone had somewhat been living here.
The door in front of him abruptly flew open, and a girl stood there with tears streaming down her face. Add just stared at the slightly familiar face of the girl for a moment until she shot forward and hugged him. Her crying got worse as she clung to him. "I knew you'd still come back," she spoke through her tears. It was then that Add realized who the girl was.
"You're still here. I'm surprised," Add said since he really was genuinely shocked that she remained.
"Go back. Take me away from here to your time. Just don't leave me in this one," the girl said through her tears.
"What? Why? You won the bet and you somehow still remember me despite..." Add was saying, now wondering why he hadn't pushed the girl away from him. She was technically invading his personal space and he rarely even allowed anyone to even enter it.
"They came back. They didn't kill me. They use me as a tool now. I hate it. They found out about my immunity to that disease and the reason I have my abiities," she explained as she hugged Add tighter, nuzzling against his shoulder.
"Right, but can you let me go. You're starting to cut off my air supply," Add said. The girl immediately let him go and muttered an apology. "How many years did you show up here just to see if I'd show up?"
"Every year since the day you traveled through time. I read your last thought before you left. You have time troubles," the girl explained as she dried her tears.
"I can't go back and change the past anymore. Saving you already probably caused a time anomaly and I can't risk that. Besides, I don't know where else I could possibly take you. Coming to my timeline isn't an option," Add said.
"You have to do something. I may not know you very well at all, but there has to be something you can do, please. I'm tired of being treated as a test subject," the girl pleaded.
"I have other things to do that are more important to me...but I guess I can do one thing," Add mumbled.
"What?" the girl inquired. She was eager to hear whatever option Add gave her.
"I'll come back and visit you here in the same spot every now and then. When I finish my own goal, I'll come back and only then will I bring you with me. The visits are to make sure that you're still okay. I know I said I couldn't bring you to my time but..." Add trailed off. His own words surprised him since he was never interested in anyone else's wellbeing but his own and his mother's.
"But what am I supposed to do about those people?"
"I don't know. I can maybe teach you a little bit of self defense or help you plan for an escape, but other than that, there's nothing I can do," Add said. His stubbornness was returning, and he wasn't sure if it was a good or bad sign.
"And you said you'd come back here every now and then. How will I know when?" the girl asked. Her demeanor was still sad but a little ray of hope was in her eyes.
"You won't. If you aren't here when I show up, I'll stay for a few minutes and eventually leave behind a note, I suppose," Add muttered.
"But that's not fair!" the girl whinned.
"I bet you'll find a way to work around that though," Add said with a shrug.
"You're the same as when I met you all those years ago," the girl...complained? Was that a complaint? Add wasn't sure.
"How would you even know that. You don't know me very well, remember." Add had decided that she was complaining.
"I can read minds, remember. Besides, you don't even know my name and yet I know yours," she countered. Add said nothing since she was actually right. Before he could ask, she simply told him. "It's (y/n) and don't you forget it. I should go before they find me though. Thanks for dropping by. I actually feel a little better now." She quickly left with a slightly sad smile making Add feel bad about not being able to do anything. But he couldn't compromise his goal for a stranger, that truly wasn't an option. (Y/n) went back through the door, shutting it behind her and leaving Add in the empty room alone.
It wasn't until his next two visits that he learned that (y/n) was actually a survivor of an unethical human experiment that took place before his initial arrival. Despite being used, she was well taken care of and well taught. She also had an adoptive mother or sorts that she didn't particularly like. Add found himself visiting (y/n) more often than he should have although he never could explain why in words. Over time, he learned that it was because he liked her, but he would never admit something like that even if he could.
Add still searched for his mother quite often, but he also visited (y/n) a lot as well to the point where he considered her a good friend of his and much more. She didn't read his mind much anymore, yet she usually knew what he was thinking. They talked a lot whenever Add visited and (y/n) always had some sort of story to tell him during which he'd occasionally get the chance to lay his head in her lap as he listened to her speak. When he had started teaching her self defense, he began to realize just how much he was rubbing off on her. She gained his stubbornness as well as his tendency to mutter a curse every now and then.
It was another training visit for Add and when he showed up this time. (Y/n) was waiting for him again. "I never did figure out how you were able to predict my visits," he commented.
"I have my ways," (y/n) muttered, not taking her eyes off of the floor. She was upset about something, but Add couldn't tell what it was just yet.
"You in the mood to learn a few things?" he asked her, deciding not to mention her demeanor.
"Sure," she said while looking up at him with tired eyes.
"Alright then. We can start with a quick sparring match if you think you can hit me that is," Add said, taunting her on purpose to bring out some form of happiness.
She smirked a little before getting into her own stance. "We'll see about that." The reaction was just what Add had hoped for, and then the match begun. However, she was being reckless with her attacks which was unusual for her, so Add got behind her and pinned her arms behind her back.
"Hey, what's with you today? You seem sader than usual," he asked, not able to simply ignore her mood anymore.
"There's nothing wrong with me. As you said, I'm always sad," (y/n) answered as she tried to escape his grasp.
"It was a joke, but I'm serious right now. I didn't travel all the way to this time period just so you could sulk through your training. What's wrong, huh?" Add set her free of his hold, but wrapped his arms around her to keep her from going anywhere.
"I don't want to talk about it," she finally muttered.
"Well you have to now. I'm curious," Add whispered into her ear. He pulled her closer to him and burried his face into her neck, boldly testing the waters for a reaction.
"I'm serious Add. I really don't want to talk about it. I don't really even want to think about it..." She was starting to get teary eyed, so Add let her go. He made his way to the corner of the room and sat on his dynamos, slightly upset from her lack of sharing.
"Can you at least cheer up a bit? Your negative energy is spreading," Add commented. He may have been a bit harsh on accident, but he was mostly worried.
"Why should I cheer up when this might be the last time I get to see you?" she whispered. Add's eyes widened in shock. The idea of him not being able to see (y/n) bothered him greatly. Something like this wouldn't have been a problem if it had been anyone else, but it wasn't. (Y/n) walked over to him and sat next to him. Add sat on the floor too so that he could lean onto her shoulder, suddenly craving affection.
"Don't you think that's something you might have wanted to talk about," Add said, sounding angry although he hadn't mean to.
"I didn't really believe it at first, but I know I can't avoid it anymore. They're going to kill me if I run off again," she quietly spoke.
"What do you mean if you run off again?" Add asked. He had sat up from her shoulder, now sensing that he was about to hear something he didn't want to.
"There's something I need to tell you," (y/n) said when she looked at him.
