Chapter 30
Draco's POV
"Get to the Great Hall. Professor McGonagall will be down shortly with instructions," I yelled in the Gryffindor common room after I talked Colin Creevey into letting me in. "I know I'm not the person you want to see, but I am the Head of Gryffindor House now, and I want to see you all survive. Please make haste!"
The students started to move towards the door while I made my way up to the dormitories. Once I made sure that all the students were on their way out, I had a quick thought about Severus. I wonder what had happened to him after he had fell out of the window. It had surprised me, and I was worried about him. I knew that he could survive, but I was more worried about him being on the wrong side. I needed him to choose my side, the good side.
"DRACO MALFOY!"
I turned to see Kamrynn and Astoria approaching me. I was heading towards the exit instead of following my house into the Great Hall. I didn't think anyone would be looking for me, with the exception of Courtney.
"Where do you think you're going?" Astoria asked. "It doesn't look like we're making good decisions by leaving the castle by ourselves."
I sighed. "I have to go. You both need to find Courtney."
I tried continuing on my path, but as soon as I put one foot forward, I had tripped and fell. Astoria came over and helped me up. She was glaring at Kamrynn, who just shrugged.
"I mean, I did stop him," she rolled her eyes.
"Draco," said Astoria, focusing on me instead, "you are the one that needs to be worried about. Courtney is not the one that is prophesied to die."
"So stop being a dumb-ass, and let's get you into the Room of Requirement," Kamrynn said as she grabbed my arm and started walking in the opposite direction.
I stood firm, which caused her fall into me. I steadied her. "Kamrynn, I apologize, but I don't have time for this."
I started walking towards the exit. I had thought that they had decided to listen to me and find Courtney, but I was wrong. Apparently, they had a slight argument before deciding to follow me.
"Where are we headed then?" Astoria asked as they had caught up with me.
I shook my head. "You need to go back to Courtney."
"Not happening," Kamrynn said, appearing on my other side. "You are the one being divvy here. You know you are meant to die, but here we are."
"She's not wrong," Astoria agreed. "We will protect you."
"Whose being twits now?" I stopped and looked from one to another. "I couldn't live with myself if either of you got hurt."
"Shut the fuck up," Kamrynn smirked. "Just tell us where we're headed, you dumb bitch."
I sighed. "I guess I have no choice, but I'm going to find Professor Snape," and with that said, I started walking again.
"Are you serious right now?" Kamrynn said, trying to keep up with me. "He's on the wrong side."
"If you're talking about Severus," Astoria chimed it. "I do have to agree. Are you serious?"
"Listen, he's not the enemy here," I told them as I opened the door to hear something over the Dark Lord trying to break the protection charms.
"He is going to reward us greatly if we bring him Harry Potter," said a very familiar voice that I only knew to be one of my oafs, Crabbe.
"You just need to leave Harry Potter out of this," I heard another familiar voice, much like Micah's.
My head turned to the left of the door to see Mitch and Micah struggling to hold back the giant dimwits known as Crabbe and Goyle. With two blondes on my heels, I made my way over to the four.
"What do you think you are doing?" I hissed. "Crabbe, Goyle. I'm talking to you two pricks."
"We were going to-"
"I heard what you were going to do," I interrupted him, going back to my old habits. "You think you two oafs could possibly take on Potter?"
"We have been practicing," Goyle replied.
Crabbe nodded. "We're top of our class when it comes to dark magic."
"You two are good at something?" I was astonished.
"Now, get out of the way," Crabbe said, standing up to me.
I heard Kamrynn laughing behind me.
I blinked a couple of time. "I beg your pardon? What did you just say to me?"
"Sorry, it's just that we don't need you anymore," Goyle said, looking down at the ground.
"And we're going to get Harry Potter, and there's nothing you can do about it," Crabbe shook his head. "You're just upset that we have potential now. We're stepping out of your shadow."
"He told you," Kamrynn said under her breath behind me.
"I don't think you're going to do anything of the sort," I replied, my hand gripping the wand I was stuck with, "Potter is-"
"We should go to Potter," Micah interrupted me. "We've switched sides, and we need to help him. Protect him from pricks like this."
"Fuck yeah," Kamrynn shouted and then jumped in front of me, looking from Crabbe to Goyle. "Listen, bitches, you two are going to come with us and play nice, got it?"
"And what makes you think we're going to listen to a girl?" Crabbe laughed.
Goyle smirked as well. "A tiny girl," he said, towering over her.
"Kamrynn," I started, but then she punched Goyle right in between the legs and then pinned her wand against Crabbe's neck.
"Now," Kamrynn said, "I don't think I stuttered. We could use your brute force, and I have no problem using the Imperius curse in order to get it."
"Kam, you don't have to go that far," Astoria said, prying her off of Crabbe.
"I think I got my point across," Kamrynn smirked as Crabbe and Goyle looked at her with sudden fear. "Just because I'm pint sized, doesn't mean shit."
"I need to find-"
"He's a big boy who can take care of himself," Kamrynn interrupted me. "We are going to do what that one-" she pointed at Micah "-said to do. We're going to find Harry."
"He's searching for something," Mitch said, rolling up his sleeves. "Does anyone know what?"
"Oh, I know this one," Kamrynn said excitedly. "He's looking for a Horcrux that Voldy put part of his soul into so he could live forever."
Astoria sighed. "She is right," she said, smirking at Mitch and Micah's faces. "He said something about the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw."
"What's a dia-dee-dee?" Goyle asked.
"A crown," Astoria scoffed.
"He's already looked in the Ravenclaw tower. So, we know it's not there," I said, giving up on the search for Severus. "Where else could he have gone?"
"Where do people hide things that they don't want to ever be found?" Astoria asked.
It then hit me. He was on his way to the Room of Requirement by now. I knew that Potter wasn't stupid, and if he was, Granger would have figured it out by now. I knew that it was risky going to protect what the Dark Lord had placed a target onto, but I knew that this is what I had to do. Micah was right.
"The Room of Requirement," I said, answering Astoria by locking eyes with her.
It wasn't as hard as I thought it take us to get to the Room of Requirement. The other death eaters must've gone off to prepare for the battle that was inevitably coming. There was barely anyone in the halls or on the stairs. If there was, they were not paying attention to any of us as we clunked up the stairs. Kamrynn ran ahead of us as I thought of the room where everything was hidden, which had to be what Potter was heading. The door appeared in the wall, and Kamrynn opened the door. However, Goyle shoved me out of the way and onto the floor, causing my borrowed wand to roll across the floor. I got up to get my wand, but by the time I had gotten it, Crabbe had knocked Kamrynn unconscious by using a spell to fling her head-first into a pillar. Goyle had binded Mitch and Micah back to back. Astoria had thrown a spell, but Goyle blocked it. I pointed my wand at them, but both had ran through the door. Astoria and I exchanged looks, both of us equally surprised at how fast they were moving.
"I'll unbind them," Astoria said, making her way over to Mitch and Micah, "and you follow them."
I ran through the door and saw the two dimwits standing side by side. I took this chance to check on Kamrynn, who was slightly bleeding from her head. Astoria, Mitch, and Micah appeared next to me.
"We've got her," Mitch said. "You guys take care of those twats."
Astoria looked up at me and nodded. I stood up and approached Crabbe and Goyle from behind. I could hear them talking to Potter about they would be rewarded if they were to capture him. I rolled my eyes and put my wand into Goyle's back. Astoria did the same with Crabbe.
"Hold it dip shit one and dip shit two," I said, interrupting what they had been talking about.
"Malfoy," Potter said from behind the giant I was behind. "What are you doing?"
I looked around Goyle and loooked him dead in the eye. "I'm with you, Potter."
"Harry, who are you talking to?" I heard Weasley's voice.
"Decendo!" Crabbe shouted.
The wall began to totter and fell where Wealsey's voice had came from. I heard Potter shout for him, and I was getting pissed off, which was a talent of Crabbe and Goyle's.
"If you wreck this room, you will loose the diadem," I yelled at them.
"What's a dee-dum?" asked Goyle.
I rolled my eyes. "The thing that Potter came in here to get. The Dark Lord would be upset if you loose it!"
I was hoping that the reverse psychology would work.
"It's Potter he wants, not the dee-doo," said Crabbe. "What? No, Potter! Crucio!"
I looked around Goyle again to see that Potter had reached out for the tiara, but was now writhing on the floor in pain. I knew I needed to do something. I just didn't know what to do. I looked over at Astoria, who was looking at me for our next move. I knew that she was smarter than I was. I searched her eyes, asking for help.
"STOP! The Dark Lord wants him alive!" I shouted at Crabbe.
"I'm not killing him, am I? Besides, He wants him dead anyway, so what's the differ-"
A jet of scarlet light shot past Harry by inches. I turned to see that Granger was beside Harry, and she had sent the spell straight towards Crabbe's head. It only missed because Astoria pulled him out of the way.
"It's that mudblood! Adva Kadavra!" Crabbe said, after gaining his bearings.
"DON'T KILL HIM!" I shouted at Crabbe.
Now both dumb asses had pulled their wands pointed at Potter, who I had heard cast the expelliarmus spell, causing Goyle to lose his wand. The giant leapt foolishly to retrieve it, which caused Hermione to send a stunning spell towards me. I jumped out of the way, towards Crabbe and Astoria.
"Adva Kadavra!" Crabbe yelled again.
Weasley jumped out of the stream of green light. Crabbe had taken off after Ron. Potter and Granger continued to look for the tiara. I made to help them search when I saw both Ron and Crabbe running up the aisle as hard as they both could.
"You like that, you hot scum?!" Crabbe roared as he ran.
However, the stupid prick could not control what he had done. Flames of abnormal size pursuing them, licking up the sides of the junk bulwarks, which were crumbling to soot at their touch.
"Augumenti!" Potter bellowed stupidly, but the water just evaporated as it poured from his wand.
"RUN!" Weasley shouted.
I pulled Goyle up to his feet and shoved him ahead of me. Crabbe ran out in front of us. Kamrynn had woke up and had started running along with Astoria, Mitch, Micah, and I. The Golden Trio had disappeared. The flames had gotten ahead of us and surrounded us. These were no normal flames.
"Fiendfyre!" Astoria and Micah yelled at the same time.
I started looking around for an exit, but I couldn't see anything.
"Maybe everything isn't burning," Micah said and held his wand up. "If this is a room where everything was hidden, there should be brooms. Accio broom!"
Mitch held his wand in the air and summoned a broom as well. Both Mitch and Micah got on their brooms. Micah made a gesture for Kamrynn to get on his broom, and Mitch for Astoria, but Goyle pushed Astoria out of the way and got on with Mitch. I gestured for them to go as I tried to summon my own broom, but nothing came to me. Courtney flashed before my eyes. I needed to get out of here. There was no way I was going to allow the prophesy to come true.
"If we die for them, I'll kill you, Harry!" came Weasley's voice from above.
I then saw Harry diving down to help us. He reached for my hand, and I grabbed it and was swung onto the back of his broom. I looked behind us and saw that Hermione had grabbed Astoria's hand, but a serpent had reached up and bit her leg.
"Astoria!" I yelled.
She slipped out of Hermione's grasp and back into the flames.
"We have to go back and get her!"
Potter made a hairpin turn just then. I assumed that it was because I had said we needed to save Astoria, but just then, the diadem fell from Potter's grasp. It seemed to fall in slow motion. Potter made to grab the tiara as it fell. I held onto him for dear life, not able to pin where it was at. I never did make a great seeker. He flug us all over as the serpent was trying to snatch us. Potter then reached out his wrist and caught the tiara on it right before swerving out of the way of the serpent again.
"Astoria!" I yelled again.
The serpent came up at us again, causing us to steer towards the doorway. It was becoming too smokey as we went towards the flames once more. This time the flames swelled angrily, causing Potter to swerve out the door and collide into the wall in the corridor. I fell off the broom and fell face down onto the floor. I got up and ran towards the door, where the flames angrily licked the doorway, starting to turn it into ash.
"Astoria!" Kamrynn yelled and ran past me.
I ran after her and caught her around the waist as she kicked and screamed for her friend. It was too late. The flames had already gotten Astoria and Crabbe.
A/N: I know it was a long wait, but I hope it was worth it! We're in the thick of the action now, and it took me hours to write this chapter in order to get it to where I wanted it to be. The first deaths that we see during the battle. I literally cried while writing the end of this chapter.
