Chapter 20
"What did you see?" Ron asked as all 5 of us crowded around him.
"You know who has his followers checking on the horcuxes right now, except for one," He said as Ron helped him up, "the last one, which is at Hogwarts. He knows that one is safe."
"I knew it!" said Hermione.
"Wait," Kam looked at all 3 of them. "How does he know?"
"How do I know?" Harry asked.
Astoria nodded. "Yes, how do you know what You-Know-Who is thinking?"
"Does it have something to do with your scar?" I busted out. "I mean, you were grabbing your forehead when we were on the dragon."
He nodded. "My scar is connected with Voldemort. I don't think that he meant for the connection to happen, but he does know about it."
"Astonishing," Astoria gasped. "Do you think this makes you a horcrux?"
Everyone's eyes were upon her. She did have a point; was it like there was a small piece of Voldemort was inside of him?
Harry shook his head. "No, It's just a connection."
Hermione looked worried. "I'm sure it's just a magical connection and not that a piece of Voldemort's soul is inside Harry. Besides, you can't make a human a horcrux."
Kam scoffed. "Are you sure? It seems like to me, magic can do just about anything."
"Anyway," Ron said, getting us back on track, "What does this mean? What is he thinking?"
"He'sseriously angry, and scared too, he can't understand how we knew, and now he's going to check the others are safe, the ring first. He thinks the Hogwarts one is safest, because Snape's there, because it'll beso hard not to be seen getting in, I think he'll check that one last, but he could still be there within hours," Harry explained.
"Did you see where in Hogwarts it is?" asked Ron.
"No, he was concentrating on warning Snape, he didn't think about exactly where it is,' Harry said.
"Wait, wait!" cried Hermione, as Ron caught up the horcrux and Harry pulled out the InvisibilityCloak again. "We can't just go, we haven't got a plan, we need to –"
"We need to get going," said Harry firmly.
"I agree with Hermione," I spoke up. "We need a plan, and we need to get some rest. We can 't just rush into anything with no sleep."
"Can you imagine what he's going to do once he realizesthe ring and the locket are gone? What if he moves the Hogwarts Horcrux, decides it isn't safe enough?" Harry seemed panicked.
"But how are we going to get in?" Astoria asked.
"We'll go to Hogsmeade," said Harry, "and try to work something out once we see what the protectionaround the school's like. Get under the Cloak."
I sighed. "We're all not going to fit under the cloak, and Hermione is out of shrinking potion."
"Yes," Astoria chimed it. "Courtney and I are just as big of targets as the three of you."
"Hey!" Kam whined. "What about me?"
Ron laughed. "No one really knows you, sorry."
The flapping of enormous wings echoed across the black water: the dragon had drunk its fill and riseninto the air. They paused in their preparations to watch it climb higher and higher, now black against therapidly darkening sky, until it vanished over a nearby mountain.
"Maybe you three should stay here," Hermione suggested.
Then Hermione walked forwards andtook her place between the other two.
"Oh, hell no," Kam walked up and got in her face. "We said that we were together, so we're going with you."
"Maybe it is time for us to split up," Harry agreed with Hermione. "Maybe you three should go back to The Order. We might not succeed if all six of us go to Hogwarts."
"Six eyes are better than three!" Kam shrieked.
"Uh, Kam," I cleared my throat. "Twelve eyes are better than Six."
Kam nodded. "Yeah, what she said. Point is, we need to stay together!"
"Maybe we should all go, but apparate to different places and plan to meet in the middle?" Ron suggested. "We can always figure the Hogwarts part out when it comes to it."
"Fine," Harry agreed. "We'll meet at the Hog's head."
Harry then pulled the Cloak down as far as it would go, and togetherthey turned on the spot into the crushing darkness. I turned and looked at the other two blondes. I shook my head at what had just happened.
"They just wanted to drop us," Kam said. "Maybe we should leave them hanging. Go meet up with The Order like Harry originally suggested."
I shook my head. "No. We need to go. I'm feeling that Hogwarts is the place we need to be next, so trust me guys."
Kam laughed. "You're just feeling the pull because that's where Ronald is going. Don't think we don't know about you two doing what you did on the beach last night."
"All the more reason to get this love cycle ended," Astoria said. "So, it doesn't cause you to cheat again."
I grabbed my ring and rubbed my thumb over it. "It will not happen again. I can't let it happen again; it's tearing me apart what I've done to Draco. I still knew about the connection and pull to Ron, but I still made the conscious decision to have sex with him! I'm the most horrible person."
"No, you're not," Astoria comforted me.
"I beg to differ," Kam interjected. "You're my best friend, and I still love you. Don't get me wrong, but it's horrible what you did."
"No, this is a magical pull. Courtney has absolutely no control over herself, thus meaning that this is not her fault!" Astoria countered.
I dropped my ring and wiped the tears off that were coming down. "I really don't think that this pull has to do with Ron. I felt it before he left. Speaking of leaving, we need to go now as well."
We all grabbed hands before apparating to Hogsmeade. I had imagined Zuko's joke shop before we had left, but when we took in the sight, it looked nothing like the once beloved place. It was the whole world that felt different, and not just Diagon Alley.
"Which way?" Astoria asked.
Kam and I lead the way down the alley and around the corner. We stopped dead in our tracks. I swallowed hard as we all took in the sight of the trackers in front of us.
"Astoria and the Flint girl," spat Fenrir Greyback. "This is about to be so delicious."
