Chapter 14
"It's timmmmmeeee," Kamrynn sang out as we all made our way to the front of the cottage.
I hugged my brother and Alex goodbye before following everyone out of the door. I bumped into Ron on my way out, which made me quickly move so I could sit next to Kamrynn. Hermione was standing in the middle of the kinda circle that we had made. Astoria was standing in a black dress that resembled something Bellatrix would wear. Hermione set to work onto Ron's face, morphing him into a different person. He had morphed into someone who I woudln't call handsome, which was good all around.
"You two," Hermione shrewdly said to get Kam's and mine attention. "We have a potion to take as well. I had worked on it last night with things from Marcus and Alex's stores."
She handed each of us a tiny vial with some dark colored, amber liquid inside. It looked very different from the Polyjuice potion that Astoria was about to take. I sighed and took the cork out of my vial and smelled it. It smelled like nothing was in the bottle.
"Oh, let me guess," Kam said as she took in a big whiff. "This is going to make us invisable, huh?
I shook my head. "We have a cloak for that. Besides, we would run into a heap of trouble if we were invisable since Harry and Griphook will be under it already. Too many of us invisable would just cause issues."
Hermione nodded. "Exactly. That's why we are about to take a shrinking potion."
"So, we're going to be super tiny?" Kam scoffed. "Where are we going to hide? In your bloody, beaded bag?"
She laughed. "No, we would more than likely be lost in there. We are going to be riding in one of their pockets," she answered as she gestured to Harry and Ron.
"You can ride me all day long," Ron laughed. "What?" he asked as we all looked at him like he was stupid. "The joke was just begging to be said."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed my ring again. I wanted to cry because of what happened last night, but I needed to keep my composure. No one needed to know that I was a tramp. Ron wouldn't be looked at like that, but he wasn't the one who had cheated in the first place. It was me. I should've just shoved him away and went into the house. I could not let this curse, or cycle, win.
"Earth to Courtney," Kam said, clapping her hands in front of my face "We're all going to drink on the count of three."
I nodded. "One."
"Two," Kam and Astoria chimed together.
"Three," Hermione finished the count and then finished her vial.
I tossed mine back as well. I then felt a lurch in my stomach, which caused me to drop my vial and grab my middle. I barely heard the smashing of the glass as one my one my limbs shrunk by themselves. It felt like I was being pulled in from the inside, and I did not like it. It was the opposite feeling of apparating. Before I knew it, I was the size of a thimble. I looked up at Ron and Harry, who appeared to be miles tall. Harry kneeled down and held out his hand as Kam, Hermione, and I climbed into his palm. He waited as Griphook climbed onto his back before standing up. He seemed to move to fast as he stood up. The wind and caused me to fall and be pinned. Harry then dumped us into the breast pocket of the shirt that he was wearing. All three of us held onto each other as we felt the giant vibration of him apparating us.
I heard the bustle of the business of a busy establishment as Harry walked. Kam, Herms, and I kept falling onto each other with every one of his steps. Kam laughed as her face fell into Hermione's chest. I couldn't get a footing long enough to even focus on rolling my eyes at her.
"Madame Lestrange," I heard someone murmur who sounded an awful lot like Tom, the bartender at the Leaky Cauldron. Almost every wizard and witch knows his voice.
"Tom," Astoria said, sounding a little too nice for Bellatrix.
"Too nice!" The booming voice of Harry whispering to Astoria. "You need to treat people like they're scum!"
"Okay!" She whisper-yelled back to him.
Next, we heard the tapping of bricks that would allow us into Diagon Alley. I looked down at Kam, who was sitting with her knees propped up. I took this opportunity and stood on top of her knees and peered over the top of Harry's pocket. I saw the bricks move away and showing the miraculous place that every wizard loved, Diagon Alley. However, much to everyone's surprise, the alley was quiet and there was no hustle and bustle. There were shops that were boarded up and several new shops dedicated to the dark arts had opened up. I then noticed the addition of the posters: Undesirable No. 1. Of course, it was a giant poster of Harry. I saw a few people dressed in rags huddled in doorways, but that was all I could see because Harry started walking again, causing me to fall from Kamrynn's knees.
"That hurt quite a bit," Kam whaled. "You bitch!"
"I'm sorry, Kam."
"My children!" Someone had shrieked. "Where are my children? What has he done with them? You know, you know!"
I felt like crying at how much ache and hurt was in that man's voice. I couldn't imagine having children in this war. It would have to be awhile before I even though about children, and definitely, a time of peace when it happened.
"Goes to show what you know, vermin," I heard Astoria say to the man. "You need to get out of here before I put an end to you as well."
"You-"
There was then a burst of red light and the sound of someone falling onto the ground. I had hoped that it was Astoria or Ron who had sent out that spell, and not the man who seemed to want to fight Bellatrix Lestrange. Who would even be sane enough to try and fight that crazy bitch?
We three tried to hold onto each other and get some stability as Harry walked up the steps to Gringotts bank. It was a bumpy ride, but we made it all the same. I took in a deep breath. This is when it really needed to count. Astoria had to convince these goblins that she was, in fact, Bellatrix.
"Why, Madame Lestrage!"
Harry spun around and then Griphook whispered that the name of the person or creature in front of us was named Travers. I swear that I was going to be sick if he took another spin exactly like that. Being tiny was not something that I wanted to be again.
"And what could you possibly want?" Astoria scoffed.
"He's another deatheater!" Griphook growled.
Hermione and I exchanged looks and grabbed each others hands. This was it. We were about to be found out, and Astoria didn't even get to talk to the goblins! Kam climbed up on top of us, with each of us protesting, and peeked out.
"Fuck!" she shouted.
