Chapter 12
Draco's POV
"Draco."
The way Voldemort had said my name sent chills down my spine. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. I needed to push on for Courtney's sake. If she said that I needed to stay alive so we could break the cycle, then that is exactly what I was going to do. It was literally tearing me apart. I didn't know how much longer I could keep having sex with Lila. I mean, we were going through the motions. We had discussed it and made amends with the fact that we were being forced into bed together. I tried to let myself enjoy it... Alright, I did enjoy it. Sex feels good. Lila is attractive, but every time I would picture Courtney. Her perfect, kissable lips. Her soft skin. Her beautiful, blue eyes.
"I am very pleased with you, Draco," he smiled at me as he paced in front of the table I was sitting at. "You have followed and completed every mission that I have thrown at you. It's almost as if marriage suits you. It has made you mature far beyond what you were a month ago. Tonight, we celebrate your latest of those missions."
Everyone started clapping. Aunt Bellatrix was clapping the loudest. She had even stood up out of her chair with cheering. My mother looked as though she was going to be sick. She knew the last mission I had been on. I had successfully infiltrated the Ministry of Magic. I was just going through the motions, trying to keep my promise.
We headed down to the tram, where the restrooms were that allowed entrance into the Ministry. I turned to Mitch, Micah, and Blaise. It was our first solo mission. We were there to gain information about what the Ministry's plan was to take down the Dark Lord. I grabbed the vial in my pocket, which contained polyjuice potion. I took a deep breath.
"Blaise, lock the door," I instructed. "Mitch, make sure that all the stalls are empty."
"Get out," Mitch instructed the female that had been in the stall. "Go on!"
Blaise opened the door and let her out. "Alohamorah!" he then looked at Mitch. "What the fuck was that dude? You could've asked her a little nicer."
Mitch shrugged. "I'm getting in character, mate. Bare with me."
"Focus," I waved them over. "You all have the hair that I had given you?"
They all nodded and retrieved the samples of DNA from their pockets, which were in little baggies. I screwed off the bottom of the vial and poured part of the polyjuice into the cup. I held it out to Mitch first. He threw in his hair and took a swig. I poured more for Micah and then for Blaise. I poured out the last bit for myself and added what I needed to.
"Cheers," I said before drinking the disgusting potion.
The odd, but familiar, sensation crept all over my body. I was changing into the middle-aged wizard that was in charge of the Aurors. When I looked up at my mates, I no longer recognized them. Mitch was now a small, chubby, graying wizard. Micah was now a very skinny man with a handle-bar mustache, and Blaise was now a - I couldn't help but laugh. I thought I had grabbed another man's hair for him, but I had not. He was now a very hot witch with dark hair and green eyes.
"Looking good there, Blaise," I chuckled.
"What?" he said, looking into the mirror. "What the hell did you do to me?"
We all were laughing so hard as Blaise waved his wand and made sure that his suit fit him better. It definitely clung to his shape, which was great. He had a hourglass figure with a huge, fat ass, which made us laugh even harder.
"Let's just do the mission," Blaise said, his voice not quite matching his figure. "I'm going to kill you when this is over, Draco."
He took the lead as he went into a stall and closed it behind him. We all followed suit as well. Pulling the chain after standing inside the toilet bowl. It was a particular entrance that I did not understand in the wizarding world, but I stopped questioning it.
"This way," I motioned, turning left as we got in the entrance hall.
I had memorized the blueprints beforehand. I figured it would give us the edge on things. We made our way through the maze of hallways and found the Department of Magical Defense.
"Good morning," smiled a woman with greying hair and crow's feet.
I smiled back. "Morning," I nodded. "What is going on today," I looked at the nameplate on her desk, "Janet."
She looked up. "Well, we know were You-Know-Who is," she nodded.
"Great work," I said. "Where is he?"
She didn't get to answer. There was then a paper airplane smashing into my head. I opened it to hear a voice saying that I had to meet in the Hall of Prophesies. I turned and looked at my team.
"Let's split up," I said. "We can cover more ground that way."
I got a little turned around when I went down to the hall, but I eventually made my way down. I looked around, but I didn't see anyone. I guess it wasn't a lead after all. Then, I heard some orbs clanking together. I made my way over to the where the noise was coming from and saw Helena Burke.
"What are you doing here?" we both asked at the same time.
"I'm on a mission," I replied after a few moments of us staring each other down.
Ever since she tried to use Courtney as bait, Blaise told me everything that had happened, Helena seemed to show less loyalty to our Lord. She hadn't been acting like her normal, blood thirsty self.
"Well," she stood up from her crouching position, "I'm on a mission too."
I grimaced at her. "Okay."
"Okay, I'm not on a mission," she sighed. "I have found something that you should see though. Only because it's about you."
I raised an eyebrow up at her. "What is it?"
She pointed out in front of her. The orb was titled 'Love Cycle Curse #4.' I reached out and touched the orb. I loud voice boomed inside my head:
"The curse of Cecily and Daniel. The two are soul mates, but I shall make sure they are never together. He shall always be on the wrong side, which will be the death of him. She shall marry her best friend and live a loveless life. This shall carry on forever as longs as the souls exist."
I stepped back when it was over. Is that what Courtney had found out after turning the time turner? This wasn't a prophecy...this was a curse. The person who casted this hated Daniel or Cecily to their core. She was dead right though. I was going to die. I know that it was a curse now. So, there would have to be some pretty serious magic going on in order to break this curse. I knew that I needed to talk to about this. Snape would know what to do.
"Thanks, Helena," I turned to walk away and then turned back. "Do you want to help me out? My mission is to find out what the Ministry's plans are for You-Know-Who."
She laughed. "Most of the Ministry is infiltrated already. So, your actual job is to figure out how to get to the Minister, Cornelius Fudge."
I nodded. "Right. I'm going to go to his office right now then."
"Yes, let's go," she said, taking the lead.
We made our way to the office to find it empty. So, I looked on the desk to see of there was any parchments that could led the way to him or to anything. I saw that there was a note that said send this home...so, he must not be in the Ministry at all.
Then there was green flames coming from the fireplace. I looked up to see Cornelius Fudge standing right in front of us. Helena was surprised as well, which caused her to hit her head off the shelves behind us. Things started falling around us. I used a shielding spell to block them. The knick-knacks ricocheted off the shield, and one sharp ended frame went through the chest of the Minister. I had killed him completely by accident.
"He managed to get Fudge out of the way for us," Voldemort raised up a glass to me. "This one is for you, Draco Malfoy."
I raised up my glass as well. "Thank you, my Lord."
It was tearing me up inside. Fudge would've never died if I hadn't gone down to the Hall of Prophecies and ran into Helena. I never should've asked her to come with me. Her surprise, which completely shocks me, caused the fall of the objects that fell on us. If I wouldn't have shielded us, it could've been one of us. So, I was just full-filling my promise to Courtney, right?
"This is not the only celebration," he continued. "One of our newly wedded couples have procreated at a record speed."
I gulped. I hoped it wasn't Lila that was pregnant. I was secretly hoping that it was Blaise and Pansy. No, that would not be good for him and Kamrynn. Perhaps it was Mitch or Micah with their pureblood wives? This was terrible all around. We were all of age, but none of us had the maturity to have children yet. I swear I was going to be sick.
"Congradulations," Voldemort raised his glass again, "to the happy couple, Draco and Laila. To the pureblood nation growing."
I drank what was left in my cup and then refilled it from the spread that had been on the table. I looked across the room at Lila, who had gone pale. My eyes then shot over to Mitch and Micah, one looked like they were going to punch me, the other walked out of the room.
This life just couldn't be easy, could it?
