Chapter 10
Draco
The palm of my hands became sweaty as I looked at myself in the mirror. In my dress robes, I really looked like I was going to get married. I swallowed hard because I knew that it was not marrying my soul mate. Lila was beautiful; don't get me wrong. If I had never gotten together with Courtney, I would be more than happy to shag the hell out of her, but I'm a changed man. I'm in love, in love with an angel.
All I could picture was her as I continued to look into the mirror. The nostalgia from seeing her the night before had long faded since my mother came into my room to wake me. She set out my dress robes and told me that it was nearly two in the afternoon. The wedding was at three.
"Drake."
I saw Blaise from the door in the mirror. I took a deep breath while I looked at him. His presence meant that I was time for me to leave the room. I would have to walk down those steps and into the ballroom where there would be an aisle right down the center. I'd be forced to walk down that aisle and wait at the end. I looked down at my feet. I couldn't help but feel dizzy at that moment. It was like all the air was being sucked out of my lungs.

"I'm sorry, mate," Blaise walked up and placed a hand on my shoulder, "but it's time."
I nodded and turned to face him. "Let's get this over with."
When I made it to the end of that aisle, I turned to face the door. A light hand was then placed on my shoulder, and I turned to see the Dark Lord. He smiled down at me as I looked away from him and back towards the door.
"It's refreshing to see the light of excited nervousness in the eyes of a young man that's about to be married for the first time," he whispered. "You're very lucky, Draco. I almost kept her for my own."
I looked back up at him as he smirked.
"Look, Draco. Here comes your beautiful bride," he said, looking up to the door.
I looked as well. Lila did look beautiful in her white gown as she seemed to float down the aisle. As she got closer, the more I wished that she was Courtney. I started to tear up. I couldn't help it. She wasn't Courtney. She needed to be walking down the aisle to Mitch. Not me.
"Look, how sweet," Bellatrix taunted from the front row when she saw me tearing up. "His bride really is beautiful."
Lila forced a smile when she made it down to me and the Dark Lord. I took her hands in mine and looked into her eyes. I didn't look away from the whole time because I didn't want to look into the Dark Lord's face or in any of the faces of my family. I would've crumbled right then and there.
Promise me.
I took in a deep breath. I couldn't even hear what the Dark Lord was saying as he said the incantation that would bind us together...forever. I started to panic as his wand hovered over our hands. I remembered as Snape said that the spell could be reversed. Only he knew the incantation, so he would be our savior after the war.
Promise me.
Courtney was supposed to be standing across from me. We were the ones supposed to be bonded forever. Not Lila. I didn't think that I could do it. I couldn't go through with it. I wasn't going to go through with it.
Promise me.
I wasn't going to go through with it. Lila's eyes seemed to say stop thinking it. She knew what I was thinking about it. I only knew that she was thinking the same thing as me. I wasn't going to go through with this marriage.
Promise me.
"I promise," Lila said, her eyes still saying to hold my piece.
I bit my lip. I wasn't going to go though with it. I was not. She wasn't Courtney.
Promise me.
No. I couldn't. I wasn't going to go through with it. I'm sorry, Courtney. I apologized in my head. I hope you can forgive me when I'm gone.
Promise me!
"Draco," I heard the Dark Lord say. "Answer the question."
I looked over at him then back at Lila.
Promise me!
"Do you promise, Draco? Do you promise to be Lila's husband? To always be there for her? Do you promise to never let her go?" He repeated the last bit to the incantation. "Do you promise?"
Promise me!
Promise me!
Promise me!
"I promise," I said softly.

I watched as Lila danced with her father at the reception afterwards. I had almost drank a whole bottle of firewhiskey by myself since the dinner had started. Blaise was sitting with me, and Pansy was by his side. They both understood my pain. They both stayed silent as I continued to drink. Allowing me the time to let it all sink in as I tried not to let it out.
"Draco," my mother came over to me, "why don't you take a break from drinking and come dance with me. I could love to dance with you on your wedding day."
I sighed before setting my glass down before taking her to the dancefloor. I took my mother in my arms and started swaying to the music. She placed her hand on my cheek, looking like she was about to cry. I shook my head.
"What's wrong, mum?"
"I can tell my baby is in pain," she dropped her hand from my cheek to my shoulder. "I know you're still in love with Courtney. I know that you feel like you're cheating on her with this action. The worst part is she doesn't know."
I shook my head. "She does know, mum. She decided to come to the Christmas ball after I had warned her not to come. She came in when she heard the announcement and turned right back out of there."
"Poor Courtney."
"She told me she wouldn't hold it against me."
She nodded. "She might have said that, darling, but I feel I must warn you. She might resent the fact that you have slept with another woman while you were with her whether or not it was your fault. She might feel hostile because that other woman knows you like she knows you."
I shook my head. "No one could possible know me like Courtney does. She was my beat friend before we ever thought of each other romantically. She knows the depths of my heart and soul. Lila doesn't know me from Adam. I might 'know' both of them in that way, but it will never be like it will be with Courtney."
"I understand, honey. I just thought you should know that it is a real possibility. Plus, you and Lila haven't been intimate yet. You don't know how you'll feel about her when you consummate the marriage tonight."
"I know that, mother. I just believe Courtney's and mine love is bigger than that," I kissed her on the cheek. "I love you, mum."
"Another congratulations to the happy couple," The Dark Lord spoke as Lila and I made our way to each other. "We have celebrated the union of these two, but it is now time for them to return to their chambers. It is time to consummate the marriage."
I grabbed Lila's hand and led her to the door where the Dark Lord intercepted us. He took each of our hands before showing out the door. He followed us all the way to the door of my room. He placed his hand on the door knob.
"Just so you know, Draco," he pushed the door open. "I will be testing Lila tomorrow morning to be sure that you followed through. Have fun you two."
I ran into that room and closed the door as fast as I could. I looked at Lila, who swallowed hard. Her hands traveled up her dress all the way to her strap. She slid it over her shoulder and then the other before dropping it to the ground. She was standing there completely naked. I have to admit that it was hot, but I automatically felt guilty for thinking it.
"Let's get this over with," she said before crossing the room and undressing me.
A/N: I know.. I could've written that Draco got away somehow in some miraculous stunt that saved him from the on-going torture...but that's not the story I envisioned for Draco. I don't like to think about it, but I feel like Draco had a horrible, horrible life as a death-eater. Much worse than what I'm depicting. So, I don't feel that Draco would ever escape... So, as hard as it was to write this chapter. I have so much in store for this story! I hope that it was worth the wait!
