Wandlering Trees
This is what I imagine everyone's Wanderlings to look like (of course, Sophie and Dex already have one, but I'm putting my versions of theirs in here anyway)
Fitz: Teal berries sprouted in clusters, covering the bunches of chocolate colored leaves. The branches were strong, the trunk straight, resisting the wind. Brown seedpods littered the ground, and it seemed to lean towards the tree next to it, as if it was reaching out to her.
Biana: A slim, sturdy trunk rose from the ground, housing shimmering teal petals. The chocolate leaves were pointed and flexible, unbreakable. The light color of the wood seemed to shine with its own light, much like its owner had.
Linh: Pitch black leaves sprouted from cream colored branches, round and soft to the touch. Silver petaled flowers bloomed in bunches from the tips, littering the ground with glimmering petals. It was flexible and thin, swaying in the wind as if it were dancing to a tune only it could hear.
Dex: A skinny trunk, twisting branches and curving leaves. Periwinkle berries, strawberry blonde flowers and a pale trunk, rising out of the ground to its own rhythm. It twisted and curled, much like the shop its owner had so often worked. It fanned out, littering the ground with petals, its branches touching every one if its friends.
Sophie: Brown seedpods spilled onto the ground, releasing the golden pollen hidden inside. Wavy gold leaves shone in the sun, the branches reaching out wide, as if to embrace the others and protect them. It stood, defiant and straight, against the wind.
Tam: The slim branches were covered in narrow, ink colored leaves, guarded with spikes but soft to the touch. The cream colored trunk, thin but strong. The silver berries dotting the branches, and the way it seemed to bend against the wind, refusing to bow the way it was supposed to. It leaned the side, it branches reaching out to its twin, holding her steady as she swayed.
Keefe: Ice blue flowers dotted the pale branches, the golden star-shaped leaves tickling the branches of the tree beside him. The trunk was thin and wiry, looking mischievous even without expressions. The leaves bunches up at the top, tangling in a great mass, as if trying to recreate one of the things its owner had held dear.
Wylie: A chocolate colored trunk stood strong and thick, providing support for the heavy branches that sprouted from it. It was the sturdiest of all, sapphire berries lining the wood and peeking from behind dark leaves. Its branches steadily crept towards its friends, as if continuing to warm up to them even in death.
Marella: Golden leaves and golden flowers, the petals tipped with fiery orange, as if paying tribute to her ability and her hardships. Ice blue buds and berries tipped the strong branches, surprisingly sturdy despite its small size. Some of the round leaves were narrowed, as if remembering the braids that so often frequented her hair.
A quiet space, a clearing set just for them. Charms, flowers and other farewells lay at the base of the shallow hill, reminding everybody of their sacrifice.
"Only the good die young."
