Ranking KOTLC Characters

BEFORE YOU KILL ME I SWEAR I'M DOING THIS AS FAIRLY AS POSSIBLE

Okay, so I know this is going to set a lot of people on edge, and my opinions are going to differ from a lot of people's. But please know, I am not here to offend anyone, or any characters for that matter!! Just wanted to share my thoughts with you guys, and maybe have some friendly debates about character, because you guys know I love my characters XD

Okay, so in order to do this as fairly as possible, I'm going to be splitting this into two part: one about my personal opinions and how I feel about the characters I'm ranking, and then another one on objectively, the best written characters.

This one is the opinion one, so bear with me guys (is that the right bear?)

Okay, I'm gonna be ranking 11 characters here, and these are the ones I feel are mainly in the series.

*another thing to note is that I am not talking about whether I enjoy their dialogue or whether I would hang out with them, it's how fun they are for me to read*

11. Sophie

My main reason for this is her near-complete lack of development. She got slightly braver at the end of book one, and stayed the same until Legacy. She kept getting  abilities, which made her completely overpowered (and yet she still gets beaten, which is actually worse than being overpowered), and one of which is kind of useless for the kind of work Sophie does, and has only come into use a couple of times. She's just not a great main character. Sure she has her strengths, like her determination or loyalty to her friends (when she remembers them, at least), but still, she's my least favorite to read.

10. *hides behind the couch in her react room* .....Keefe

GUYS PLEASE DON'T KILL ME I HAVE AN EXPLANATION

Keefe is a wonderful character, he really is. But he's so.....cliche. The whole "handsome broken boy who hides his pain behind humor" thing is completely overused (at least the way Shannon does it), and I've read about so many Keefes that it's just gotten boring for me. The only exceptions to this trope that I genuinely love are Leo Valdez and Will Herondale. Maybe because their humor is different than Keefe's and more my style, or maybe it's the way they handle their problems...he's just not enjoyable to me anymore. He, like everyone else, has his moments (like the elf cookies, or various lines from the early books), but something about him just doesn't work for me. *please don't kill me*

9. Maruca

I don't have anything in particular to say about her. She seems cool, but we barely see her, so....

8. Linh

Now let me lead this by saying everyone above Mr. Forkle, I love. This isn't so much of a bad score as "I just love other characters a bit more". Don't get me wrong, Linh is great, especially her interactions with Tam!! But we just don't see enough of her for me to love her as much as I could. I in no way dislike Linh, she's wonderful.

7. Wylie

I also really like Wylie!! We're starting to get to know him a bit more as of Legacy, and I don't remember enough about him specifically and why I love him (which sounds kinda bad I know), but I do know that he seems really caring and kind of awkward, which is always a great combination XD, and he just gave me general cinnamon roll vibes. The only reason he's not higher is because we don't really see him a lot, sadly.

6. Stina

Guys, this was so hard!! I love Stina a LOT, SHE'S SO GREAT!! She's so blunt, and kind of exactly the kind of person to kick some sense into Sophie. I just love her, she's awesome

5. Dex

I love Dex so much, he's so sweet and innocent and he deserves so much better than what he gets. HE DESERVES BETTER SHANNON, ALL THE WORK HE DOES FOR SOPHIE SND CREW AND BEING LEFT BEHIND (but he's starting to act like Keefe inLegacy, which kinda ticked me off....not cuz I don't like Keefe but because Dex isn't Keefe, he's Dex)

4. Fitz

It was a really hard battle between Fitz and Marella for third, and here's why.

I really do love Fitz, because with his anger issues, he seems really real. Not cliche, I've never met a character like Fitz. And maybe he does disappoint me sometimes and blame Sophie or someone else for stuff that's not their fault, but the best part about him is that he's getting better. He gets character development, and he does it completely on his own, since everyone else (except Keefe, who tries to calm him down) seems content to condemn him for his problems without trying to help him and make him better. The only reason he's fourth is because of the way Sophie thinks about him. I'd much rather read a Fitz book (especially after Legacy, since he's not actively flirting with Sophie anymore) than read about him through Sophie. All she talks about are his looks, and he's SO much more than that!!

I know a lot of people don't like Fitz, either because of his anger issues or because they ship Sokeefe or both, or some other reason (which is fine), I just really feel like he deserves love for all the stuff he's gone through. And the way he was in the first book was just beautiful.

3. Marella

She's an amazing character, snarky and proud and brave and "touch her and she'll chop off your bangs". Every time her name is mentioned, I get excited, her demeanor is so fun and agh! I love it so much

2. Biana

Biana is SUCH a strong character. She's powerful, not afraid of a fight but doesn't actively look for one, she cares for her friends and family SO MUCH (except Alvar, but we don't talk about him). She's grounded and not afraid to stand up for herself, while still being extremely feminine, which is amazing, because it's hard to find kick-butt feminine characters who aren't....I don't want to say the word, but let's just say a lot of skin showing and super flirtatious....

Honorable mention: Jensi

Love Jensi, he's super energetic and super sweet, and he deserves the world

1. Tam

.....honestly if you didn't expect this, you must be new XD

And if you are, welcome! I love Tam.

Guys, I've made entire rants about why I love him so much, but I'll shorten it down to how real his character feels. He feels like you could bump into him on the street and it would seem totally normal. He has lines that seem like someone real said them:

"Wait, there's a Marella and a Maruca? Yeah, I'm never keeping that straight."

"I'm only intense when I'm right!"

"Getting handsy with my sister, Dizznee?" *starts laughing* "Only kidding, dude."

I just love his dialogue, I love how protective he is, and I love how he doesn't really dwell on his family issues. Sure, maybe he gets a little angsty and cliche at times, especially when he first meets Sophie, but once you get to know him, he manages to have a great dynamic with everyone he meets. And I'll leave it at that, since most of you have already heard all this before XD

Aaaaaaaaaand, that's everyone. If you want to know anyone else, comment and I'll tell you where I'd put them. Again, I'll make another chapter on the actual writing of the character, but there won't be a whole lot of changes....but there will be a few, so stick around!

Sorry if I offended anyone, these are completely my own opinions, and I don't judge anyone for who they may or may not like (unless you're being completely and absurdly unfair....then I might judge you a little, but I won't dislike you! XD)

HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE!!!
