React to The Dollar Tree (and other stuff!)

So, my mom sent me and my siblings to the Dollar Tree to get candy for a field trip, and she told us the story of how when she took her friend to the dollar tree, he kept asking, "How much does this cost?" over and over and over again just to annoy her.  I instantly thought of Keefe doing that...   😝😝😝😝😝😝😝

And yes, I know the Dollar Tree isn't elvin at all, but... I thought it would be funny!

"Have fun guys!" Della said before Keefe, Dex, Biana, Fitz, and Sophie light-leaped away.  Sophie felt the familiar warm feathery feeling, and her and her friends appeared at The Dollar Tree.

Ever since Dex found Sophie's old rubix cube, and demanded where she got it, Sophie said how her human mom bought it for her at as store called the Dollar Tree.

Sophie spent the entire week playing with it after her mom bought it, and even figured out how to solve it intuitively.  After mastering it, her mom bought her a speed cube, and the cheap version from The Dollar Tree had been quickly forgotten.

Her best time had been 8.73 seconds, and she won a lot of competitions for it before she became bored, and gave it up.  After finding it, Dex had been mesmerized by the simplicity of it, and was even creating one on his own with nine sides, and in a star shape.  He figured out how to solve it quickly, but still couldn't beat Sophie's record.  His best time was 15 seconds.

"Sophie?  Is this the store?"  Dex asked his eyes twinkling with excitement, bringing Sophie back to the present.

Sophie nodded.  "Yep.  Don't get your hopes up, though.  Its nothing like the stores in Atlantis."

"Eh!  Who cares?  We're in a Forbidden City, and shopping with humans!  Like, right there!"  Keefe shouted, pointing at a group of teenage girls.  They giggled as they caught him waving.

Sophie sighed.  Although they had changed to human clothing, they still looked a bit...elvin.

Sophie wore the "I don't trip.  I do random gravity checks." shirt Biana found, Dex wore his Mickey Mouse Disneyland shirt, Keefe wore his signature Batman shirt, Fitz wore a gray Nike shirt, and Biana had grudgingly wore her unicorn shirt that Sophie dared her to wear.

"Ugh.  I hate this shirt!"  Biana complained.  She hugged her arms close around her to cover the unicorn.

"Yeah, well too bad!"  Keefe said, smacking her arms away.  Biana yelped.

"Will you two please be quiet?  Remember, we're supposed to not draw attention to ourselves!" Fitz whisper-shouted.

"Fine, Wonderboy."  Keefe grumbled.

"Oh, just follow me."  Sophie said, giving up.

The group followed her across the crosswalk to the entrance of the building.  As they walked closer the automatic doors slid open.  Dex, Biana, Keefe, and Fitz all simultaneously screamed, causing everyone in the story to look at them.

"What is that?" Dex whispered.  "Magic?"

"Yeah, Sophie.  You can't be using your telepath skills like that.  You'll draw attention towards us."  Fitz grumbled.  Biana whimpered.  Sophie could tell she was still freaked out about the door.

"Its an automatic door, guys.  There are special sensors to detect weight and heat below this mat, and when people step on, the doors open."  Sophie said, trying not to laugh.  It was so funny how such simple things could be so shocking.

As soon as they entered, Sophie and Fitz were swarmed by all of the thoughts.  Sophie felt herself unconsciously grabbing her head, and looked up to see Fitz doing the same.

Fitz = BoldItalics      Sophie = Italics

Forgot how bad it was.  Fitz said telepathically.

Yeah.  Sophie agreed.  Then Dex's voice brought them back to the conversation.

"...the door's  quite simple, really.  The motion or optical sensor is connected to an electronic drive train which controls the opening and closing mechanism.  This mechanism is attached to the panels of the automatic door through a cog wheel or an auxiliary drive.  The auxiliary drive or cog wheel is connected by rubber belts that-"

"C'mon Dex!  Stop thinking about how things work for once!  Here's a more important thing to worry about.  Sophie, what's that?"  Keefe said, pointing to the colorful racks of candy.  Sophie sighed.  This is going to be hard.  She thought.

"Um, I'll grab a cart.  I guess you guys can look around."  Sophie said, unsure of what to do now.

Only Keefe moved... And he ran straight towards the candy aisle.  The others quickly followed, Sophie running with the cart.

"What is all this wonderful goodness?"  He asked, staring in awe at all the colorful packages.

"Its candy.  Stuff that's packed full of sugar and unhealthiness.  You probably won't-"

"Sugar?  What's sugar?"  Keefe interrupted, his eyes shining with excitement.

"It's an unhealthy substance that's really really really sweet."  Sophie explained, trying to keep it simple.

"Like in mallowmelt?"

"Uh...Sure."  Sophie said, still not really sure what mallowmelt was actually made of.

"Then, I want to try it all!"  Keefe yelled, before scooping up armfuls of candy and putting it in the cart.

"No!" Sophie yelled.  She started taking things out of the cart and dumped them on back on the shelves.

"Sophie!  Stop!  Sophie!  This is my life!  My sweet babies!"  Keefe said, miming fake tears as he started throwing everything back in.

"You don't have a life, Keefe."  Dex yelled.  "So stop!"

"Make me!"  Keefe said, his voice full of annoyance.

"Guys, shut up!"  Biana cried.

Keefe, Biana, and Dex started arguing, and people stopped and stared.  Sophie sat down and put her head in her lap.  She looked up, to see an employee walking towards them.

Sophie... Fitz said telepathically.  What do we do?

I don't know.  Sophie admitted.  I'll talk to her.

She stood up just as the employee walked over.

"Please, stop yelling.  Other customers and employees don't appreciate the noise.  This is your warning.  If I have to come back, you're all going to have to leave."  She said, authoritatively.

Sophie looked at her friends.  Dex and Biana shrunk in shame, but Keefe had a weird glint in his eyes.  Like he was planning something... oh God.  Sophie thought. This is not going to turn out well.

"Excuse me, how much does this cost?" Keefe asked, thrusting a box of sour airhead rope towards the employee.

"Everything in this store is one-dollar.  That's why it's called The Dollar Tree, you'know?"

"I think so.  So how much does this cost?  Two dollars?"  Keefe said, handing her a bag of Hubba Bubba gum.

"No.  It costs one dollar.  Like everything else in the entire store."  She answered, annoyed..  "Now, please excuse me.  I see a customer who needs help."  She started walking away.

"No!  Wait!  I have one more question."  Keefe shouted, smiling innocently.  She stopped, and slowly turned around.

"Keefe..."  Fitz hissed.  Keefe ignored him, and smiled larger.

"What?"  She said, gritting her teeth.  "I don't have time for this."

"How much does all this cost?" He then started picking up random containers and throwing them at her.

"Keefe!  Stop!"  Sophie shouted, but it was no use.  Other customers started screaming, and someone yelled, "Fight!"  A war began, and other people joined in, throwing package after package of candy at one-another.

Keefe laughed maniacally.  Biana and Dex sat down, completely overwhelmed.  Fitz was trying in vain to put everything back on the shelves, but as soon as he would put something back, someone would pull it back off and throw it at someone.

It was chaos.  When one shelf was bare, everyone moved onto the next.  Employees tried to keep control, but there was no use.  Nobody was listening, only caring about throwing candy.  When there was no more candy left, other objects started to be used, and Sophie found herself dodging shampoo bottles, sunglasses, ice cream cartons, pillows, blankets, water bottles, and tons of other items.

Sophie couldn't see Keefe or any of her friends, but she heard the crowd's  thoughts.  An intense headache flared, forcing Sophie to shut her eyes and clutch her head painfully.

Fitz?  Where are you?

Near the frozen section.  I'm with Dex.  Biana's somewhere trying to stop Keefe.  She thinks she can stop him.

Hold on.  I'm coming.  Sophie pushed herself to her feet and walked over to the frozen section, dodging flying objects the whole way.

I see you.  Fitz said.

I see you too.  And Dex.  Sophie replied.

Oh!  There's Keefe!  He's right next to the- Sophie!  Watch out!  Fitz mentally screamed.

Watch out for wha-           Was all Sophie could say before something slammed into her.  Sophie fell to the ground, the person landing on top of her.

"What the heck?"  Sophie mumbled, unable to move.

"Oh!  Sophie!"  Biana cried.  "I've been looking for you!  C'mon!  Grab Keefe.  One of the employees threatened to call the police, so we have to leave, now!"  She ran off towards Fitz and Dex, leaving Sophie alone.

"Keefe!  Keefe!" Sophie yelled.  She ran towards the crowd, groaning as all their thoughts entered her head.  She found Keefe in the center, both is hands full of packages, and weaving through all the people.  Their eyes met, and Sophie telepathically gave him instructions:

Okay.  We need to leave now.  It has to be quick and fast so we can avoid trouble.  Biana, Fitz, and Dex are waiting for us.  Let's go.

Keefe nodded, and started weaving out of the throng of people.  He caught up with Sophie, and they both ran to the front door, but stopped.  Police cars were pulling up.

Fitz?  Where are you?  We can't leave out the front.  Police are coming.

We're on the roof.  There's a stairwell in the back near the bathrooms.  Hurry!

"They're on roof.  The stairway near the bathrooms is how we get there."  Sophie said, and her and Keefe ran.

"Stop!  By order of the police!"  came a voice behind them.

Ignore them!  Keep running, I'll catch up!  Tell Fitz!   Sophie told Keefe telepathically.  He nodded, before sprinting away.

Sophie slowly turned around to face a middle-aged police man.  He was tall and mean-looking.

"Stop right there kid.  What are you doing, vandalizing a store like this?"  He asked.

Sophie gulped.  "It wasn't me, sir.  I promise.  I was just shopping with my friends."

The man snorted.  "They must be imaginary then.  And who shops at Dollah Tree?  You kids always go to fancy places like malls."

Sophie instantly thought of Mr. Forkle when he said "You kids", and felt a pang of guilt.  She could of been there.  It was all her fault.  She didn't deserv-

"You okay kid?  You look about to pass out."  The police man said, concern flickering across his eyes, before quickly being replaced by anger again.  "Follow me, and don't try anything funny.  I'm taking you to the station so we can call your parents."  He stuck his hand out in the "after you" gesture.

Sophie?  Came Fitz's voice telepathically.  Anytime now.

Almost done.  Give me a minute.  If I'm not there, leap back without me.

"C'mon, kid.  I don't have all day."  came the man's voice again.

Sophie took a deep breath, and gathered all her courage before saying, "I have to go to the bathroom."

The man snorted again.  "Too bad.  You can do it when we get to the station."

"Now.  Or I'm not going."

He sighed.  "You're going whether yah want to or not."

"No."  Sophie said, and ran towards the bathrooms.

"Come back here, yah little rat!"  He cried, and chased her.  Sophie ignored him, and kept running to the bathrooms.  She spotted the stairs, and ran up them, wincing as her headache flared up again.

"Sophie!  C'mon!"  Fitz cried, and started fumbling for his crystal.

"We don't have time, let's teleport.  Grab my hand."  Sophie said, grabbing Fitz and Dex's hands.  Keefe and Biana quickly followed suit.

"3...2...1...  JUMP!"  Sophie cried, and they all jumped off the building just as the police man got to the top of the stairs.

"Are you crazy kids?  Do you want to kill yourselv-"  He started to say, but they had disappeared.

-------------------------BREAKING NEWS-------------------------

(in human world)

"Earlier today, a store called The Dollar Tree made the news about a group of five teenage kids starting a riot.  Some customers in the store even participated in the riot, and started throwing various objects at one another, trashing the entire inside of the store.  Employees were powerless to stop it, and it all seemed to be led by one boy who looked about fourteen or so.  Police were called on the scene to stop the vandalists, but too late.  The four kids were last seen jumping off the roof before they mysteriously disappeared, in front of Sir William Smith.  William was interviewed, and said that "The kids all joined hands before a blond-haired girl shouted, 'one, two three, jump!' and they all jumped off the roof.  I thought they wanted to hurt themselves or something, but when I got to the edge, now one was there.  It scared me, I do say."  That was William Smith, one of the policemen on duty and at the scene earlier today.

My name is Charlotte Webber, and thanks for tuning in on today's news.  See you next time on KO tlc!"

Sorry, this is REALLY long.  I know it gets kind of ridiculous, boring, and not-funny towards like the bottom half, but it is 11:12 p.m, and I have to go to bed.

So,

Bye!  Thanks for reading my story!  😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
