Easter

Keefe's POV

Sophie had brought up this holiday called Easter. It's where an over sized bunny runs around and puts eggs everywhere that are filled with candy. I immediately fell in love with the furry dude. I leapt to Everglen after lots of unfriendly remarks from my parents. I arrived and strolled over to the gates. Fitz greeted me and let me only to see a flash of light behind me. The most beautiful elf I have ever seen appeared. She had long blond hair and a tunic on. She never liked wearing dresses so she wore boys clothes. The best thing about her was her eyes. Brown with flecks of gold. Me and Fitzy both waved and Sophie ran over to me. She was carrying something that looked like baskets. She handed me a ice blue one and Fitz a teal. She had brown one that had golden stars. She also was carrying a pink one and two pale blue ones. She also had a periwinkle blue one.

"You thought of everything Foster, didn't you?" I asked, setting my arm on her shoulder. She smiled and we all walked inside. She gave Dex and Biana there baskets, the periwinkle and the pink ones.

"This is going to be awesome!" Biana exclaimed, looking at her basket in amazement. Sophie smiled and I wanted to kiss her so bad. But I remembered our relationship was a secret until she broke it off with Fitz. Fitz who was standing right next to Sophie, twining their fingers. I hated seeing it and I could feel Sophie's confusion of what to do. She didn't think it was cheating unless she let it run to long. I hadn't exactly agreed in the beginning but i could tell her feelings for him were fading and understood how she hadn't wanted to break it with him on the day where you cherish your love ones the most.

"Hey Fitz? I need to tell you something," Sophie said to the teal eyed boy. He looked over to her and he smiled, nodding in agreement.

"I need to tell you something, too," he told her. I could feel Sophie's nervousness, even around the corner. But, suddenly, there was a large intake of breath.

Sophie's POV

This was going to be hard. The heart break in his eyes when I tell him. Fitz lead me over to an empty hallway so our friends wouldn't have to listen. And I am glad he did so. I didn't need to see Fitz's and Biana face when I broke it off with him.

"Fitz, listen," I said as he twined our fingers and held them up and in between us. We were in the middle of the hallway. Fitz leaned in and softly kissed my lips.

"I understand," he whispered into my ear as he pulled away. "I know you have feelings for Keefe," he murmured, his lips still inches away from mine. I looked into his teal eyes and didn't find one trace of hurt. "I have feelings for someone else, too," he said, pushing his lips to mine once more before pulling away. I felt my eyes get a bit glassy, but it wasn't from his rejection to me. It was from the way he had handled my rejection.

"It's Linh, isn't it," I murmured. He smiled and nodded. I stroked my thumb over his palm, not looking into his eyes. "I also understand. But, can we still be friends, please Fitz? I'll do anything to have your friendship," I pleaded, finally meeting his gaze. He smiled and nodded.

"This changes nothing in our friendship, Sophie. I love you so much. Just not in that way." I smiled and nodded, wrapping my arms around his torso. His hand came up and stroked the back of my head. I pulled away and smiled.

"Well, it's time for egg hunting now isn't it?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips. He grinned and waved for me to follow him out of the hallway. I walked out to Keefe, wrapping my arms around his neck and pecking his lips.

"Looks like things went well?" He asked, his eyebrow raised. I smiled and nodded. Keefe peered behind him and smiled when he saw Fitz nervously fiddling with his fingers as he was talking to Linh. Linh's face was red as Fitz rambled compliments to her.

"Alright everyone!" I announced, Keefe untangling his arms from my waist. Everyone turned their attention back over to me. "The parents will be hiding an egg that is the color of your eyes exactly and you will then have to find them. They will be scattered around Everglen and have tasty treats inside!" I told them all. "Each person has five eggs, so good luck! Parents start hiding!" Alden, Della, Edaline, Grady, Kesler, Juliane, and even Lord Cassius set out to hide the eggs.

"I don't think it's fair that my dad gets to hide my eggs. it's either he'll hide them impossibly well or he'll hide them terribly," Keefe muttered, sitting on the couch next to me. I smiled and booped his nose, his eyes widening and a blush blossoming on his face.

"No complaining, this is supposed to be fun," I told him. He goofly smiled and laid his head on my lap. I smiled and ran my hands through his golden locks.

"Don't mess The Hair up that much Foster, it took forever to get it right this morning," he told me. I giggled and ran my fingers through the soft silk.

A few minutes later, the parents were done hiding and the kids ran out of the house. All the eggs were outside and that was a tone of woods to go through. Everglen was huge and there was no way they were going to finish finding all their eggs in one day.

"Who wants to do a race?" Biana asked as they all excited the house. Everyone smirked and they all ran off, furiously looking for their colored eggs. I ran down to the hills, thinking of where Grady would have hidden mine. He probably had tried to steer clear of Lord Cassius's eggs because he hates Keefe.

"If I were an egg," I said to myself, walking around the woods, looking behind every tree I passed. "Where would I hide?" There, I thought, seeing a brown looking sphere behind one of the trees. I put it in my basket and smiled to myself, four more to go.

After a bit more looking around, I finally found three more for my eggs. Grady and Edaline had been better at hiding eggs than I thought. I had seen Keefe running around, his face serious with concentration as he looked in every nook and cranny around. I smiled and giggled, running over to the house to look around that area again. Biana ran past me and I could see she also had four eggs in her basket.

"Hey Keefe!" I hissed as he ran by. He turned to me and smiled, running over. I waved him close to me. "Will you help me find my last egg? I'll split the prize with you," I told him. He thought about it for a second and it got so quiet I was scared he hadn't heard me.

"Fine, but I was two thirds," he said. I growled and gritted my teeth before holding out a hand to seal the deal. But instead of shaking my hand, he leaned forward and pecked my lips.

"Agreed," I muttered as he pulled away and ran off. I ran in the opposite direction so we could cover more ground, faster. There it is! I found teh last egg! It was in the bushes on the other side of the yard! I ran over to it and placed it in my bag.

"I win!" I shouted. Keefe came running out of the woods, panting. Biana and Tam also caem running out, smiling. they had also found their last eggs at the last second. Dex came out of the woods a few minutes later, holding his egg in his hand.

"Where are Linh and Fitz?" Keefe asked, putting his last egg in his basket and walking over to me. He hooked his arm through mine. "Do I still get half the prize?" He whispered in my ear. I smiled and shrugged.

"We'll see," I told him. Tam and Biana started looking through the woods and Dex went inside to see if he could find the couple.

"Hey Alden? Have you seen Linh and Fitz?" I eventually asked when it got dark outside. Alden smiled warmly and pointed over to the couch. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion, walking over to the couch, Keefe's arm still hooked through mine. I smiled when I saw them both sleeping on the couch. Linh was sitting right next to Fitz, her head on his shoulder. Fitz's arm was wrapped around her waist, his head set on her head.

"They really are adorable," I told Keefe, laying my head on his shoulder. He smiled and rubbed the face of my hand with his thumb.

His head turned to me as he responded, "yes you really are."
