Chapter Forty Eight

Glimmer returned to her cell, near Keefe's. The bands on her wrists glowed and blocked ehr from speaking to him, almost like she had something caught in her throat. Glimmer collapsed onto her cot looking at the ceiling. She wrapped her arms around her torso and closed her eye's.

Minutes flew by like seconds and soon Glimmer was awake again with a crick in her neck. She looked at the mirror by her cot. The mirror was totally repaired as though nothing had happened. Glimmer stared down at her chest. The bandages wrapped around it under her tunic had dwindled to none, leaving a scar that ached when she touched it. It followed her everywhere with a sense of despair. Glimmer stood up. She walked to the mirror and places her hand on it. The thin scar snaked up her cheek.

Before Glimmer could move, the sound of rushing water burst through the floor. Glimmer was flung up onto the ceiling and fell down, through the large cracks in her cell floor. She fell with a whack to the ground. Her eye's opened wide as the wind was nocked out of her and then closed. She heard voices. Closer and closer. She sunk deeper away and away.
