ONE

"Jamie Biana Foster!" Her mother's angry voice cut through her thoughts, "I thought you were supposed to be packing! Not doodling in your book!" Her mom was right, she was supposed to be packing, but she just couldn't leave the perfect chance to do some drawings of what her dream San Diego house would be. So far all she had was the shape and the windows, but she knew it would look cool if she was able to finish it.

"Jamie!" her mother practically screamed, "Put that book down right now, and start packing, or I'll put all of this trash where it belongs!"

"Mom, no!" Jamie yelled as her mother picked up her favourite stuffed animal, Bella the Blue Turtle, and held it over the garbage can, "I'll start packing, I swear!" Her mother set the stuffed animal down and sighed.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, it's just that, it's been a rough day." her voice started to crack, "The land-lord threatening to wreck the house before we're packed and gone, and the movers are changing their fee, and..." her mother started crying, "I'm sorry," she sobbed, "Y-you don't deserve th-this."

Ever since her father had been fired from his job, both her parents had been up all night trying to pack, and prepare for the movers. It didn't help that the owner of their rental house was a terrible old woman who was always threatening them, and that the wrecking crew, who would come to remove the house were giving them an unreasonably small amount of time to move out. There had been a lot of yelling in their house lately, and this was making Jamie stressed. She was pretty sure that her family would never be the same after this.

Her father entered the room interrupted her thoughts. "What's up guys? You should really get back to packing." her father's reaction to this whole affair was devoid of emotion. Well, who wouldn't be shocked if you had a great boss, then the next day he passed away from a heart attack, and the first thing new boss did was fire you? Her father was always sighing and staring silently. Jamie felt like she would prefer if he would have angry outbursts like her mother, than just be blank. This whole losing-job-and-having-to-move thing really stunk.

"Yep, we probably should," her mother sighed, shaking Jamie out of her thoughts. With that, her mom left the room, followed by her dad. Jamie sighed again, and began to pack. She mindlessly placed things in boxes, until she came across a framed photo, the one that had been keeping her steady during this stressful time. It was a picture of her and her family, she was just little, three maybe, smiling atop her father's shoulders. Her mother was laughing, and her father looked like he had just won the lottery. This picture with all of their smiling faces ignited a little fire inside her heart. This was her family, as a happy whole, before stress tore them apart.

She put the picture in a box, and continued packing. When her boxes were full, she packed her overnight bag, and headed downstairs. Her parents were fighting... again. When they saw her they both sat down and her mom said, "Tell her what happened Felix."

"The land-lord has officially kicked us out, so we're leaving for San Diego tomorrow," her father told her in his unnaturally calm voice.

I really, really hope everyone who is reading this enjoys it. I have put a lot of time and effort into this, so please tell me how I can improve to make it better. And, if you like this story, please follow me, hopefully other books by me will come out soon. Also, I will try to make the chapters longer, I usually do my chapters one page long (that is, on a computer.)
