FOUR

Sorry to cut short the moment of magic, but we are going back to reality now.

"I'm fine Mom, I just got a bit dizzy. I think it's from sitting for so long," she said shakily. Her brain was still trying to process what had happened.

"You looked like you were about to pass out," her mother told her worriedly.

   "I'm fine now," she said.

They got back in the car and had their lunch on the road. One time, Jamie glanced out the window, and thought she caught sight of a hooded figure driving in the lane beside them, but when she looked again, they were gone, and was replaced by a rather average looking man. She decided that she had been hallucinating.

With nothing to do, Jamie got out her sketch book, and flipped to the page with her dream San Diego house on it. Her drawing was kind of spoiled now that she knew that they were only living in a small town house, so she flipped to a clean page and started drawing. She drew throughout the whole car ride, stopping every once in awhile to chew on her pencil and think. She was pretty sure this would be the best picture she would ever draw.

By the time they arrived in Sacramento County, where they would stay the night, it was really late, and Jamie could barely keep her eyes open. They found their room, and once they were settled in, her mother asked, "What do you think of California from what you've seen so far, Jamie?"

"It seems really crowded, and busy, but its nice. And there's no snow!" Jamie had been amazed when her parents had told her that it very rarely snowed in San Diego, and a few other parts of California. Jamie hated it when it snowed and she had to shovel their driveway. Well, not their driveway any more. She pushed the sad thought away, and told her mom that she wanted to go to sleep.

As she began to drift off, she heard her parent's hushed voices, coming from across the room. She strained to hear them.

"I really don't know, Felix." Her mother sounded stressed. "It wasn't me, and that's all I know."

"Abby, really, how could a random ninety-five thousand dollars appear in our bank account? Money doesn't just appear, and the bank even said there was no way they could track the transaction. How is this possible?" he laughed hysterically and her mother shushed him.

"Okay, so you didn't do it, and I didn't do it... hmm, maybe the leprechaun did it!"

"Felix!" her mother scolded, raising her voice loud enough so Jamie didn't have to even try to listen anymore.

"I don't know Abby, I really don't. And I'm thinking maybe we should just go on living our lives ninety-five dollars richer. I mean, who would go to the trouble to put money in a random account, and make sure they couldn't be tracked, if they wanted the money back? Be serious." he father demanded.

"I still would feel guilty," her mother said, avoiding his question, "and it's not a good feeling. Maybe we should ask Jamie what she thinks." her mother suggested.

"I just really don't want to worry her, you know she doesn't deserve any more stress," her mother frowned at him.

   "No other reasons?" she asked.

"Okay, to be honest, I don't want her to think that we stole it or something..." he trailed off.

He continued, but Jamie didn't hear, she had was fast asleep.

I kind of cheated on this chapter! It's full of dialog, so it seems long, but it's actually pretty short!
