Your Father Will Hear About This!
"You ready for this (Y/N/N)? This isn't going to be an easy trial!" Adrian whispered as you fumbled with the skirt of you dress. You nodded, still trying to smooth out the wrinkles in your outfit. Adrian glanced over at you as you made your way down the dim corridor. He was smirking at you.
"I hope so! I really hope so! We've prepared almost a thousand times and I was up all night studying our notes! I don't know how we can be any less ready," you sighed. Adrian nodded but sent a smirk in your direction. You wrinkled your nose in confusion as he continued to stare at you, strangely.
"You mean you didn't spend the night cuddling with your baby. He didn't try to convince you to get any sleep? How irresponsible of him!" Adrian teased as you shoved him into the nearest wall. He laughed as you neared the end of the hallway.
"Okay, we turn right here, then go straight until we reach the end of the hall and that's where we should find the court room. I still can't believe that Dumbledore let us out of school to do this! Not that I'm complaining, I'm just surprised," you commented.
"Well Hagrid is a friend of Dumbledore's and if I'm not mistaken, Lucius Malfoy tried to get him fired last year. You can't blame the man for wanting a little bit of revenge now can you?" Adrian asked as you turned down the another corridor.
"True, I suppose that makes a lot of sense if you really think about it. And I meant to ask you what that was?" You gestured to the large packet in Adrian's hands. You were the one who had all of the notes for the trial in your bag. Adrian looked down at the papers and rolled his eyes in pure annoyance as he sighed heavily.
"It's a set of instructions and safety precautions that were given to me before we left so that I would know what to do in case of an emergency," he groaned. You peered at the stack of parchment in his hands. It was almost as thick as one of your textbooks.
"Dumbledore gave them to you? Did he really think that we needed to read an entire book of instructions before we went to the Ministry?" You asked, skeptically.
"No! Dumbledore didn't give me anything! These instructions are from your boyfriend! He gave me fifteen page packet of every possible scenario and what to do in those cases," Adrian shuddered as he waved the parchment in the air. You sighed. Cedric promised he would do his best to keep his overprotective instinct under control.
"You had to know that was coming! You've met him and you know how he is! But I love him so I'm used to it by now! Besides I feel safer knowing that he's prepared and that he's watching over me," You replied as you pulled open the door to the court room.
You started at hundreds of unsmiling faces as you slipped into the court room. Standing in the middle of the room was Hagrid, red faced and crying. He gave you and Adrian a weak smile as you sipped inside. But the most unhappy person of all had to Lucius Malfoy. You bit your lip nervously but inhaled sharply. It was time to win this case.
-Time Skip-
"You can't prove that! You have no proof that my son was faking his injury! Please Ms. Middlebrook! Show me your evidence!" Lucius Malfoy spat as the council watched the two of you go back and forth suspiciously. You couldn't get a single word in, he kept interrupting!
"That's what I've been trying to do Mr. Malfoy! Now, if you'd stop interrupting me and let me finish a full sentence I will give you my evidence! And then I'll do you one better! I'll prove you wrong and we will win this case!" You shot back hotly.
"Then let's get on with it! I have work to do and this little trial you're claiming you're going to win is a waste of time! Now please, present your evidence!"
"First, I present to you these photographs provided to me by Colin Creevey! If you look closely you can obviously see images of Draco Malfoy using his injured arm to play joked on innocent first years! This is solid evidence proving that Draco Malfoy was in fact faking his injury and was not severely wounded by the Hippogriff Buckbeak! Not to mention the many witness reports I have collected by people who have seen Draco Malfoy use his injured arm perfectly while continuing to claim that he was hurt beyond repair! So I ask you to think about this! Are you really going to side with a man you are afraid of even against all the undeniable evidence I've given you? Are you really going to execute an innocent animal for something it didn't do?" You stated factually as the committee started at you in disbelief.
Lucius sneered as he strutted forward. His cold dead eyes were trained on you as he stood in front of the committee.
"Are you seriously going to listen to this child? She doesn't know what she's talking about! These pictures were taken by a 2nd year and they're not clear! And she could've told her friends to accuse my son of faking! You can't trust her at all!" Lucius Malfoy growled.
"Aright! Order! Order! After listening to both arguments we have hereby decided on a ruling verdict! We find the defendant, Buckbeak the Hippogriff guilty! He is to be executed as soon as possible!" The court judge announced fearfully. Your anger boiled as you jumped to your feet in rage.
"Are you kidding me! You're going to believe this douche bag! He's a lying, untrustworthy, git! How can you trust such a low life! Don't you see that-" Adrian slapped a hand over your mouth and dragged you into the hall. He grabbed you hand and began running towards the portkey.
"You shouldn't have said any of that! Do you know how mad he's going to be! Think about what you've done! Oh My God!You're father will hear about this!"
