CEDRIC!
"(Y/N)! You've got to calm down. If you're nervous, he'll be nervous. Are you trying to get him to lose his shit? Because if you are, keep acting like that, and, presto, you've succeeded."
"Cut the crap, Higgs! I can't help it! He was charred by a fire breathing dragon, during the first task. I almost drowned during the second! And god only knows what's going to happen during the third! Who's life is going to be put in danger this time?"
"Well, it won't be yours, that's for sure," a deep voice whispered as a pair of arms wrapped around your waist, lovingly. You leaned into your Cedric, savoring his touch.
"You weren't supposed to hear that. Any of that. I'm sorry," You whispered, as he caressed your cheek, gently. You could hear his smile as he kissed your ear softly.
"It's quite alright, baby girl. I have faith. And I will not let anything happen to you. I promise you, I won't. I promise, (Y/N)!" Cedric replied softly as he continued to kiss your ear. You sighed, sadly and leaned more heavily into your fiancé.
"Yes, but I can't guarantee you your safety. And if anything happens to you, I will never forgive myself! I can't lose you, Ced!" You exclaimed as you spun around and buried your head into his chest, crying. He stroked your hair lovingly, holding you to him.
"Nothing's going to happen to me. And you sure as hell, won't lose me. Forever and always, (Y/N). Forever and always. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay," He whispered reassuringly as he tilted your chin up and planted a soft kiss on your delicate lips.
"Alright! Alright! We don't need to watch you two make out all night! Let's get this show on the road! Hurry up, Pretty-Boy, or you're going to miss your final task," Adrian shouted as he grabbed Cedric's arm and began to drag him away from you.
Rolling your eyes, you followed quickly, reaching to grasp your fiancé's hand as he was dragged in the opposite direction. Cedric pulled you to him as you made your way down to one of the school's many courtyards, right to the edge of the forest.
You stopped dead in your tracks as your mouth hung agape. You couldn't believe what you were looking at. Before you, laid a maze that stretched on for miles. Cedric followed your gaze and his mouth fell open. Adrian turned away from your shocked faces and let out an astounded gasp as he struggled to keep his jaw from dropping to the ground.
"That's your task?" You whispered in utter shock as you shook your head in disbelief. Cedric had gone tense next to you as he stared out at the maze.
"Apparently so," Cedric replied quietly, the fear echoing in his voice. You wrapped your arms around him as you held your breath.
"Cedric...I can't lose you..." You whispered fearfully as you tightened your grasp. Cedric shook his head slowly and kissed your silky hair.
"You won't. I promise. I'll come home to you and we'll have our happily ever after," He reassured you as he continued to lead you back down the hill, towards the maze.
"Ced, I'm scared..." You whimpered as you neared the arena, the hedges towering over you, like mortar walls surrounding a prison. You bit your lip fearfully as Cedric held you.
"Honestly, baby girl, so am I," He replied as he led you through a door underneath the roaring stands. You sucked in a sharp breath as you tried to calm yourself.
"There you two are! The task is about to start," Mr. Diggory exclaimed as he rushed over to you, enveloping his son in a tight embrace.
Cedric turned to you and grasped your face in his strong hands, as he started down at you lovingly. You placed your own hands over his and savored his touch.
"Stay safe. I love you so much," You whispered as you planted a delicate kiss on his lips. He nodded and pulled you into a loving embrace.
"I will, I promise. I love you too. Forever and Always," Cedric promised as he kissed you again and intertwined your hands with his own.
"Just...Just don't die on me..." You whispered fearfully as you bit your lip nervously. He smiled confidently and held you closer.
"I wouldn't dream of it," He responded as he kissed you one last time and disappeared with his father, into the arena. You sighed, tiredly as you trudged up the winding stairs towards the roaring crowds in the arena. You sat down next to Adrian and Terence, just as the maze swallowed him.
-Time Skip -
The sun had set an hour ago and you had bitten off all of your nails. Adrian wrapped an arm around you to try and calm your nerves.
Fleur and Viktor had returned hours ago but Harry and Cedric were nowhere to be seen. You bounced up and down nervously as Terence stared off into space, in utter boredom. Just as you were about to give up hope, a bright flash of light appeared, startling everyone.
You blinked rapidly to clear your vision as you stood up abruptly. When the lights cleared, it revealed both your fiancé and Harry. But not in the way you had hoped. Cedric was collapsed on the ground, all the color drained from his face. His eyes rolled back in his head. You screamed in terror as you ran down to the middle the arena. Harry had tears streaming down his face as you continued to scream.
"CEDRIC! No! No! Not my Cedric! He can't be! This isn't! No! He's not...he's not dead...right...right?!" You screamed as you threw yourself over him.
"I'm so sorry, (Y/N)" Harry whispered as you sobbed harder. No. No. No. This couldn't be happening. Not to him. Not to you. No. He couldn't be dead. No. You didn't want to believe it.
"You promised! Cedric! You promised!" You cried as if he could hear you. You held your fiancé in your arms tightly as you continued to cry.
Professor McGonagall hurried over to you as she attempted to pry you away from Cedric's body. Before she could, a hand intertwined with your own, and held to you weakly.
"And I kept my promise. I wouldn't dream of dying on you," he whispered as you fell back into his waiting arms.
"I thought you were dead..." You whispered just as he fell unconscious.
