Captain to Captain
"I really want to kiss you, and I would, if you weren't covered in mud!" You laughed as Cedric handed you a steaming cup of coco. Quidditch tryouts had run extremely late and your team hadn't left the field until 10 PM. That was a little less than a hour ago. Cedric smiled back as he sat down in the wooden stands next to you. You had asked Fred, who was out pranking innocent first years, to deliver a message to Mr. Diggory for you.
It had been over 2 weeks since you had last seen Cedric. Over 2 weeks since you had talked about needing space. But now, all you could think about was seeing your boyfriend. You missed him. You needed him.
"Come on Diggory! Not afraid of a little mud, are you?" You teased as you leaned in to kiss him. He grinned but shied away. You laughed, staring out at the Quidditch Pitch. How were you ever going to make a decision?
"Of course not! But I'd rather not get my robes dirty! I just cleaned and ironed them. They're brand new too!" He insisted. You laughed again, but your mind was far away.
"So, you're choosing your robes over me? I can't believe this," you exclaimed, a fake look of shock crossing your features. He laughed, rolling his eyes. You smirked and continued to tease him. You'd get him to break. "Who knew? The infamous Cedric Diggory is afraid to get muddy. He won't even kiss his own girlfriend, because he doesn't want his robes to get dirty. It's an outrage really! I've-"
He cut you off by smashing his lips into your own. You smirked into the kiss. You knew you would be able to break him. He pressed his lips into yours harder than you had anticipated. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you onto his lap. His robes were sure to get dirty now. When you finally pulled back, gasping for air, you rested your forehead, gently against his. He stared into your (E/C) eyes and smiled. You grinned back at him.
"That was so worth getting my robes dirty for..." he replied, breathlessly. You smirked, kissing the tip of his nose. He studied you a minute longer, before his smile contorted into a worried frown. His hands settling at the small of your back. "...But I'm going to guess you didn't have Weasley deliver that message to me so we could make-out."
You averted your eyes. It sounded odd and embarrassing when he said it like that. He grinned, kissing your cheek. "What did he do?"
"Well...I was walking towards the common room from the library, when out of nowhere, I'm slammed into a wall. And before I can process any of this, someone has a wand pointed at the bridge of my nose. All he said was Well if it isn't Pretty-Boy-Diggory. I just happen to know someone whose looking for you. She happens to be awful pretty herself and if she wasn't already yours, I would've asked her out. I wouldn't keep her waiting too long, she's out on the Quidditch Pitch. Good luck. And then he disappeared."
You laughed as he recounted the story. Cedric smiled as he kissed you again. Gently. Your hands wound themselves into his hair, pulling him towards you. You kept you foreheads pressed together, tightly. Cedric let out an exasperated sigh. You grinned, slightly. "I'm sorry. I didn't tell him to do that."
"I don't know why you even told him about us in the first place. I almost punched him for saying he would've asked you out of you weren't already taken. If he ever makes a move on you, tell me and I'll take care of that Weasel. Nobody messes with my girl. But he did have one thing right. You. Are. Mine." You laughed, kissing him again and again.
"That I am, Ced. That I am. But you had one thing right, too. I didn't send Fred so we could sit here and make-out all night." He stuck out his lower lip in protest, pouting. You rolled your eyes, but you couldn't help the smile from crossing your lips.
"Then why did you call me down here? Not that I'm complaining. I missed my girl. I was starting to think that I'd have to have Snape give me another detention." You shuddered at the thought, causing him to laugh. Detention with Snape was hell.
"I actually wanted to talk about something more business like. I want to talk about Quidditch. Captain to Captain. You know?" Your boyfriend was Team Captain and Seeker for the Hufflepuffs. You were hoping he could provide some, much needed, advice on your current situation.
"Okay. Yeah. Let's talk about Quidditch. I hope you're not devising a master plan to kick my team's asses. We can't handle your wrath." You smiled. Everyone knew Slytherins weren't afraid to get their hands dirty, especially when it came to Quidditch.
"No, I'm afraid I haven't gotten that far. Yet. I have a bit of a dilemma within my own team," you replied. Cedric smirked.
"Ah, trouble in paradise? Or is someone giving my baby a hard time? Whose face do I need to break?" You chuckled, rolling your eyes. He was always so protective.
"Not that kind of dilemma. And I can handle myself just fine. Thank you very much. But you see, Lucius Malfoy took the time to send me a letter. He wants me to give Draco a position as Seeker on my team in exchange for new brooms. But I already have a Seeker. And trust me Terence was not happy. I don't know what to do! We could use new brooms. Don't tell me I'm falling for bribery either, because I saw Malfoy play. And he's not half bad. He may be as good as Potter. But I'd feel awful if I kicked Terence off the team. Oh God, Ced! I don't know what to do! What should I do?"
He thought for a minute, biting his lip. His hands, absentmindedly, ran up and down your back in quick, fleeting movements. "I don't know, baby. I would say do what's best for your team. Do you have a new Chaser to replace Flint yet?"
"No. I've been so distracted with this whole Seeker drama, that I haven't even thought about the other positions. But from what I saw, none of the new kids had much promise. They weren't good enough to win!"
"Wasn't Higgs a Chaser in our 2nd year? Then you gave him the Seeker position when Adrian transferred in 3rd year. Now that Marcus is gone, why don't you give Higgs the extra Chaser position and Malfoy can be Seeker. Everyone wins. No one gets kicked off. Your team gets stronger. And you get new brooms. Problem solved."
You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck. Why hadn't you thought of that. Cedric was always the one who could solve a problem in a matter of minutes. "That's brilliant! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that!" Cedric grinned.
"I know. I've been told I'm quite a genius. Not to mention that I'm the Hufflepuff team captain and I'll have to agree with Weasley. I am pretty handsome. Wouldn't you say so, baby?" He teased, as you rolled your eyes again, flicking his forehead.
"Don't let it go to your head. No one likes an arrogant fool. Besides, being narcissistic isn't in a Hufflepuff's nature. Is it baby?" He smirked, kissing your cheek.
"Alright. Alright. Do I at least get a reward for helping? A kiss should do the trick." You shook your head, pulling yourself up from his lap, before he had a chance to grab your waist. He pouted, leaving a smile on your face.
"Not a chance Diggory. Not a chance." And with that, you took off running towards the school. Leaving Cedric stunned. He smirked as he watched you disappear safely back into the castle. How was he ever going to pin you down? There was no way to do it.
