Chapter 2
Six Months Later
"Haru??" Makoto called out to the boy who was turning eleven today. "Where is the cake?" He asked, knowing the small boy wanted to decorate the cake himself somehow.
"I put it in the fridge," he said as he was sitting outside, the front door open on a warm summer day. It was June 30th, Haruka's birthday. He would be turning eleven, and he invited a few kids from his class for a birthday party. He didn't want one, but Makoto forced him because he wanted him to be a little more social.
However, an hour after the starting party time, no one came, except one.
Rin Matsuoka.
Rin was really the only good friend Haru had, and a year or two older than him. He even went to a different school, and was going to Australia the next year. He was an energetic, tough boy, yet sensitive and sometimes a baby. He loved swimming, and that was the reason why he could be going to Australia.
Haru was saddened that no one truly cared about him in class, so he was sitting in the corner, staring at the invitation card he gave out to his classmates.
Do they really pity me just because my parents died last year? Is they why they are so nice to me..? They just pity me?
Thoughts streamed through Haruka's head, and it was the first ever wave of depression he has gotten. He felt like no one really wanted him, and that no one loved him. He never knew exactly what happened to his parents. It was too gruesome for someone of his age to know.
No one wants me. No one even loves me.
Maybe.
Probably not.
It was odd, but Haruka couldn't keep it out of his head. He curled up in the corner, holding his legs close to his chest. It was a part of growing up, but he was growing up faster than his body could even handle.
"Haru?" A young boy with red hair and red eyes called out to him. Haruka looked up slowly at the figure standing before him. "I don't want you sad. It's depressing and annoying," he said as he sat beside him. "Now, what are you so sad about?" He asked.
Haruka knew it was easier to talk to a friend than a parent, so Haruka began to speak. "No one wants me, Rin," he said. "My real parents left me here with Makoto, and they didn't care how it would affect me." He said, really and truly having a sad look in his blue eyes.
Rin stared at him and frowned. "Haru.." Rin knew exactly what happened, the whole gist of it. It was hard for himself to even believe it, and all he could worry about was what would happen if Haru found out. But, he didn't know he wasn't allowed to.
"They died.."
