Rescue party!
I keep my pace as I head straight for the animatronic beast that's still causing destruction. My thoughts are a whirlwind—I'm still processing the girl I just helped, and there's no time to stop and reflect. The roar of the mechanical monster rumbles in the background, but it doesn't stop me. I need to take it down, or at least create enough of a distraction for everyone else to survive.
As I approach the creature again, I catch sight of more people. A group this time—a girl, struggling to move, and a guy who looks like he's built for speed. My eyes lock on him instantly. His blue hair, his glasses, and the speed at which he's moving are all too familiar.
Iida.
I don't know him personally, but I know the name. His quirk is based on super speed, right? And his connection to Ingenium—the hero who's basically the fastest man alive in terms of speed quirks. This guy? Must be his brother.
He's already in action, darting between debris and helping people get out of the way. His speed is impressive—faster than most people I've ever seen. But he's not alone. A girl with short brown hair and a determined look is working alongside him, pulling civilians to safety as the creature continues to wreak havoc.
I'm moving closer now, trying to get a better vantage point. I see the guy—the blue-haired one—dashing toward the girl who's fallen and trying to move with a twisted ankle. I'm not sure what her quirk is, but I see the desperation in her eyes. There's no hesitation from Iida as he scoops her up and runs, his speed making him a blur. He's fast. Almost too fast.
But what really gets me is the way he's working with the girl. They're not just doing this randomly. They're working as a team. Coordinating their moves like they've been doing this for years.
That's teamwork, I think to myself. That's how you get things done.
I keep running, trying to stay on the creature's tail. It's hard to tell what exactly its weaknesses are, but I'm still looking for anything I can use to my advantage. As I pass a collapsed building, I see a glimpse of Iida again, this time coming back to check on a group of panicked students.
Without thinking, I make a sharp turn, heading in his direction. If I can team up with him—hell, if I can just work with anyone right now—it might make this whole exam a lot more manageable.
I spot him as he slows down to make sure the others are safe. His eyes widen as he notices me heading straight for him. He doesn't hesitate.
Me: "Hey!"
I shout as I approach, jumping off a pile of rubble to land in front of him.
Me: You're Ingenium's brother, right?"
He nods quickly, scanning the area as we keep moving.
Iida: "Yes, I am! My name's Tenya Iida! And you are?"
Me: "Izuku Midoriya. Looks like we've both got the same goal—getting civilians out of danger. We've got to work together. There are still people trapped, and I can't get to everyone on my own."
Iida: "I agree"
Me: "You focus on speed, and I'll—well, I'll use my head. We'll cover more ground that way."
He nods firmly.
Iida: "Agreed."
And just like that, we're in sync. Iida takes off like a bullet, zooming through the wreckage, clearing a path for people to escape. Meanwhile, I'm using my parkour skills to navigate through the mess, leaping over obstacles, and finding ways to guide the frightened civilians in the right direction.
The girl who was with him earlier—she's right behind him now, pulling along another person. It's almost like they've created their own little rescue team, and even though we've only just met, we're all working together like we've known each other for years.
Iida doesn't waste any time, darting between fallen debris, his speed almost blinding. He's more than just fast. His precise control over his quirk is impressive, and I can tell he's calculating every move. The way he moves—it's like he's always a step ahead.
I'm moving in tandem with him now, my eyes scanning the area for anything else that could be a threat. The animatronic creature is still in the distance, but there are more immediate concerns—more people, more danger.
As we reach a group of students huddling together, trying to avoid the falling rubble, I quickly look over my shoulder to see Iida zooming back into action. He's in his element now—running circles around obstacles with ease, getting people to safety faster than I thought possible.
I can't help but smile. There's something so impressive about watching him work. I don't have a speed quirk, but I do have agility—and I can certainly think on my feet. It's clear that we both complement each other's abilities in ways that make us a force to be reckoned with.
After helping a few more civilians, I spot something that makes my heart drop—a group of students trapped under debris near the creature's path. The massive machine is still advancing, and there's no way they'll make it out in time if we don't do something.
I turn to Iida, locking eyes with him as he skids to a halt near me.
Me: "We have to move them! If we don't, they're toast."
Iida's gaze flickers to the scene, his mind already working.
iida: "Right. On it."
He's already moving, bolting ahead as I follow close behind.
Together, we get to the group quickly. Iida uses his speed to move the heavier pieces of debris, while I find the safest path to lead them out. There's no time to waste. The creature's massive head is still looming overhead, and I can feel the ground shaking beneath me.
We're not just fighting a robot anymore. We're fighting to survive.
Iida pushes forward with everything he's got, and I'm right behind him, doing what I can to get the students out of harm's way.
There's no time for fear.
