Applejack noticed a change in Rainbow's behavior. She was happier and more talkative when around them.

Applejack was sitting beside Rainbow Dash. Her rainbow colored hair was flying and flowing as she moved around with a ton of energy. She had a huge smile as she talked about the soccer game she had the day before. Applejack was just watching her, listening to her every word.

"And so yeah. It was so awesome".

Rainbow crossed her arms.

"We were on fire out there".

She unfolded them as quickly as she had folded them. As she talked, she used her hands for motions.

"The feeling of the adrenaline and the excitement of the game was awesome. I felt like I was so free".

Rainbow flopped on Applejack's lap. She sighed dramatically, looking at Applejack.

"Hi".

Applejack grinned. "Hey there, beautiful".

Rainbow froze at the nickname. A blush spread on her cheeks. Applejack had made it her mission to show Rainbow that she was beautiful and speacial to her. Of course, Rainbow being Rainbow, she didn't believe it.

Applejack wasn't going to give up easily.

Applejack poked her cheek. Rainbow turned away, covering her face. Applejack smirked. She looked up to see the girls looking at them.

She mouthed silently, "Is she smiling??".

Rarity gave a nod. Applejack looked down at Rainbow. Rainbow sat up. She looked at Applejack shyly.

"Thank you", she said, her voice quiet and soft much like a child.

Applejack wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. She kissed her cheek.

"Ew", Rainbow giggled. "Mushy gushy kisses. I love it but it's groooossss".

Applejack wrapped her other arm around her, holding her trapped in her embrace.

"Then ah won't stop".

Applejack kissed her all over her face. She grabbed Rainbow's wrists so she couldn't pull away. Rainbow giggled.

"That tickles, AJ. Stop and let go. You know I don't like physical contact".

She giggled as Applejack tickled her.

"But chur so cute", Applejack said. "Ah don't wanna let you go".

Rainbow's wrists were released. Rainbow attempted to leap off the couch but was stopped. Arms wrapped around her waist and stomach. Fingers found her sides.

Rainbow laughed loudly as she was tickled. She squirmed and wiggled but it was no use. Applejack and Rainbow fell to the floor. Applejack got on top of Rainbow, still attacking her sides.

"Please", Rainbow laughed. "Let me go!!.

Applejack grinned. "Nah. Not yet".

Rainbow tried to fight her off. But her laughter made her muscles relax. She was helpless underneath Applejack. Tears of laughter sprang to her eyes.

Applejack was quite enjoying this. She should do this more often.

"Applejack", Rainbow howled. "I'm gonna pee myself. Seriously".

With tears of laughter running down her face and laughs coming from her, she didn't sound serious at all.

"I can't breathe", Rainbow cackled. "I'm gonna-".

She laughed for a few more seconds.

"I'm gonna die!".

Applejack decided she'd had enough for today. She stopped. Rainbow was catching her breath. She giggled uncontrollably. Applejack watched her girlfriend.

Rainbow took a deep breath. She suddenly burst into a fit of giggles.

"You're evil".

Rainbow laid there, giggling like an idiot. The others watched in amusement.

Finally Rainbow was just laying there.
"Oh dear Celestia. That was torture".

Applejack giggled. "C'mon", she said.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

"Where are we going??", she asked.

Applejack stood up. She pulled Rainbow up to her feet.

"The skatin' rink".

Rainbow gasped in excitement, her eyes wide and full of joy.

"Really??".

Applejack nodded. Rainbow bounced in excitement.

"Oh my gosh. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you!!".

"Let's go get ready", Applejack said.

Rainbow pulled her out, telling her to hurry up. The others laughed.

"Of course", Twilight said, smiling. "Oh Rainbow Dash".

Rainbow smiled as they walked up to the skating center. The building was calling to her. She speed walked through the parking lot, her skates in one hand and Applejack's wrist in the other.

"Slow down", Applejack said. "The buildin' ain't gonna go anywhere".

"Well I wanna get there and spend as much time in there as possible".

Applejack looked at the others. They were trying to keep up with the two. Rainbow was dragging Applejack. The teen had her mind set on the skating center and nothing was gonna stop her from getting there.

Applejack was struggling to keep from tripping over herself.

She was glad when they walked in, the cold air surrounding them. Rainbow stopped abruptly, making Applejack bump into her.

"Rainbow!!".

Applejack took a step back. She looked at the teen. Rainbow took a deep breath and sighed, relaxing.

"Home sweet home", she said.

Then she was off again. The girls rolled her eyes.

They walked over to the desk. Rainbow's uncle was there. Her smiled.

"Hey kids", he said.

He looked at Rainbow.

"How's my favorite girl in whole wide world??".

"Great", Rainbow replied.

"It's all ready for ya", Strike said, grinning.

"Go on ahead, girls. I'll be there in a bit".

Rainbow thanked him before grabbing Applejack's hand.

"C'mon!!".

Applejack groaned. "Not again".

Rainbow giggled as she glided on the ice. She had her hair in a ponytail.

She was free to skate. She had Applejack right beside her. The two skated, hand in hand. On occasion, Rainbow would break away to show off. She'd do flips and pirouettes and other tricks she knew. The girls watched in amusement as she enjoyed her freedom.

Applejack could see how Rainbow was relaxed and genuinely enjoying herself on ice. The ice rink had some magic about it that made even Rainbow smiling and laughing at all times.

Rainbow skated up to Applejack. She stopped. She held out her hands.

"Let's dance".

Applejack raised an eyebrow.

"But there ain't any music".

Rainbow made a "pshh" sound, giving her a look that said, 'so??'.

"It doesn't matter. Let's dance anyway".

She gave Applejack a puppy face. Applejack smiled. She couldn't say no to her when she looked like that.

"Fine".

Rainbow clapped in excitement. She went up to Applejack. She suddenly froze, her smile falling.

"I just realized that we have to touch to dance".

Rainbow held her hands to her chest, in lose fists. She bit her lip, uncertainty clearly on her face. Applejack grinned.

She held out a hand.

"It's alright. It's just me".

Rainbow looked at the others.

"I've never really been comfortable being touched by people. Like...... I don't really realize when I touch someone but when I do, it's weird and kinda scary".

"But we're almost never apart", Applejack said. "You're always cling'n on to me".

"Well that's because I don't really think about it. But when I stop and really think about it, I freeze up".

Applejack reached out and pulled her close. Rainbow leaned back a little. She felt a hand on her back. She looked into Applejack's eyes. Rainbow rested a timid hand on Applejack's shoulder. Their other hands were joined.

Applejack started to hum a tune. Rainbow smiled. The two started to dance slowly. The pair skated around on the ice, both humming, their eyes fixed on eachother. They didn't dare look away.

"So this is love", Applejack sang quietly.

Rainbow giggled.

"So this is love", she sang along.

Applejack smiled, pearly whites showing. "So this is what makes life divine".

"I love Cinderella", Rainbow said.

"Same", Applejack said. "Ah wanna be the prince charmin'".

Rainbow pouted. "But I don't wanna be the girl".

Applejack gave her a look. "Too bad, CinderRain".

"CinderRain??", Rainbow asked. "That's so corny".

"Oh well. You love me still", Applejack said with a shrug and grin.

Rainbow rolled her eyed. "Yeah. I guess".

Applejack smirked, raising an eyebrow.

"You guess??".

Rainbow giggled. She took a step backwards. Her foot slipped, sending her back. Applejack reacted immediately and caught her. Rainbow wrapped her arms around her neck as a reflex. They froze.

Rainbow panted lightly, her heart racing. She looked up at Applejack, blushing.

The two locked eyes. Staring at eachother, the two relaxed.

"Caught cha", Applejack whispered.

Rainbow unhooked her arms. She lightly touched her left cheek.

Finally Applejack made a move. She held the back of Rainbow's head. She closed her eyes and pressed their lips together.

Rainbow kissed back, relaxing her body, knowing Applejack was strong enough to hold her up. Seconds passed but it seemed like time stopped for them. It was just them in the moment.

Of course they got the attention of their friends. They watched with smirks, giggles, and phones snapping pics to show later for their evil purposes of blackmail. But they wouldn't mind.

The two teens finally broke the kiss. They looked at eachother standing up straight. Rainbow smiled. She shyly looked at their linked fingers.

"Thank you", she said. "I don't know what I'd do without you".

Applejack grinned. "Well no need".

Rainbow's face fell. "I have to go home soon and face my dad".

Applejack frowned. She took her hands in hers.

"Why can't we just call the police??", she asked with a shrug. "Ah really fear fir your life, Rainbow. Ah'm scared ta let chu go home now that ah know what that man you call a father does ta you".

Rainbow grinned. "I'll be okay. It's no deal".

"No big deal??. Rainbow. This is a big deal and you know it is. You're jusy probably used to it after all these years ir somethin' but this ain't no big deal".

Rainbow sighed. She shrugged. "He'll kill me if he finds out I told".

"Ah won't let him hurt chu", Applejack said with all seriousness.

Rainbow grinned lamely. "I know you wouldn't. But you can't protect me every second of the day".

"Ah would if ah could", Applejack said.

"I know".

Rainbow rested her forehead against Applejack's. She sighed.

"I'm scared but I'm trying to be brave".

Applejack brought Rainbow's hand up to her lips. She lightly kissed the top of her hands.

"Ya can't be brave all the time", she said.

Rainbow nodded. "But I can still try".

Applejack sighed. "Ah still really think we should get the police involved".

Rainbow shook her head.

"Why??".

Rainbow sighed. "I can't lose you".

Applejack raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean??".

Rainbow pulled away, her eyes downcast.

"We'll talk about it later", she said. "When we get home".

Applejack nodded. She gave Rainbow a gentle squeeze.

"Sure. Whatever you want", she said. "Let's go skate".

Rainbow looked at her. She suddenly hugged her around her neck. Applejack thought it was weird but didn't say anything. She wrapped her arms securely around Rainbow's waist, hugging back.

The two stayed like that for a while.

"Applejack", Rainbow said. "If something ever happens to me-".

Applejack pulled away. "Don't say that", she said sternly. "Yir father will be dead first before he kills you".

Rainbow sighed. "If I were to be killed by him, I would want you to have this necklace".

Rainbow pointed to the necklace she was wearing. Applejack noticed she wore it a lot.

"It was my mom's before she gave it to me. It means everything to me".

Applejack looked at the red lightning bolt charm. She nodded.

"Okay. But that won't be necessary".

Rainbow smiled. "Wishful hoping never works".

"Ah'm not hopin', ah'm tellin' you. You're gonna be just fine. You're not going ta die anytime soon".

Rainbow sighed. "If I know my dad, he'll try to kill me before I turn eighteen".

Applejack's arm snaked around her protectively.

"Ah really think we should go to the police. Don't you wanna be free from him and not live in fear in yir own home".

Rainbow stared at her.

"I do...... it's just.......".

She sighed, hanging her head, shaking her head softly.

"It's complicated", she said, resting her head against Applejack's chest.

"Hey". Applejack lifted Rainbow's head so they looked at eachother.

"We'll talk about it later. Okay??".

Rainbow nodded. "I'm hungry".

Applejack smiled. "Let's go get somethin' ta eat".
