"Girls, finish her."

As the one girl said that, i looked up in fear as the other four came at me with psychopath grins on their face's. By the look in there eyes, it looked like they were going to kill me. I closed my eyes and curled into a ball preparing for all the impact. Just as i had hid my face, they all gathered around me and started to kick me in the back, stomach, legs, arms and any place they could find on my body. "This (y/n), is why girls don't mess with the love of our lives." You started to cry harder wanting them to go away and to never see them again. The kicks kept getting harder and harder as they began to get more and more angry. "STOP!!!!" The girls all stopped as they looked up. You sniffed and wiped away your tears, hoping that as you looked up they wouldn't bother you. Wanting to see your savior, you looked up and saw someone who you thought would be the last person you would see, it was Kaneki. You smiled in relief as he came to the rescue. "Pft, ha ha ha ha, wow, and who might you be? The hero of the day?!" All the girls laughed at Kaneki. You had to do something or they were going to hurt him. "L-LEAVE HIM ALONE!!" You yelled, the leader of the group exchanged looks between you and the boy. She came up to you and grabbed your chin harshly making you look at her in the eyes. "Remember what we said (y/n), never EVER go near the ones we love, or we will be the ones you will have to deal with." You stared at her with tears staining your cheeks, as she roughly pulled your chin to look the other way, your (h/c) hair fell in front of your face. She called the girls off you and they walked away gossiping like nothing had happened.

You started to get up pushing your hair behind your ear. Rubbing your arms, as you knew they would start to bruise. Looking at Kaneki with innocent eyes, you saw the concern written all over his face. He started to run to you as you lowered your head beginning to cry. He embraced you with a tight hug. You two fell to the ground once again crying in his arms. As you sobbed into his chest, Kaneki just sat there and let it happen. You felt his warm breath against your neck, it made you feel safe and like you could always trust in him. This made you smile, it was nice to know that someone cared. You looked up at Kaneki with tears streaming down your (s/c) skin. "Why did you help me?" You asked in a sweet and innocent voice. He just looked at you like you were crazy. "(y/n), why wouldn't i help you, you were in trouble. I couldn't just stand there and watch." You looked up at him and began to get up off the ground once again. "You could have been hurt." You tried looking for your stuff from when the girls kicked it away when Kaneki quickly stood up and grabbed your arm. "What do you mean i could have been hurt, you could have gone unconscious if i didn't help you! Why didn't you scream for help? Or even ask them to stop?" With that, you froze in your spot. Why. Why is a good question. Why didn't i make them stop? Why did i let them hurt me? 

You finally found your stuff and started to pick it all up. You tried to find an answer to his question, but found nothing. "I, i don't know." Replying with an uncertain face, you began to walk away as if nothing had happened. By the look on Kaneki's face, he was shocked, his silver eyes wide. Probably because the way you acted and how you could just brush something like that off. You said goodbye to Kaneki and started to walk home, yet, you didn't know that something had sparked in Kaneki. He now had the urge to do what ever it took to know that you would be safe and to make sure those girls wouldn't hurt you. Although you couldn't find the answer to Kaneki's question, you knew exactly why you didn't scream for help.

--Flash Back--

It was a nice day outside and you decided to call Luke over to go to the park. You always loved the park and Luke was your best friend. As soon as you heard the doorbell you run as fast as your little legs could carry you. You see your mum already at the door greeting Luke and his mum. You two have the biggest smiles on your faces. You arrive at the park and Luke is the first on the swings. You giggle and run after him, struggling to get on the seat, Luke lifts you up and then gets on the other. You swing for hours imagining you are astronauts and you are trying to get yourselves to the moon in time to stop the alien invasion. "Come on (y/n)!! We need to stop the aliens!!! Quick! Get to the top of the play house!!" You two giggled as you climbed to the top. You could see every thing from up there. It was a beautiful site, from the green lands to the glistening blue lake. You noticed a little boy who looked lonely and sad. You jumped down and looked closer. "(y/n)? Where are you going?" Luke came up behind you and saw where you were looking. "He is sad. We should ask him to play with us!!" You said in a cheerful voice. You began to skip over to the boy, because of your personality, you always found it nice to help people, even if you were only young, you knew a little smile would always make someone feel a little happier.

You and Luke were walking up to the boy when he noticed you coming and stud up, walking around the corner. "(y/n), we shouldn't follow him, he probably wants to be alone." You turned and looked at Luke smiling. "Come on Luke, don't be a scaredy cat, think of it as meeting another friend!" With that you followed the boy around the corner. Looking around for the boy, you found him walking into an ally way. Without thinking, you ran after the boy excited to meet a new friend. "Hello there! Do you want to play with us? H-hello?" With that the boy came out of the darkness. You screamed in horror as the boy had blood red pupils and the rest of his eye was pitch black. He came running at you with all his strength. "(y/n)!!! Watch out!!!" Luke pushed you aside and you fell to the ground. "LUKE!!" You scream as you witnessed your best friend being knocked down to the ground and seeing the boy bit into Luke's shoulder. He screamed out in pain as he told you to run. "(y-y/n) GO!! Go and save yourself!!" You ran as fast as you could, tears streaming down your (s/c) skin. You quickly find your mum and tell her everything. You couldn't just leave your best friend there to die. You ran back with your mum to find Luke lying there unconscious with blood gushing from his shoulder. He was still breathing......he was still alive.
