Sam needed my help. I wasn't the only person whose help she needed, but I felt special knowing that she had asked me. When I got home, I ran around my room in joy. To feel appreciated for once, born to an alcoholic mother and my father dying when I was young. My mother abandoned me when I was about 13. So I felt like nothing for as long as 10 years. That would be up to... two years ago. When I met Sam and Jonathan. Sam took me in. Well, kinda. Thing is... She bumped into me when we first met. She had lost her way, and told me that one of her contact lenses had gotten stuck in its case. She pulled it out and I helped her. We had been friends since then.

I lived alone in a rather small apartment. I did have a dog, Layla. She was quite small. I picked her up and set her on my lap. She tried to lick my face, but I pushed her away. Today was a peaceful day. No school, no earthquakes, no annoying neighbors. I got out my phone and started reading stories on an app called Wattpad. (A/N: Talk about breaking the 4th wall, am I right?)

I read so much that I hardly noticed the day go by. By the time I realized, it was almost 7:45. Well, as long as I've got some time left in the day, might as well get some dinner... I thought. I left my apartment, twirling my keys around my finger.

I chose to eat at a new restaurant that opened last week. Once I finished ordering, I noticed someone familiar. Thomas? He was talking to someone sitting across from him. If only I could see who... I hid myself from him in case he looked my way. When I looked up, they were still talking. Then the other person got up to use the bathroom. Perfect! I thought. I could get to see who it was.

I looked over and there was... Esmeralda? Thomas, you sly dog. You actually asked her out, didn't you?
