I think I had pissed him off, I mused as I watched his hand clench tightly on the steering wheel. I watched him with a satisfied smirk.
Maybe I was out of line - but so was he. I was never unnecessarily rude to people I had just met - and who would be taking me into their home - but I wasn't the type of person to be looked down upon by a stuck-up rich prick who though I was nothing but a strung-out burden he had to take care of.
Trust me, I was grateful for everything he was doing for me; but my brother didn't raise me to be weak.
"We are going to catch our flight - then we are going to go over rules you must follow to be able to stay in my house." He hissed, eyes glaring back at me. "I'm great with rules - if you respect me, I will respect you. It goes both ways, Mr. Blackbourne." I advised wisely, breaking eye contact to pull my long hair and tie it into a bun.
Respect me, I respect you.
Disrespect me, fuck you.
It's as simple as that.
"Humph," He rose a brow as he finally looked away from me.
Fucker.
I kept silent to make sure we didn't have another battle of the sarcastic wits, and when we finally arrived at the airport, I grabbed my bags and stepped outside of the car, taking in a few deep breaths of fresh air I probably wouldn't get when we arrived to wherever the fuck he lived. "Miss. Nolan, come." He ordered yet again before I followed after him, climbing the steep metal steps before finally sitting down on a seat far away from Mr. Blackbourne.
"We will be arriving in Charleston in about ten hours," Mr. Blackbourne cleared his throat as he handed me a piece of paper, "This paper contains the rules I have set for you. You will follow them or else." He warned and I smirked--laughing while I did so.
"What are you going to do? Spank me?" I couldn't believe the nerve of the bitch-did he live in the 18th century? Mr. Blackbourne's eyes darkened in annoyance mixed with anger before he replied, "If it will get my point across." He replied coldly as I rolled my eyes.
"Fine, I'll read it."
Damn this motherfucker. I finally glanced down at the paper and started reading through the rules he had placed, pursing my lips as I did so.
# 1 - You agree to start school when Mr. Blackbourne sees fit
# 2 - You must be home by 8 PM (10 PM on weekends)
# 3 - You will consent to take part in helping around the house (cooking, cleaning, etc.)
# 4 - Your room must be clean at all times
# 5 - No taking part in illegal activities
# 6 - You will consent to taking a drug test EVERY week
# 7 - No drinking
# 8 - You will not be allowed to take "partners" to your room unless permission is given.
# 9 - You will consent to have a check-up once a month by a certified doctor.
# 10 - You will agree to all of these rules.
What. The. Fuck. I was fucking astounded by the rules--some of them. I was okay with the helping out, school, room cleaning, the curfew, even the part about school! But the fucking drug test--Bitch, I may be an eighteen-year-old alcoholic but I never fucking touched drugs! I was way too scared to fuck with anything like that, especially after witnessing what it does to people with my own eyes!
Also, the fucking doctor's appointment!? Did they think I had herpes---or STD's!?
I was a virgin, plain and simple.
"I accept." I sighed; I didn't think I had a choice--not if I wanted to be able to live comfortably in Charleston. "Good, now many things will be hectic around the house--planning a wedding will do that--" He sighed sadly, as a flash of sadness reflected in his eyes before it was gone as quick as it came. "But come to me if you have anything that you need." His lips pressed down to a think line, he didn't want me to.
"I don't think I need to; I'll be gone in no time." I spoke up, glancing down at my journal as I scribbled down my plans. First, I would get settled in--but never unpack my shit, I would need to grab my shit quickly and scram. Second, get a job to buy a plane ticket--it would probably cost around three hundred American dollars, not counting the money I would have to spend on the ride to the airport.
If everything worked according to plan; I would be back home in a month, maybe two if I didn't get a job right away.
"What do you mean by that?" Mr. Blackbourne rose an inquiring brow, curious as I shrugged.
"Exactly what I meant. I'll stop the drinking, get better, and get the hell back home."
Couldn't this motherfucker read between the lines.
"If you say so." He smirked slightly, as if he knew something I didn't.
"Now, I have more things to explain to you--you will also be living with my brothers and our fiancée--there are nine of them in all. Sean, Kota, Victor, Nathan, North, Luke, Gabriel, and Silas. There...is one thing I need to try and explain." He swallowed hard and opened his mouth.
I had a feeling of what he was going to say. Especially after the 'Our Fiancée' part.
"That you and your brothers are dating--no all engaged to the same girl?"
"Precisely--Wait...how did you know?" His beady eyes glared at me as he looked closer into my eyes, damn--he acted like I secretly ran a background check on them.
"While you were doing your unnecessary speech, you said our fiancée. It doesn't a genius to figure it out." I rolled my eyes, before reclining back into the comfortable seat as the plane started to take off. But I could still feel his observing eyes on me as I tried to rest, until I grew annoyed.
"Yes?" I asked, while my eyes were closed. Maybe after he got every single one of his questions answered, he would leave me be.
"You're not disgusted by it?--never mind; your opinion doesn't matter." He muttered before going quiet and finally letting me rest.
My opinion doesn't matter? I'll be sure to fucking remember that.
