Kazumi's POV

We're lost again. Brock took out the map and unfolded it. Looking at it we see the path we're on will lead to route 24. Which would then take us to Vermilion City. So Brock folds the map up and puts it away. As we were about to continue a shadow fell over us. Electra got ready to fight. I then see a Pokémon on the rock, it was a Charmander. I take out Dexlee and point it at Charmander.

"Charmander, the lizard Pokémon. The flame on it's tail is there since birth and if it goes out. Charmander will die. The flame can also be used as an indication of Charmander's health and mood. Charmanders are found in hot mountain areas in packs" Dexlee explains.

"Hey look it's fire looks very weak" Misty states.

"That's not good, we should get him to a pokemon centre" Brock states. Agreeing I throw a pokeball, but Charmander hits it away. We knew a battle would be to dangerous. So I throw my ball again and Charmander goes in. But comes out and Electra goes to talk to it. She then told me how Charmander was waiting for it's trainer.

"Ok, I hope your trainer arrives soon" I tell the Charmander. "Here this will help you" I say placing an oran berry beside it. "Take care of yourself" I tell him before leaving with the others.

As we find a pokemon centre, it starts to rain down hard. We run inside and I dry Electra. Misty then serves us all some warm soup and Brock is worried about the Charmander. I was about to assure him Charmander's trainer would of collected it by now. When I have a vision of Charmander out there in the rain holding a large leaf trying to protect itself from the down pour. I immediately grab my raincoat and run out of the centre with Electra on my heels.

I reach the rock and see Charmander looking weaker then before. With Spearow trying to hurt it and Electra scared them away. As I tried to think of a how I can get him to the pokemon safely. When the other two appear looking pissed and worried. Misty tells me how they meet Charmander's trainer and apparently he was abandoning Charmander. Brock wraps Charmander in his rain coat while I use my to protect his flame. We all run back to the pokemon centre and give Charmander to Nurse Joy straight away.

Now we all sit an wait praying Charmander would be ok. An hour later Nurse Joy came out of surgery and Chancy took Charmander to the recovery room. "Charmander is going to be just fine and should be completely healed by tomorrow morning" Nurse Joy assures us. "Now you said none of you were the trainer" she says and we nod our heads.

"No, it was the boy we were with arguing with before. He abandoned poor Charmander out there only. And Charmander nothing but loyal to him" Misty explains.

"The nerve of some people, I'll get into contact with Officer Jenny and alert her. A trainer like that shouldn't have pokemon" she states. "Here's your room key" she adds handing it to Brock. We thank her and then got to our room, which has two bunks beds. We all get changed, with Brock in the bathroom. Before calling it a night.

(Next morning)

Misty and I were sleeping quite happily until Brock yells that Charmander is gone. We wake up immediately and I tell Brock he probably went back to the rock. But Misty said there was nothing we could do as Charmander would never disobey it's former trainer. We pack our things and leave the centre, Brock still sad about Charmander. "Cheer up Brock, we'll be in Vermilion city soon and there's lots of pokemon there to catch" Misty says.

Electra was ahead of us enjoying the morning sun as she walked. But suddenly Brock, Misty and I fall into a pit. Team Rocket appeared in rubber suits. "Electra run!" I shout but it was to late. James fired a rubber balloon and it caught Electra. "Misty, Brock give me a leg up" I tell them.

They do so and when I get out I see Charmander blocking team rockets way. "Flame thrower!" I shout and it does so. It burns team rocket and they drop Electra before running away. "Thank you Charmander" I say smiling as the other two get out of the pit. I release Electra and she climbs onto my shoulder nuzzling my cheek.

"Hey Charmander, do you want to come with us?" Brock asks it. Just as a boy appears. "What are you doing here?" Brock demands as Misty tells me that was Charmander's former trainer.

"I came back for my powerful Charmander of course" he says smirking.

"You don't care about it, you were bragging about how weak he was and how you abandoned him" Misty snaps.

"What's wrong with dumping a weak Pokémon?" he asks us. "Besides he needed to toughen up and he did" he states.

"Trainers train their pokemon to become stronger, they don't abandon them" I tell him.

"Charmander is loyal to me" he states and throws a pokeball at Charmander. Who whacks it back with it's tail and hits the boy in the face. Charmander finally knows the boy never cared about him. Who threatens Charmander. But Electra and Charmander tag team with a flame thrower & thunder bolt attack. The kid starts to cry and runs away.

"Good decision Charmander, the offer stands by the way" I say kneeling down. "We'd be honored to have you join us on our journey. So will you come?" I ask him holding a hand out.

'I would love to join you' he replies and I smile taking out a pokeball.

"You ok if I catch him Brock?" I ask and he nods his head. "Do you want a name?" I ask Charmander, who shakes his head. Then presses the button and goes into my pokeball. "Yes, I caught a Charmander!" I cheer smiling. "Come on guys, let's continue on with our journey" I tell the others as I put the pokeball in my bag. Electra now on my shoulder all three of us continue on our way to Vermilion City.
