The Trial

A whimper escapes my mouth,
While I hold back tears,
Watching another piece of me
Crumble, break apart, float away,
Vanishing within seconds from sight
As life gushes by forcefully.
The waters are turbulent now.
They have lost their serenity.
No longer do paperboats float.
No longer do leaves swim.
Only the skeleton of dreams
And the shattered hopes linger.
Another moan escapes me low,
For I lose another piece.
And desperately cling onto sanity.
The River of life's flooded.
Pregnant with melancholy and rage.
Mother Nature only weeps now,
For we let her down.
But I tried, I did.
Only my intentions lacked fruition,
Now, my conscience is hungry
It demands to eat me.
I watch her gleeful eyes
As my fingers slip away,
And I too am lost
In the rapid waters, drowning,
Catching a breath, drowning again,
Till I surface, barely alive.
I finally reached the sea.
My conscience is satiated now.
My soul has been tempered
By life, it is pure.
I have survived the trial
And have been allowed entrance
In Mother Nature's own realm.
