The sports festival; Y/n finally had a chance to show the world what she had learned so far.
Which was?
Well, nothing.
She still had yet to learn about how to really control it, she wasn't as advanced as any of her classmates, not even Midoriya. she was extremely aware of how behind she was.
So she took the liberty and started training, sure she had to leave tomorrow, maybe she could discover a technique that she could use the entire time to put her score perfectly in the middle.
She was sitting on her bed thinking about this; how her quirk worked and well she would look online about lightning quirks but she didn't own any technology, not even a phone. Yet just as she was thinking about katsuki her door happened to open and his voice echoed through her house. it was as if he knew she needed him for something--or maybe he needed something.
"Where's your sister?" He spoke loudly, staring at Aden who was stomping on trash. "Where do you think?" katsuki furrowed his eyebrows and rolled his eyes. Y/n appeared at the top of the staircase.
"I was just thinking about you," she said, leaning over the banter. he looked up at her. "it's only been a day, can't stay away from me?"
"Yeah whatever, where's your aunt?"
"Oh--um, she's--"
"auntie was supposed to be here?" One of the little boys said. Katsuki raised an eyebrow at her.
"well she wassss but--" Y/n cut herself off. "Actually, i won't lie, I never called her."
"I'm gonna--"
"why don't you come up here and talk to me?"
"I'm on a time limit." He wasn't really, in fact he wasn't sure why he even came here. Originally it was the check on her--but he found himself carrying other motives. He began to walk up the stairs.
"You just said you were on a time limit." she said, turning to face him, he never replied and walked past her towards her room. "Where are you going?" she asked, no reply again. He walked into her room and inhaled.
"Are...you okay?"
She cocked her head to the side. "Of course, why?"
"You haven't talked about what happened that day," Y/n slowly closed the door behind her. "And that idiot has been avoiding me." he turned to face her, an angry yet concerned look on his face.
"oh well...I doubt he'd...tell you the truth." She spoke slowly now and leaned against the door with her arms crossed.
"Are you trying to kidnap me or something?" he raised an eyebrow at her, Y/n furrowed her eyebrows then laughed.
"I wish, maybe you wouldn't have to leave." She left the door and went to sit on the plain mattress stripped of covers that she had to wash. He continued to stare at her. "Oh! I just-- I meant like because there's nothing to--well not in the like obsessive way y'know? I just meant-"
"Shut up nerd, I know what you meant, you just can't get enough of me." He smiled, sitting next to her on the bed. She stared at him while he stared at the floor. "What are you looking at?" He had not taken his eyes off the wooden floor that had lost its glossy look. His hands were in his pocket, fiddling with his phone. Fiddling?
Y/n began to reach for his face, he slapped her hand away, finally taking his eyes off of the floor. "What are you doing?"
"There's an eyelash about to poke you in your eye!"
"I don't care, don't touch my face!"
"but its--"
"I don't care--" he cut himself off, blinking multiple times before covering his left eye. "See it's gotten you, hasn't it?" She sneered.
"shut up!" he rubbed his eye, Y/n grabbed his arm.
"Stop rubbing your eye! it's bad for you!"
"Get it out then!"
"Are you gonna let me or are you gonna be a baby?"
"If I get it out I'm gonna shove it down your--" Y/n grabbed his face with her hand turning his face slightly away from her. Her finger grazed the bottom of his eyes, eventually she found it as it was sliding into his eye and pulled it out.
"See?" his eyes flickered to her index finger, the small blond eyelash that he couldn't see, then they went to her. She looked back at him, her usual smile--her usual pieces of hair she could never tame grazing her face. Then something lit up inside bakugo, some type of urge--need, to just see, to just try out something and see where it lead.
He leaned forward so quickly--in a matter of seconds, his eyes weren't closed, yet, he hadn't seen her move back almost as quickly as he had moved forward, she had flipped a page back as he attempted to flip one forward and suddenly they weren't even in the same book anymore. Y/n knitted her eyebrows as his eyes went slightly wide, it was just enough to express his shock. her face, however, could show nothing but concern. his rough eyes softened as he pulled back and stood up. Y/n opened her mouth to speak but she failed to speak so miserably. He ran his fingers through his hair as he opened the door, and closed it behind him.

Y/n's only concern about training was failing at it--or perhaps she was more concerned about the unrealistic scenarios she had created in her head since Aizawa mentioned it was starting. She didn't know where to start, she had gotten into the hero course by pure luck--by losing control, now she had to fight her classmates, her opponents were no longer robots or inanimate objects, they were real people now.
Her thoughts continued to spiral as she took her shirt off inside of the girls locker room. She stared at it before she started folding it up. What's a specific word for sadness? She was thinking of Katsuki. what about fear? That was Kaminari. And trauma? Perhaps everything? She wanted to think so badly about her brothers, she would rather have to worry about her brothers but her troubling relationships were stuffing her cloudy mind with rain.
"Y/n?" Her name was called, but from where? she looked around, four girls were crowded around something.
"What's going on?" She asked, walking over to the spot with her uniform in hand. "The boys are talking about you! we can hear them through the walls!" Mina exclaimed. "Listen!"
Y/n put her ear to the cold wall.
"We're not dating you damn idiots! Stop assuming things with your small brains!"
"Looks like a couple to me."
"Me too."
"Yeah well we're not, I do things by myself! I don't need a damn girlfriend!"
"If you won't take her then I will-"
"Do you want your fucking head blown up?!" Y/n stopped listening after that, she chuckled.
"Ooh, the angry blonde has a crush on Y/n! That's so cute!" Mina said, nudging her.
"What? No he doesn't."
"He totally does." Jiro chimed in from her locker. "You don't notice him staring at you at lunch?"
"He doesn't! i-"
"Denial!" Mina screamed. "First stage of falling in love--agh I can totally see you two being a hero couple! So adorable!"
"But y'know who also has a crush on Y/n," Jiro added, Momo and Y/n nearly snapped their necks at her. "Kaminari." She continued. "I knew before he told me but he was literally always gawking at her in class."
"Wh--what?" Y/n laughed nervously. "No, I don't think-"
"She likes Kaminair!" Mina screamed even louder. "She totally does! I called it!"
"Shh!" y/n hissed through her teeth. "If we can hear them they can totally hear us--"
"Y/n likes Kaminari!! Y/n likes Kaminari!" She sang and danced across the locker room. "You two would make lightning bolt babies!" She screamed. Y/n hid her face behind her hands and sighed. She felt a cold breeze hit her chest and then realized she forgot to put her shirt on. Aizawa banged on both of the locker rooms and issued a warning.
One thing that was slightly content about her life right now was that no one asked why her abdomen and neck had been covered in bandages, even though she hadn't been in the same incident that they were in.
What was she going to do?

Y/n began her training. She was given a huge space of land, separated from everyone else to use to her heart's content. At first she was extremely hesitant, she walked around in a circle for 10 minutes thinking about some sort of strategy, nothing, in her head, would work.
Finally, she sat down with herself and drowned out all of her thoughts. The bad ones, the few good ones, all that was left was her quirk; the only things she had to focus on right now. She opened her eyes and put her hands together--each finger tip touching the other. She took a deep breath inward, and outward--various breathing techniques yet she couldn't focus any type of energy into her palm. She couldn't even bring herself to turn on her quirk at all--something was holding her back severely. something she couldn't dig deep enough to retrieve.
She desperately wanted to check on Katsuki who also had his own land, she wanted to talk to him and confide in him. But she knew he didn't want to hear it. His angry explosions made her think of him.

While she was struggling with her quirk, Katsuki was with no doubt thinking of her as well, not in the way he liked though. He was upset, not angry for once, just disheartened enough to leave her alone. He kept exploding and exploding, pushing and pushing his hands out, sweating and sweating with an angry scowl on his face. Every time he heard the impulsive sound of his blasts he would let out a scream of frustration that couldn't be heard.
Perhaps he was more upset at himself for coming on so suddenly, part of him was wondering if he had gone about it differently, would she have kissed him back? He couldn't help but replay the thought of them kissing in his head, the same one--the exact same scene he had been thinking about since last week. Though he hadn't said it to himself, but these feelings he had for her were hard as a rock, there was no simply discarding them.
If he couldn't get rid of these damned feelings weighing him down then he was going to explode things until they left his body.
"Kat," a voice said softly in between explosions. He didn't stop and prepared his next ones, his hands in front of him as he let out another one.
"Kat!" He let out another one. "Please talk to me!" And another one left his palms and it was louder. "Katsuki!" Louder and harsher. "Kat!" he hadn't noticed her getting closer to him at all, all he could hear was his blasts and her voice little in the distance. He started to prepare another explosion, his hands slowly becoming hotter by the second then--
"Ahh!" he screamed, Y/n jumped in front of him and grabbed his arms. "What's wrong with you?!"
"Please, let me talk to you." She begged. Katsuki furrowed his eyebrows and stared at her as if to say he was listening as he snatched his hands away. "I'm sorry, I really am. I--I didn't realize what you were trying to do yesterday. i really didn't! I just--don't want you to be upset with me. Can we--Can I get a re-do?" She reached for his face but he took her hand and gave it back to her. "It's fine if you don't like me, I'm not fucking upset, but I'm not gonna sit around and wait for you to decide who you want to be with. I don't think it's gonna work anyway."
Y/n did that awkward chuckle--the same one she did when she was about to cry. "Ahah, wh-what do you mean? Are you...are you saying no? You don't..." Her voice trailed off as tears glossed her eyes. Each of her questions--answered with his expression. "Katsuki." her quavering voice was a stab to the heart. He looked away, his face deadpanned.
There was a deep feeling of regret rising in him, she turned and walked away, her hand over her mouth as tears spilled down her face. He turned around to look at her, she didn't look back, she was walking quickly away, her hands still over her mouth and when she turned to exit, he saw tears flying down her face as she ran away, fading into the trees.
