starlight
SHIP — Daniela x Sophia
Written by, Fufu830
It was a warm summer evening, and the night sky was alive with stars. Daniela and Sophia lay on a soft blanket spread across the grass in the quiet meadow behind Daniela's house. The crickets sang their evening song, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves of nearby trees, but other than that, the world felt still, as though it, too, was watching the stars with them.
"Look, there's Orion," Daniela said, pointing to the constellation above them. "I can always spot him. It's like he's my old friend in the sky."
Sophia followed her gaze and smiled. "I see him! But I always mix him up with someone else. I'm not as good at this as you are."
"That's okay," Daniela replied, her voice gentle. "It just takes practice. And anyway, we're not in a rush. We have all night."
Sophia turned her head to look at her friend. She admired how calm Daniela seemed, always at ease with the world around her. It was one of the reasons they were such good friends—Daniela's quiet confidence was the perfect balance to Sophia's more anxious nature.
The two of them lay side by side, their hands resting on their stomachs, the soft light of the stars flickering above them. A shooting star streaked across the sky, so fast that it almost seemed like a dream.
"Did you see that?" Sophia whispered in awe.
"Yeah, I did," Daniela said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Make a wish."
Sophia closed her eyes for a moment, her mind drifting to the small hopes she carried in her heart. Then, with a small smile, she opened her eyes and looked at Daniela. "What did you wish for?"
Daniela thought for a moment, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "I wished for more nights like this one. Just us, stargazing, and feeling like the world is so much bigger than us, but also somehow... just right."
Sophia blinked, feeling her chest swell with warmth at Daniela's words. "That's a good wish," she said softly. "I think I might've wished for the same thing."
They lay there in silence for a while, simply enjoying the vastness of the night. The stars above seemed to stretch on forever, a reminder that life, too, was full of endless possibilities, if they only dared to dream.
Sophia turned to Daniela. "Do you ever think about how small we are, compared to all of this?" she asked, her voice a little more thoughtful.
"All the time," Daniela replied, her voice a little distant now, as if lost in the beauty of the moment. "But you know, I think that makes us special. We're small, but we can still make our mark in ways we don't even realize. The stars are huge, but they're still just little sparks in the sky."
Sophia nodded, taking in her words. She felt comforted by the idea that even in the grand scheme of things, they still had meaning, still had moments like this one—simple, perfect, and entirely their own.
"You're right," Sophia said, smiling at her friend. "Maybe we're like those sparks, too. Even if no one else notices, we're still here, shining in our own way."
The two friends turned their gazes back to the sky, watching as another shooting star passed, followed by a soft silence. The night stretched on, and the stars twinkled above them as they shared that quiet, understanding bond—two souls in tune with the universe, grateful for the moment they were living, together.
As the hours passed and the night grew deeper, they eventually sat up, wrapping themselves in blankets, knowing that although the stars might fade with dawn, their friendship, like the night sky, would always be there—endless and ever bright.
