Kuroo despised this time of year after being dumped by the one girl he'd ever truly loved. So, couples posting engagements, date night and just general lovey-dovey Christmas fun rubbed him the wrong way. Thankfully for him, Bokuto's parties at this time of year tended to be a volleyball meet up for the Tokyo teams, not that they'd all moved onto uni.

However, from what Akaashi had informed the previous Nekoma captain was that Bokuto had invited all the old top players and teams from the golden days. That meant there could well be some lovey-dovey couples coming to the party and that wasn't something he could deal with. To say he was pleasantly surprised when a lot of the people at the party had come minus their partners or were still very single.

A couple of the guys were now lovers from what he'd heard but couldn't remember all of them. The one he knew well was Daichi and Sugawara, which in all honesty didn't surprise him. They were the mum and dad of the Karasuno team at one point. Kuroo always thought that the two guys would make a super cute couple and would be amazing parents one day. That's why seeing the two of them kiss didn't surprise him.

Yet, looking at that happy couple made the 6ft 2" middle blocker miss his 5ft 2" ex. The girl he'd given his heart and soul to, but it was thrown in his face. Sure, at the time they were just finishing school and going to Uni and they had so much of his life left to pop the question, he did it at graduation. Only to be told that even though she loved him that was too fast after dating since 15, he didn't think so.

Alas, after finally getting to a level of being over the heartbreak the handsome man played the field. Ignoring his heart that hurt whenever he was with anyone else, it only ever wanted the ungrateful bitch that turned down his proposal 3 years ago. Whenever her number popped up in the first month or so, he decided to ignore her. Whenever a message came through, he deleted it without even checking it, and then blocked her on all forms of social media. The last one he regretted, wanting to see exactly what the woman plaguing his dreams and holding his heart was up to.

No doubt no good as she'd always been a mischievous little kitten in his eyes. Not afraid to dig her claws in to stick up for someone who was in need or if she felt something was unjust.

"Kuroo my man...what you staring at?" Bokuto's voice cut through the envious stare he was portraying at the happy gay couple. Wishing that he had someone who looked at him the way Suga looked at Dachi or the way Tanaka looked at the woman Kiyoko. Blinking a couple of times, he laughed nervously, gazing at Bokuto and Akaashi standing there.

"Ah just thinkin' 'bout how this is a sausage fest," he shrugged, Bokuto nodded in agreement though. Akaashi just shrugged, of course, he was pining for Okimi who's left a few hours ago to see her boyfriend. Kuroo and Bokuto weren't aware of that though.

"Did I hear sausage fest?" Yukie popped her head up out of nowhere, making the three tall men jump.

"Shit! Where'd you pop up from?" Bokuto squealed but it made the woman laugh as did the others with her. It was the other previous volleyball managers Kaori, Yachi, Eri and Mako. A few other women were stood with partners but did not really leave their sides. Terrified of all the giants in the house.

"Ermm we were stood here the whole-time airhead...Anyways. I can invite some ladies if you like. I know one that doesn't live that far plus she has at least two roomies that would most like come?" smirking, Kuroo noticed something devious in the way she glanced at him but then instantly away again.

"Ohhh yeahh!" Bokuto fist-pumped at the girls, everyone turning to look at the excited man.

"I know some too," Mako commented. "I'll drop her a message," smiling the girls went off giggling as the trio watched joined by Tsukishima and Yamaguchi. Yukie turned, winked at Kuroo before turning back to her phone and calling someone.

"If I wouldn't know better, I would say there is something suspicious going on?" Tsukishima suggested, the rest of the group nodding but clearly not fussed if it meant more girls would be arriving.

Yukie popped outside after speaking to the host and his merry men, calling an old friend Kaylea with who she was well overdue, a girl's night out with. As the phone rang, the woman hopped from foot to foot to keep warm as the snow fell. Not waiting too long the other end of the line was picked up.

"Hey Yukie, how are you?" Kaylea's sweet and kind voice came through the speaker, but it was clear there was a curiosity as to why she was receiving a call tonight on Christmas Eve, Eve.

"Hey hun, I'm good how are you doin'?" the woman queried, generally happy to hear the voice of the other.

"Can't complain. You know how it is...busy studying for finals, busy working and busy being a single bitch and goin' on dates with guys that want one thing and really aren't that good at it," she snarked, clearly not enjoying the single life.

Laughing Yukie knew exactly what could even cheer up or possibly upset the woman further but wasn't going to ruin the surprise.

"Soo. A friend of mine is having a party not far from your apartment and it's a total sausage fest," Yukie admitted, not lying but also not happy at the lack of female presence. This caught Kaylea's attention, sitting up straight on the bed where she was currently delving into a tub of ice cream watching chick flicks and trying not to say that true love is bullshit. Mostly because once upon a time she'd had it and threw it back in the guy's face. "What ya say? Please...you don't need to bring anything but yourself, plus anyone you may know," it was clear that Yukie was desperate for female company, and it would be better than sitting around and eating shit and watching happiness.

"Sure. I'll round up the girls. See you in 'bout an hour," with that, Yukie squealed in excitement, saying her goodbye and heading back in the warmth of the house. Kaylea went to work on her housemates, Kaysha was extremely easy to get on board with the words should be some single guys there, but Ariel was a little harder but of course, Kaylea and Kaysha managed to convince the gamer.

Before they knew it, they were on their way to the party, clearly getting there after some scene but as soon as Kaylea called Yukie before hanging up and running to where she now saw the woman standing. Embracing her friend after nearly slipping and breaking her ankle on the icy path in her heels.

'Why did I dress up in such cold clothes,' Kaylea thought praying that inside would be warm. Going for a little black dress with some sparkly heels and although a thick coat and scarf covered the top half, the bottom half was an ice pop. Somehow, she'd persuaded the other two girls to wear dresses, so Kaylea knew she wasn't suffering alone, and it appeared that her friend Yukie also wore a dress.

"Let's get inside before my legs drop off," groaning, it made Yukie laugh.

"Sure, I'll introduce you to the main gang, but you'll meet a ton of people. They all know each other from the volleyball days," Yukie gave Kaylea a wink, which made her nervous. Yukie was up to something, she felt she would be in the middle of it.

As usual, Yukie was her charming self and introduced Kaylea and the girls to the other females at the party. "I'm so glad you came," Kiyoko the previous manager of Karasuno declared and Kaylea felt she knew the beauty, smiling as if trying to recall. "I'll show you to drinks. Bokuto saved no expense," the woman added, Kaylea noticing that she could see that Ariel definitely wanted to escape.

"Where is our host? We did bring drinks," Kaysha smirked wanting to know who she had to thank if they so wanted her to. It was obvious why Kaysha wanted to know the host, Kaylea glanced at Ariel as they both rolled their eyes.

"That would be the airhead over there," Yukie snorted before she called out to the guy, "Bokuto, my friend is here with her friends!" the reddish brown-haired woman hollered. That was enough to make practically everyone in the room turn. Kaylea glanced over but as soon as she did her ice blue eyes widened as they locked onto hazel eyes staring straight into them. It was as of the word had temporarily stopped and so had her breath before she quickly looked away, her cheeks a rosy red.

Kaylea hadn't heard Bokuto introduce himself and ask for their names, but before her friends answered, he spoke.

"Well, that little red-haired hottie is Kaylea," Kuroo's voice was like honey but there was a pain in it when he said her name like he'd not said it in a long time. Surely, he was being sarcastic by saying she was hot. She'd ripped his heart out, stepped on it and when she realised that she'd overreacted and tried to makeup, he wouldn't pick up. In her mind, it showed that he was never truly honest that he wanted her. It had come so out of the blue, that surely, he should have understood that it felt too soon.

"Kuroo, been a while," Her voice deceived her, holding more anguish in it than she originally wanted it to.

"Yeh, it has, hasn't," he retorted like it was just them two in the room, but it was clear their dirty laundry was being shown in public. Especially, when the two overheard Kaysha trying to be quiet as she tried to confirm something with Ariel.

"Hey, Ariel...you don't think that's the ex... Mr biggest dick and she isn't happy with anyone else do ya?" The mousey brunette commented, instantly regretting it from the look in Kaylea's fiery eyes. The promise of murder was in the air and thankfully for Kaysha, Ariel's protective instinct kicked in.

"Nice to meet you. If you could point us in drinks. Be awesome! The walk has made us thirsty," Ariel interjected, but Kaylea wouldn't look up, knowing that Ariel would her to safety.

"Sure, thing babe, through there," Bokuto sounded annoyed that the three of them wouldn't be staying to chat to him, but Kaylea knew that Kuroo would no doubt be filling the man in.

"Thank you. We will have to chat again later." Ariel promised, whilst she gripped Kaylea and Kaysha wrists. They both allowed the curvy purple-haired woman to drag them away, Kaysha because she could tell that the two women were uncomfortable. However, even though she was being dragged away, her blue eyes glistened as she glanced back to Kuroo who watched her be dragged away from him.

"Tequila?" two male voices caught her attention at their new location, glancing she saw, what must be twins. Kaysha and Ariel responded but at the moment Kaylea couldn't find her words, instead of letting the shot burn her throat as they went down.

'I can't be much fun,' she thought keeping herself in a position to gaze over at the man with messy bed hair. Only when Kuroo vanished, most likely to the bathroom did Kaylea feel she could open and talk.

Turning to Kaysha, and the twins after Ariel had excused herself to the bathroom, (Aka to find a place to game.)

"Sorry, I feel that I've not been with it," Smiling she held her hand out to the twins, "I'm Kaylea. It's a pleasure to meet you," her tone was flirty, but Kaysha noticed it lacked the usual lustre it had when trying flirt. It was clear there was only one person getting the red head's attention and he was currently nowhere to be seen.

"We should mingle," Kaysha smirked, Kaylea and the twins agreeing as they got a drink and headed further into the house.
