Kathy noticed you had become distant 
You barely spent time with her anymore, and it felt like a stab to her heart 

She knew it was normal for teenagers to become independent and you were probably setting boundaries 

But there was a small voice that told her something wasn't right, and she wasn't going to sit around until something bad happened 

For the next few weeks, she kept an eye on you, she tried her best to not pry into your personal life too much but she couldn't help it 

She may or may not have listened to a conversation you were having with a friend on your phone, SHE WAS JUST PASSING BY WHEN SHE HEARD IT SHE PROMISES!

The way you talked to this 'friend' of yours made her question something 

Friends sometimes call their friends 'babe' and other pet names, right?

At the dinner table, she noticed you were shifting a lot, but she realized that was because she kept staring at you weirdly 

She sighed as she placed another dirty dish into the dishwasher and turned to you

"Y/n, you know you can talk to me about anything right?"

You turned to your mother 

"Yeah, I know"

When she saw you fidgeting with your fingers she knew she had to say something 

"Y/n?" Kathy gently asked 

You nodded in response 

Kathy opened her mouth only for no words to come out 

She didn't know what to say, 'I invaded your privacy because I don't trust you'?
She didn't need to think about it to know it was a bad idea 

Instead of saying anything, she decided to hug you 

Doubts flooded her mind 
'What if you didn't want to be touched right now?'
'Should she have taken a different approach to this?'

She gasped as you slowly wrapped your arms around her 

"Do you want to talk about it?"
She softly asked as she gently rubbed your back

You broke down and told her everything, from your sexuality to your lover 

She guided you both toward the sofa while listening to you ramble 

"Why didn't you tell me earlier? You know I would support you"

Even though Kathy knew it could be hard for people to come out, especially their to parents, she didn't know why you were so scared to tell her 

You know your mother supports the LGBTQ community but there was still this fear, this small fear that she would turn on you, that she wouldn't accept you 

You decided that you didn't want to tell her about your fear so you kept your head down 

"I don't know why you didn't tell me sooner but I'm glad you did now, and I don't care what anyone says, you're perfect"

She whispered, you didn't meet her eyes but you could tell she was crying 

"Thank you" You whispered as you hugged her 

"So, When am I going to meet this 'friend' of yours?" Kathy chuckled as you buried your face in her stomach out of embarrassment 

You didn't realize you revealed that you had a lover while you were ranting and were surprised she had a positive reaction to them 

"I'll ask them if they want to come over" You replied 

"I can't wait to meet them" Kathy smiled as she looked down at you, she had finally gotten her baby back and she hoped she could keep it that way
