(Angel's POV)

The police released me from questioning about last nights events just a few hours ago. I haven't left Kate's side since. She only woke once to eat then she was out again. Suddenly she let out a small groan, then she lifted her hand to her head in pain.

"You okay?" I ask her concern clear in my voice.

"Never better." she replies sarcastically. I roll my eyes at her while Bulbasaur and Sweetie Pie snuggle closer to her. "So what happened to that kid?" she asked me. She's trying to be brave but the fear is there, in her voice and her eyes.

"The cops were originally going to place him under house arrest with two weeks of community service but........"

"Angel? What did you do?"

"Well I kinda sorta said he'd travel with me so I could keep him out if trouble."

"WHAT?!?!?!?!??" she screeched at me, "I nearly died because of that dude! Now your letting him travel with you? Not on my watch! If he's going with you then so am I!"

Kate may get a little annoying but she sure is a great friend. "Yes!" I yell jumping out of my chair, "Just imagine all the cool adventures we'll have!"

She gives me a small smile before a doctor comes into the room, clipboard in hand. "I'm afraid I have to ask you to leave miss........"

"Angel. Just call me Angel."

"Alright Angel. As you know Kate here needs her rest."

"Yes of course!" I turn to leave but before I shut the door I here Kate say, "This won't take long, will it? I have a gym match ya know!"

Typical Kate.

(Kate's POV)

The doctor basically asked me questions on how I was feeling, checking my vitals and all that. I just needed to get out of here.

"Would you like me to call your parents Kate?" the doctor asked interrupting my thoughts.

"Uhhh.... No thanks I'd rather not worry them over nothing."

"Alright then you get some rest now."

"Wait! When can I leave?" I ask before he reaches the door.

"Two to three days." and then he's gone. I can't wait that long! I have my match against Brock today! I have to find away out! I search around the room for anything to use for my escape. Both of my Pokémon had left with Angel but at least the doctor had unplugged me from all the cords and medical instruments.

I let out a sigh. My room is on the third floor so the windows a no go. I'm pretty sure I heard the doctor lock the door behind him to.

With nothing to do it doesn't take long for me to drift into a dreamless sleep.

I wake up to Angel poking my ribs.

"Owww Angel! Stop!" I whine still half asleep.

"Okay! If you want to miss your gym battle that's fine by me!"

"Wait!" I called after her, jumping out of the bed so fast it made my head spin.

"Thought so." she said with a smirk down at Bulbasaur. I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was 12:47.

"But Angel the gym doesn't open for like another 30 minutes!!"

"I know I thought we could do a little shopping first. You know, get you a badge case."

"But I thought the doctors said I couldn't leave for two days?"

"I may or may not have borrowed some guys Alakazam...." she said sheepishly.

"Ya know, for someone named Angel you sure are evil."

We both laughed. She handed me some fresh clothes and I went into the bathroom to change. Once I was done we walked out past the front desk. The doctors, nurses, and receptionists were all staring strait ahead. There eyes were filled with swirls. There was an Alakazam standing next to a boy with curly red hair and freckles.

"Thanks Thomas!" Angel shouted as we exited. Outside tied to a parking meter, desperately trying to escape, was Nial. I could feel the color drain from my face but I wouldn't show fear. Not for the likes of him. Angel walked over and untied his "leash".

"Come on boy we're going shopping!"

She said with a little to much enthusiasm.

"Typical girls." he muttered under his breath. I stifled a laugh and we made our way to the shop, Angel in the lead. We found the shop in a little under 12 minutes. It was a bright pink building made of bricks, wedged in between a coffee shop and a book store. The windows held displays from running shoes to necklaces. The sky blue door had a very colorful open sign on it.

I opened the rather childish door and heard bells ringing overhead. A women with blue hair sat behind the counter, she had a sweet smile on her lipstick smothered mouth. She wore a bright green sundress covered in Glameows. Large silver hoop earings and a choker collar made out of a blue ribbon completed her outgoing look.

"Can I help you with anything?" she asked in a sugary sweet voice. I shook my head in response and walked over to a rack of badge cases.

"When you said shopping this wasn't what I had in mind...." Nial whispered.

"Your not buying anything anyway!" Angel told him, giving him a hard tug on the rope.

I spun the rack in circles inspecting each case until my eyes settled on a purple one. I pulled it off and inspected the tag.

I pulled out the money and laid it on the counter while she scanned it. Once I paid for it we hurried out of the shop and ran to the gym.

"That place was creepy!" I panted. Before Angel could reply Brock emerged from the large doors.

"Kate I've been waiting for you!" He glanced at Nial and Angel with concern.

"He tried to steal my badge." Angel said with a shrug.

"Remind me never to get on your bad side..." Brock told her as he backed away.

"Lets get to that gym battle then shall we?"

5 minutes later

"Call out your first Pokémon." Brock told me.

"Go! Sweetie Pie!" I shouted as I threw her pokéball into the air, catching it again once she was out.

"Go! Geodude!" Brock called as his rock/ground type Pokémon jumped out of its ball.

"Sweetie pie! Use string shot!" The string encased Geodude but it immediately broke free.

"Geodude! Use tackle!"

"Quick Sweetie Pie use dig!" Sweetie Pie barely managed to escape. I knew she was busy making a network of tunnels under the field. Geodude and Brock were searching frantically for movement. "Sweetie Pie! Jump out and use iron tail!"

A few moments later Sweetie Pie jumped up underneath Geodude, swinging around to hit her gleaming tail across its face.

"Alright! Go Sweetie Pie!!"

"Geodude! Use tackle!" Geodude began to hurtle towards her. He moved at Sweetie Pie so hard and fast I didn't have time to react. Sweetie Pie went flying backwards.

"Sweetie Pie, dive back into your tunnels, quick!!"

"Geodude grab Caterpie before it can get away!"

Geodude went flying after Sweetie Pie but she was to fast and safely made it back underground.

"Geodude, pound the ground until you find her!!!"

"Sweetie Pie, dig deeper!!" I shout over the noise. This is my first real battle and I'm determined to make a good impression. The whole battle field was demolished now. Geodude was panting heavily and Sweetie Pie was no where to be seen.

Just as the dust cleared Geodudes eyes closed and he fell into the midst of the rubble. He had fainted from exhaustion.

"I'm sure you would love to meet, Onix!" Brock shouted as he threw his pokéball into the air, releasing its contents, a ginormous Onix. "Onix, slam your tail on the ground to clear the rocks!". The huge Pokémon lifted its tail and smashed it onto what was left of the ground, causing all the stones and fragments of rock to be swept into the air. Once in the air, Onix used his tail to sweep the rocks to the side, exposing the network of broken and smashed tunnels, but Sweetie Pie was nowhere in sight.

'Caterpie!' That's all the warning Onix had before Sweetie Pie popped out out of a whole in the ground landing a mighty iron tail onto Onix's face. Onix reared in anger, letting out a fierce roar.

"Onix, use bind!". Sweetie Pie was caught in its tail in the blink of an eye. Onix squeezed tighter and tighter until finally, the little green Pokémon went limp.

"Sweetie Pie! Return!" I glanced down at Bulbasaur, "You're up!".

'Bulba, Bulbasaur!'

Bulbasaur lept onto the demolished battle field.

"Bulbasaur, use vine whip!" Bulbasaur lashed out his vines, and they hit their mark, but Bulbasaur quickly retrackded them in pain.

Brock laughed at our failed attempt. "Did you really think your vines could hurt Onix?" he snorted. "Bind! Again!"

Onix swept his tail at Bulbasaur but I had a plan. "Bulbasaur, jump and climb onto his back!" Bulbasaur carried out the command flawlessly. Onix let out a loud roar as he struggled to fling my little blueish green Pokémon off his back.

"Onix, screech!" With those two words Onix let out the loudest screech I will probably ever hear. Bulbasaur looked momentarily stunned but didn't fall off like Brock had hoped.

"Alright Bulbasaur!" I cheered, "Use razor leaf for as long as you can!" My little friend let out the onslaught of razor sharp leaves. Onix roared in pain as the leaves began to affect him.

"Onix, Screech, again!" but it was too late. Bulbasaur had located a soft spot on Onix's back, stunning him and causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.

"Onix has fainted!" the referee boomed. "The winners are Kate and her Bulbasaur!"

I jumped in the air and cheered. Even if it wasn't the epic battle I had expected, a win was a win. Brock walked up to me and held out his closed palm. I held out my own hand as he placed my shiny new badge in it.

"Congratulations, Kate! Take this badge as a sign of your victory here at the Pewter city gym!"

"Thanks for the awesome battle Brock! Even if I won out of pure luck."

"Nonsense! I'm sure your Bulbasaur knew exactly what he was doing!"

I glanced down at Bulbasaur who was beaming with pride. I picked up my badge with my thumb and index finger. The bolder shaped metal glinted in the dusty light.

My first battle.

My first win.

It feels like forever since I updated!!!! New rule for Pokemon: They can know more than 4 rules. It seems silly that Pokemon can only learn 4 moves at a time. I mean like do they have amnesia? In other news Sweetie Pie is now level 6 on a count of I learned they evolve at level 7 and level 10, so yeah......
