Chapter 15: The Party
~Your POV~
I hadn't left the house the past couple of days, giving the cuts time to heal while also calling my party planners. I placed a couple of orders, had Flame and Breeze help with setting up in the hideout since I couldn't be there, and everything in between. I placed one of my flip phones down, yawning a little. I walked out of my lounge back up just as the door bell rung. I hummed a little peeking out the peep hole. I opened the door with a smile and signed for my package. "Thank you." I said, taking the box. I closed the door and set the package down on the table. "What's that?" Karma questioned, standing at the stairs. I shot him a smirk. "Ah, just the detective I wanted to see." I chirped in a cheerful tone. He sighed. "I know that tone. What are you up to?" He questioned. I pouted a little. "Aw. I'm not up to anything at all! I'm just throwing a party, that's all." I explained. He raised an eyebrow. "Okay. I'll bite. What kind of party?" He questioned. "Just a party in general. I throw a lot of them for no reason. Part of the charm of my leadership. It helps boost people's spirits in the Organization and it helps attract new members when the long time members bring in guests." I stated simply, a smirk creeping onto my face. Karma facepalmed. "I knew something was suspicious about this. So that's how you trick people into your Organization." He grumbled. "Trick is such a mean word detective. Besides we're only allowed to bring in people whom we're confident would be of help to us in some way or the other. It doesn't happen as often as you think it does. Another reason the parties are so frequent." I explained. Karma sighed again. "Alright. I'm following. But what's in the box?" I asked. "Ah that." I chirped with a smirk. I grabbed the box and tossed it into his arms. "Get changed. You're coming with me." I stated. "WHAT!?" He shouted. "Oh hell no! I'm not going anywhere with you! Especially to a party you're throwing!" He protested. "You don't have a choice in the matter. I'm not leaving you here alone with my stuff for more than five hours. You're coming whether you like it or not. Besides, you've seemed way too uptight lately. This'll be fun. Relax a little. I may be a murderer, but so are you. You'll fit right in with everyone else." I said dismissively. "I'm not getting out of this am I?" He questioned while sweat dropping. "Nope." I responded with a smirk. Karma growled low under his breath. "Fine. But only because I'm being forced." He hissed. I clapped my hands together. "Great! Now go and try that on! I want to make sure it fits incase I need to make last minute fixes." I chirped. "You are way too happy about this." He grumbled before walking up stairs to change. I chuckled a little when he was out of view. "Ah, he probably hates me right now. Anti-social much?" I questioned. Karma walked down a few minutes later. I smirked. "Suit looks good on you. I had a feeling red and black were your colors." I said. Karma had a red dress shirt under a black tail coat suit with black dress pants and shoes. He held the black tie and the masquerade mask in his hand. I titled my head to the side with a small smile. "Ne, you didn't put on the tie?" I questioned. He gave me a look. "It's...a habit. I don't exactly like ties, mostly because they can be used to choke a person. Hence why I never wore one back in Jr. High. It was an assassination classroom. I made it a habit of not giving anyone any kind of way to kill me. Even if the target was our teacher and not eachother." He explained. I snickered a little, walking over. I took the tie from his hand. "So paranoid." I mumbled. I tied his tie for him with a small smile. "No one is going to try and kill you at the party while I'm around, and..." I trailed off removing my hands to reveal a pure white pin I put on him. "As long as you have that on." I added. He gave me a look before looking at the pin in what I assume was confusion. I smirked a little before drawing attention to the pin I was wearing. "In the Organization we each wear pins to signify where we stand in rank and what division we're from remember? I think I explained this a while back. Pure white pins are guest pins. So no matter who you are, as long as you stick around me everyone will just assume you're my guest. The only one's who might question it will be the leaders of the different divisions. But they already know I'm bringing you." I explained. Karma nodded. "Smart system I suppose. But what if someone just steals a pin to infiltrate?" He questioned. I smirked a little. "Ah, that's why only the leaders of the divisions can hand out pins. The leaders are my most trusted. And you've already met most of them. Itona, aka Silver, Leader of the Tech Division, colors purple and green. Flame, aka Dragonheart, Leader of the War Division, colors purple and black. Asano, aka Kitsune, Leader of the Spy Division, colors purple and orange. Rio, my second in command as of current time, wears all colors, but her pin is smaller than mine. Kayano kinda just switches between divisions depending on her mood, but she's registered in the Spy Division. The other leaders you haven't met yet. And each leader typically has a second in command who wears smaller versions of the leader's pin. There are eight divisions in my Organization, but those that have purple added to their colors are leaders of something." I explained. "Hm. I had a feeling that pin was important." Karma mumbled. "Smart of you to realize that ahead of time. Oh, one more thing though." He hummed a little giving me a look. I grabbed his tie and pulled him down eye level with me. "Once again, you don't have to worry about anyone in my Organization killing you. But I'm the exception alright? I want you to have fun, but that doesn't mean I'm letting my plans stop for a night. Do anything to ruin them and well..." I trailed off with a smirk, letting my eyes shimmer with bloodlust. "Don't think you'll be able to walk out without any issue." I said cheerfully. He glared at me, eyes flashed with bloodlust in return. "Yeah, I got that much a*shole." He growled in return. I released him and fixed his tie. "Glad you see things my way." I chirped cheerfully. I quickly turned my back to him. "The party is tonight so be prepared." I stated. Karma hummed in agreement before running back upstairs.
~Time Skip~
I untied the blindfold from around Karma's eyes before tossing the mask back at him. "Put that on and lets go." I said. He nodded, not having the energy to argue with me. He slipped the mask on his face before fiddling with his gloves a little. Nervous huh? I thought, turning and walking into the warehouse. Karma followed soon after me. I noticed Breeze hidden in a shadowy corner right away, her glowing blue eyes easily noticeable. I stopped to look at her. "Hey Demon. Not down at the party huh?" I questioned. She sighed a little, stepping out of the shadows. "You know me. If Dragonheart isn't being anti-social I am." She said. Karma gave her a look as she smirked at him. "Ah right. The new addition to the Metaverse Team." She said. Karma's eyes quickly found the solid blue pin she wore with the purple center, giving it a confused look. I smirked. "Right. I never did explain the other colors. This is codename Demon. She's the leader of our Security Division. Colors, as you can see are purple and blue." I explained. I froze for a second before glaring at Breeze. "Alright, what's the actual reason you left the party? Typically you'd have Eclipse up here on guard." I growled. She avoided eye contact. "Well, um...Dragonheart may or may not have brought in a...guest...One that I'm not sure any of us were really prepared for. And someone spiked the drinks already. Pretty sure whatever they spiked it with was strong. People were already drunk when I left." Breeze explained. A tick mark formed on my forehead as I slowly breathed in and out. "It hasn't even...been...five....F*CKING MINUTES, since this party started. What. The. Actual. Flying. F*ck?" I questioned. Karma snickered behind me. "SHUT IT DETECTIVE!" I spat. Breeze flinched a little. "I dunno what happened!" She whined. "The party had just gotten started when next thing I know people are already playing beer pong and strip poker with flushed faces!" Breeze explained. "Oh my God." I mumbled, crossing my arms with a disappointed sigh. "Wow. Some Organization you've got here for someone to have already spiked the punch." Karma said. I shot him a glare before pulling out my new switchblade and pointing it at him. "I will f*cking cut you." I hissed, already annoyed. "Like you haven't done that before. How's your shoulder doing by the way?" He questioned with a smirk. "....You son of a b*tch." I growled. "Correction...I am a b*tch." Karma said. I breathed in deeply. Then slowly exhaled. "Okay. I get it. You're not happy to be here. But d*mn do you have to choose now to be a condescending sarcastic a*shole?" I questioned. "Yes. Yes I do." He responded. I was this close, I swear, this f*cking close, to banging my head into the wall. I put the knife away with a sigh before turning back to Breeze. "Any ideas on who spiked the drinks? And what drinks are spiked?" I questioned. Breeze shrugged. "No clue. Avoid anything that normally contains alcohol and give anything you're about to drink an extra sniff or two. That's my only advice. Oh! And it goes without saying. But don't trust anything my sister, her guest, or Topaz gives you." Breeze said. I nodded, Karma giving her a confused look. I grabbed his wrist. "C'mon let's go." I said. "Oh Joker. One thing before you head in there." Breeze added quickly. I gave her a look. "That would be?" I questioned. She smirked. "Everyone was wondering when you were going to sing for us again." Breeze said. My face exploded red as I let out a small hiss. "Aw. You're like an embarrassed kitten, how cute. And I thought Dragonheart was adorable." Breeze said cheerfully. "I'm going to tell her you said that." I deadpanned with a smirk. Fear crept across her face as I opened the passage way into the underground caverns. The loud music assaulted my eardrums the moment I opened the passage. "WAIT! DON'T TELL HER! SHE'LL LEGIT KILL ME THIS TIME!" Breeze shouted after me. "Nah. Imma tell her." I said before pulling Karma into the passage and closing it behind us. Once the door was closed I felt hot breath next to my ear. "So you sing?" Karma questioned.
I jumped back nearly smacking him. "Do NOT get that close to me when I'm armed d*mnit!" I hissed, still red faced. His face held nothing but a curious look. Even under the mask I could tell. I sighed a little, calming myself down. "Sorry. I'm a little more jumpy around here in the Organization because of all the pranks and psychotic break downs that happen. So seriously, don't do that again. My reflexes are ten times sharper in here than they are at home or on the streets." I explained. I began walking down the passage, Karma following at my side. "It doesn't really make sense why you'd be more cautious with your own Organization." He pointed out. I sighed. "Be that as it may, everyone in this Organization is a little bit insane. Not as far in the deep end as I am mind you. But they've all drowned on different levels of insanity. I'm just so far in the water that no one has dared follow me that low. Not even Asano or Rio. Of course there's a possibility of Flame and a couple others being as far in as me. I wouldn't know. I never really see them go insane. They tend to keep a lid on it." I explained. "And while normal people make me feel outcast and alone, I always feel a little more sane in the company of those that have gone crazy. Even if knowing I'm literally the most insane of the insane." I continued. "Why do you use drowning as symbolism for insanity? Don't get me wrong it makes sense. But where did you originally get the feeling that it was like drowning?" Karma questioned. I hummed a little closing my eyes. "When I was younger I guess I always stared into the deep end. I was on the edge of it for the longest time. Curious, but also afraid. My resolve was strong. I never wanted to be insane. I never wanted to hurt another. The feeling of drowning came after I snapped and well...my first kill happened. It was at that moment I accidentally tripped into the deep end. After that it started pulling me down. I describe it as drowning because it felt like my air was being pushed out of my lungs. It felt like I couldn't breathe. It just...I kept fighting it. I tried so d*mn hard to pull myself back to the surface. The fear of what might lurk down below, and of what I might become, fueling my actions. But....I lost that battle. I was just...tired. Tired of being hated. Tired of being looked down on. Tired of every little thing getting to me. Tired of feeling helpless. Tired of the self doubt. And tired of my own mind constantly being tricked. I never wanted to go insane. I think I've told you that before. I had just sunk so far into it, had lost all feeling in my body, was just so tired of fighting it at that point, I just gave in." I explained. I hugged myself a little, shadow covering my eyes. "As you can probably guess now, it was a slow burn. Me going insane took a while. Because of how hard I fought it. And by the time hands reached in to try and save me, I had already lost it. I ignored those hands. Because now, instead of seeing an enemy surrounding me on all sides, I felt like I was caught in the warm embrace of a friend. But still..." I trailed off a little, hugging myself a little tighter. "It's my personal belief that everyone is a little insane. And that all anyone needs is a push or two to fall into the ocean of madness that I fell into. Whether or not they land gracefully is all up to them. If they want to fight it like I did well, that's on them. It's pointless in the end but God knows, let them try. But it's impossible. The moment you fall, even by pure accident, there's no escaping it. But that doesn't make it any less terrifying." I stared at the ground a little before coming to a complete stop. "The fear of drowning is a primal one. Humans have, for a long time, died by water. It's a hopeless feeling at times. To try and fight it. Even now, even though I enjoy my insanity, I can still remember how powerless I felt in the fall. I still remember how weak it made me feel as the insanity slowly but surely replaced all the air in my body as I continued sinking. It was slow. It was agonizing. I was so afraid of what might happen to me. And of what I might've found deep in the ocean of madness." I said.
I looked up at Karma with a smirk, eyes swirling with insanity. "Which is why I make it a point to help people drown quickly and not go through the same thing I did. Which I guess is why I find my little ability so useful. It can help me drown someone so fast if I use it at a 100%!" I chirped. I grabbed his wrist and started skipping down the passage way. "Wonderful what insanity can do to a person. Sure I may have been afraid of it at first but d*mn did it feel good afterward." I said cheerfully. I couldn't read Karma's expression since I was dragging him behind me, but I could tell he tensed up a little and was lost in thought. We finally broke into the main cavern and the music and lights were all blaring and blinding. I breathed deeply calming my mind for the madness that was about to come. We walked into the party, me letting go of Karma's wrist to avoid any teasing. He stuck close behind me as I walked up to my table with the other leaders and their second in commands, minus Breeze of course. Flame greeted me and Karma with a smile. "Heyo! Now things can really get cranked up! Joker has graced us all with her almighty presence. Our Queen has returned everyone!" She said in an overly sarcastic tone, causing everyone at the table to break out in laughter, earning a chuckle from even me. "Yeah, yeah. I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times Dragonheart. I'm not a Queen. I'm the Wild Card." I said with a wink. The joke got a few to crack up, helping me identify immediately who was probably drunk. "Welp, I already know who's drunk at this table. Let's move on. Dragonheart, Demon called you cute earlier." I stated. Her face turned dark as she grit her teeth, blushing ever so slightly. "Where the f*ck is she?" Dragonheart questioned. "Upstairs. She told me you brought a guest, care for introductions?" I questioned. Asano and Itona immediately flinched back and shook their heads violently as did Void and Eclipse. Ritsu, Rio, and Kayano all shot eachother nervous looks. Light, Shadow, and Midnight all sighed and drunk down whatever shot they had, Light having a slightly more flushed face than the other two. Karma sweat dropped a little. "Who the hell did she bring?" He questioned to himself. Flame smirked before looking over her shoulder. "Ice Demon get over here!" She called. "DON'T BOSS ME AROUND I WILL CUT YOU!" A female voice responded.
A blue haired female ran over quickly, wearing a long pony tail and a similar outfit to Flame's uniform. She had a white guest pin on her outfit and a blue masquerade mask on her face. I felt Karma stiffen next to me. "S*it. Why her? Anyone but her." He mumbled under his breath. I shot him a look before the girl was standing next to Flame with a bright childish smile. "Joker, this is Ashley, or Ice Demon if you prefer. She's um...I guess you could call her my younger sister. Kinda like Breeze only we adopted her." Flame introduced. "Nice to meet you Ashley, are you enjoying yourself?" I questioned. She nodded before clinging onto Flame. "Where's my Pokey? I know you have it!" She whined. Flame sighed a little, an annoyed expression on her face. "It hasn't even been five minutes yet. Blaze you're impossible at times." She grumbled under her breath. Flame shot me a small apologetic smile. "Sorry. She acts really childish at times but she's just as skilled as me. Which is why I'm assuming Crimson back there looks absolutely terrified." She said with a smirk. I looked and noticed that yep, Karma looked absolutely terrified. The moment Ashley spotted him she gasped with a smile. "OH MY GOD!" She shouted. Karma slumped over on the table as Ashley ran over to where me and Karma were sitting. "It's been too long! Karma how have you been!? Do you finally have a girlfriend you anti-social devil? Oh My God! WHY THE F*CK ARE YOU SO TALL D*MNIT!" She shouted. Karma shot me a look. "End my suffering." He grumbled. I just laughed. Ashley stared at us for a while before smirking. "Hey, you two should kiss!" She said. We both blushed badly and shot her a glare. "NOT HAPPENING!" We both shouted. She giggled and ran back over to Flame who had her mouth hanging open in shock. "Holy s*it. My respect for you grows Ash. You were able to annoy them both with just one sentence." Flame said, handing her a box of Pokey. Ashley snickered under her breath as Asano covered a laugh. "Well I mean, they have kissed before last time I checked." He snickered. I stood up slamming my hands onto the table and glaring at him. "Kitsune you wanna f*cking go!?" I shouted. Karma just slammed his face into the table over and over again, face as red as his hair. "Not even four minutes since we sat down and teasing immediately comes. WHY!?" I shouted. Everyone just burst out laughing as I grumbled something under my breath. "By the way Joker, when are you going to sing for us again? We're all dying to know." Flame said, smirking darkly. Everyone at the table wore smirks as well. "Yeah leader! When the hell are you gonna get back up on stage?" Rio questioned. Kayano laughed a little. "You were so confident last time. You seemed really fired up!" She pointed out. Light shot everyone a look. "Wait, wait. Joker can sing?" He questioned. "That's what I was asking." Karma said, sitting up. Everyone else at the table nodded. "Right, you're still new." I said while sweat dropping. "Why do you keep forgetting I'm new?" Light questioned. We all shrugged a little. "But yeah. Joker is great at singing. She can preform while doing it too!" Shadow chimed in. Midnight chuckled a little. "Of course it seems the only reason she got on stage last time was because she lost a bet to someone. That's what I heard at least." She said. "What? No. She got caught in one of my truth or dare games and someone dared her to do it." Rio said. "I heard it was because someone was hitting on her and she wanted to get away from them." Ritsu said. Flame looked over at me. "Why did you get on stage that time?" She asked while sweat dropping. I tried thinking back to the incident but came up with nothing. I shrugged a little. "Don't remember. Probably drunk and got dared or something." I said. I sighed a little, keeping a hand firmly placed on my bag. "I'm going to get some fresh air. Be back in a bit." I said, standing up and leaving the table.
Once I arrived at the roof I took a deep breath. Admiring the night sky in all it's beauty. I sat down at the edge of the roof, letting my feet dangle over the edge like normal. I began to relax, closing my eyes and breathing in the cool and crisp night air. Perfect... I thought. I reached in my bag and pulled out my notebook and my pencil. I flipped open to the page I was currently working on and re-read my latest work. I started thinking, closing my eyes and trying to recall what my thought process was when I was writing last time. Once I was back in the zone I put pencil to paper and started writing in my slightly messy cursive handwriting. Then again, everyone thinks their handwriting is messy now that I think about it. As I began to put thoughts and feelings into words of description I began to lose track of time. I wasn't finished but I was d*mn well close to a conclusion when I heard the door to the roof open. I looked back to see Karma standing there. His eyes landed on me and he walked over, letting the door close behind him. He took off the mask with a sigh, sitting down next to me. I closed the notebook at set it off to the side. "Flame told me I might find you up here." He said. I tilted my head to the side. "Did you need something?" I questioned. He shook his head. "Just a little confused is all. You seem like the type that loves parties yet you've been gone for more than 40 minutes." Karma said. "Ah." I said, nodding a little. I let my thumb brush over my notebook. "I guess I do have a habit of staying up here. Time seems to pass so easily just sitting here. Writing, reading, watching the stars, or simply just relaxing and doing some breathing exercises." I explained, letting my eyes drift shut. I could feel Karma's gaze so I opened my eyes and smirked at him. "Even people like me can be stressed out. Sometimes I have to take a step back from all the chaos and confide in my mind's own madness." I explained. "(Y/N)..." Karma trailed off. I flinched a little since he didn't use that name with me often. "Yes?" I asked. "Why do you feel like speeding up to process of people going insane is a good thing?" He questioned. I closed my eyes and hummed a little. "Karma...keep in mind I had no one by my side when I drowned. I drowned with no one around me, no one dragged me down like I do for other people. I felt helpless and weak, alone. Pure insanity is what dragged me down. Not a person. I guess drowning others myself is more preferable because I don't want others to experience the same feeling of helplessness and loneliness that I did. Drowning by water is one thing, drowning because of another person is another thing entirely. You don't feel as helpless with another person doing it. Nor do you feel as alone. At least by my logic. Me going insane took a long time. And I can still remember how awful it felt when I realized it was pointless to keeping fighting against it. And I was all alone. No one to say it was okay, or that it would be over soon. At least with me dragging others into the deep end they don't feel nearly as helpless as I did. Or as alone." I explained. Karma was giving me this look, sympathy? Pity? One of those two I think. I shrugged it off with a smirk. "But anyways, what reason do you have to be up here? Besides wondering where I was." I said. He sighed, leaning back a little. "People kept trying to spike my drinks. Or maybe my drink was already spiked. I don't know. I was starting to get crowded and I needed to take a breather." Karma explained. I hummed a little, looking over at him. "You don't look like you're drunk, do you feel any different?" I questioned. He shrugged. "I honestly don't know. But my drink tasted a little weird so I may have a little alcohol in my system right now." He said. "Why were people trying to spike your drink?" I questioned. "No clue. Maybe for old times sake. I could pick out lots of E-class members in that crowd." Karma said. I nodded a little, putting my notebook back inside my bag along with my pencil. Karma groaned a little. "God my head hurts." He grumbled. He leaned on my good shoulder. "Mind if I borrow you for a little? Thanks." Karma said. I blushed a little but didn't say anything, seeing as how he looked exhausted. Yeah, he's a little drunk. Otherwise I don't think he'd be using my shoulder as a pillow right now. I thought. I started humming quietly while pulling out my notebook and pencil again. Since Karma was on my dominant side I switched the pencil to my other side and continued writing while humming quietly. I yawned to myself a little, getting bored. I placed the pencil in my notebook before looking over at Karma. He had his eyes closed and he seemed to be lost in thought. Either that or asleep. Why am I just realizing how fluffy his hair looks? I thought. I reached over and lightly pet his head. HOLY S*IT THAT IS SOFT! I screamed mentally. He cracked an eye open giving me a look. "Why are you petting me?" He questioned. "Cause' I'm weird and your hair is soft." I said. He just sighed a little before closing his eye again. A look of calm washed over his face, despite the small blush. I suppressed a small snicker at how cute this was. God he's like a f*cking cat so cute! I screamed mentally.
After a while I eventually noticed a small smile forming on his face and felt like I was going to explode. "God detective you're killing me over here." I grumbled while sweat dropping. He opened his eyes giving me a passive expression. "Stop that." I mumbled. He tilted his head a little before nuzzling my shoulder a little. "Annnd, with that I'm going back to the party." I said, putting my notebook and pencil away. I tried to stand up only to have Karma wrap his arms around me. "Noooo." He whined. "I don't wanna go back!" He stated. "Oh my God you're drunk." I grumbled trying to push him off me. He whined some more until I finally stopped trying to get out of his hold. "I swear, I'm going to hold this over your head for the next year if we both survive that long." I growled to myself. "I'm just tired, and I don't want to go back to the party. I'm not drunk." Karma said. "Sure. That's why you're literally whining like a four year old and acting like a clingy cat." I snapped back. He pouted a little. "Well I mean you leaned on me when we were reading together since you were tired. I'm allowed to do the same thing d*mnit." He reasoned. I opened my mouth a couple of times trying to think of a retort. I sighed a little, looking away from him. "Fine." I grumbled. I could tell he smiled at that. "By the way, what were you writing in that notebook of yours?" Karma questioned. I blushed a little. "Oh, that. Don't worry about that, it doesn't concern you." I said. He hummed quietly to himself a little before nudging me a little, getting me to look over at him. "Hey. The way you word things at times, especially when describing your insanity, you always sound...what's the word?" He questioned to himself. "Um...I guess the best way I can describe it is poetic. Have you ever written poetry before? I just get that kind of vibe from you." Karma said. I flinched a little with a small blush, my hand shooting to my bag subconsciously. "M-maybe I've dabbled in it a little bit." I admitted. Karma smirked. "I had a feeling. You should show me sometime." He said. "Hahaha, no." I deadpanned while sweat dropping. "Aw, that's a disappointment." He said with a small pout. "Hey, now I'm curious. The others always refuse to tell me stories from back in Jr. High. Tell me about a couple of things." I said. He gave me a look. "Why so curious?" He questioned. "Because everyone looks back on those years fondly and leave me out of the fun. Besides I rarely hear them talk about it. C'mon! Please!" I said. He sighed a little. "Fine, I guess I can tell you a couple of stories." He said. He closed his eyes, looking to be thinking. "Have they ever told you about my most major assassination attempt my second day in class?" He questioned. "I think it's been mentioned but no one explained what you did. Either that or they did and I don't remember it." I said. He smirked a little, opening his eyes. "To put it simply, I jumped off a cliff." He said.
My eyes widened and my mouth hung open. "You're joking." I said. "Nope. Legit, leaned back and fell off the cliff, gun in hand. Nagisa brings up the incident all the time, describing how I was completely calm about it. He really likes to bring up the face I made as I was falling." Karma said while sweat dropping. I gave him an 'explain' look. "Nagisa always refers to it as the 'Karma Is a Psycho' face, apparently I made that face a lot back in Jr. High. Nagisa can name five different incidents. Trust me I've asked him to name as many as he could. But back to the assassination. I'm pretty sure everyone's already explained what our teacher was right?" He questioned. I nodded. "Giant Yellow Flying Octopus that goes up to Mach Twenty. I've heard." I said. He snorted a little. "Best way of describing Koro-sensei, but I prefer Idiotic Octopus of The Perverted Chicken." He said. I gave him a look. "I'll explain that nickname later." He said. "So I had this idea for a while now, the cliff thing. I planned on that being my last resort assassination attempt. I didn't think I'd have to resort to it until much later in the year, however I got p*ssed at Koro-sensei because of the embarrassment I had to suffer through multiple failed assassination attempts. Keep in mind, his favorite form of retaliation was grooming." Karma grumbled, a small blush noticeable on his face. "So I decided to use it early. My logic behind it was either, he tries to save me and gets shot, or I kill his reputation because he let one of the kids die on his watch. He couldn't pluck me out of the air at Mach Twenty without severely hurting me, hurting his reputation in return. Had he moved any slower I could've shot him. It seemed like a perfectly sound plan. And it was. I got full marks for it. But then again, Koro-sensei could always pull out the most bulls*it abilities out of no where! He used his tentacles and formed a spider like web in the trees below, catching me. The tentacles were sticky and I couldn't move, to which I say, and these were my exact words, 'The hell! Is there anything this tentacles can't do!?'." Karma explained. I stared at him in wonder. "And you came up with this at what? 15!?" I shouted. He nodded, scratching the back of his neck before fiddling with his gloves a little. "Yep." He responded. "D*mn that's clever!" I said. Karma laughed. "I finished that year ranking first on the final semester finals. The hell else do you expect from the most fearsome assassin in E-class?" He questioned, pride seeping into his voice. "I thought Nagisa was the most fearsome of your class." I pointed out. He shot me a smirk. "True. He was the one to kill Koro-sensei and win the Civil War against me. But I let him win the Civil War and everyone knows it. I had the knife in my hand, I just stopped myself because he was my friend, and he tried so hard. I felt I owed it to him since he truly went the extra mile. But Nagisa was a Natural Born Assassin. I was something much more terrifying in the eyes of the others. I was a Combat Based Assassin. Nagisa was scarier to Koro-sensei because it was hard to see Nagisa coming, and because Nagisa reminded Koro-sensei of himself when he was an assassin. But when it came to the rest of the class, they were scared of me. Even Nagisa himself. Because I was the one person not afraid to go there. Nor was I scared to actually beat the s*it out of someone. I cannot count how many times I've beat the s*it out of some poor b*stered in front of my class, hell, I beat a grown professional assassin and then tortured him in front of the class. They took my sadist bag after that but it was worth it. Ah wasabi. You can never go wrong with it." Karma explained. He sighed fondly, golden gaze full of nostalgia. "A Combat Based Assassin huh? Suits you." I said.
After talking a bit more we finally went back down to the party. This time joining in a few games and having fun. Karma grew reconnected to some of his old classmates, happy to see a bunch of them. Unknown to Karma at the time I was smirking. Him coming to this party was another carefully planed move. And the scene on the roof was just a bonus. As I sipped on my red wine, watching Ashley pester Karma as he nearly stabbed her multiple times, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. Flame, sitting next to me gave me this look. "Something funny?" She questioned. I just smirked raising my glass slightly to the lights above. "Oh nothing." I said. I looked between us at the chess board I had set up at the beginning of all this madness. I rearranged the pieces a little bit with a smirk as Flame watched me with growing interest. I raised the glass to my lips, taking a small sip as I moved the black queen into position. Putting the white king in check. Surrounded on all sides by the black army.
"Just that Checkmate is close at hand."
