CHAPTER NINE.
CHAPTER NINE —
— THE REVEAL.
by James D. Martinez, Senior Staff Reporter
December 2nd, 2017
Killian Blackwell, CEO of Blackwell Corporations, bio-medical game-changer and well-recognized philanthropist, has died. He was 49.
Blackwell's body was discovered early morning on December 1st, 2017, after an anonymous tip was put through to the NYPD. It has been said that the body was discovered near the Hudson River, though a specific location was not revealed. Sources confirmed the body had been there for several hours.
The identity of said body was not publicized until late the same evening. However, speculations ran rampant across several news sites. A second anonymous source informed the internet gossip site Inspect! that Killian Blackwell was in fact dead, leading to a hasty press conference headed by NY Police Commissioner George W. Gold. Gold confirmed the tragic news to the world, stating that the body discovered 'matches clearly up to our Killian Blackwell, much as it breaks my heart to say so'.
Killian Blackwell was best known for his multi-trillion dollar biopharmaceutical company, Blackwell Corporations, established in 1906 by great-grandfather Simon Blackwell and passed through the patriarchal line. Also known by the nickname, 'Miracle Corp', the legacy of the Blackwell's company and last name has been immortalized as one of the few pillars in the pharmaceutical field working for the people. This legacy began at the very start of it all, with Simon Blackwell immortalizing his name with his creation of a cure for the 'Scourge', a swift-spreading virus that largely affected the respiratory, and could render victims dead within hours. Historians cite this virus similar to the likes of the Bubonic Plague or the Spanish Influenza; a bio-nuclear weapon, had it not been for the vaccine's creation. The vaccine was distributed for free amongst the public, stopping what could have been a massacre and cementing the Blackwell name into history.
Killian Blackwell, as well as each of his familial predecessor's, was known to push for 'impossible' cures and to fight for free public access to his vaccines and life-saving procedures - a Hail Mary rarely seen in modern America.
Going as recent as last week, Blackwell Corp's latest announcement provided the public with shocking, but hopeful, news: by 2018, they would be able to unveil and provide America with a new line of biocomponents with the ability to mend, and reverse, formerly irreparable damage to the human body. Dubbed the 'Resurrection Project' by Blackwell, he claimed their work would be able to repair previously irreversible damage done to the body by disease, malignant growths, even regrow tissue or limbs. Blackwell had hopes that terminal illnesses and fatal injuries would, too, be solved by this work, citing this project as his 'magnum opus' and 'what he's been working for all along'.
While the details of how all this would be possible have not been published, Blackwell had promised by early 2018, 'life will no longer be something we have to fight for, but rather enjoy', with the release of his radical creation.
See more of the 'Resurrection Project' here.
Aside from Blackwell Corp, Killian Blackwell was known to be a pillar of New York City and America's economy. Blackwell was known for his numerous generous charity events and donations spread across as many sources as he could. He also established several charities of his own, and methods of supporting lower and middle-class America, which he saw as 'the backbone of everything I stand upon'. Several of these projects included Hearts to Homes, the newly innovated Manhattan Children's Hospital, and the Delaney Fund, named for his late wife. Blackwell was dubbed affectionately 'The People's Billionaire' by several sources, and while some saw this as a publicity stunt, most recognised the kind, entirely selfless heart of Killian Blackwell.
The reason behind Blackwell's sudden demise is unclear, but the cause has been declared a suicide by NYPD's Gold. Gold stated in hasty press conference last night, 'it is with a heavy heart, I have to declare Killian Blackwell dead. We have every reason to believe this death was self-inflicted, and have discovered no foul play'.

This tragedy sets a bleak shadow across America, for several reasons.
Blackwell leaves behind not only a multi-trillion dollar legacy and unfinished promises to 'heal the world from the darkness of death', but two daughters, now orphaned. Blackwell's wife, beloved socialite and philanthropist Delaney Winters-Blackwell, was killed in a brutal car accident six years ago. Her death was seen as a catalyst for Blackwell: he threw himself into charity, claiming he wished to do, 'everything Del wasn't able to accomplish before her time was up'.
Delaney Winters-Blackwell was quite the controversial individual, at her time of death. Winters-Blackwell was also a pillar of New York City's social scene, and most considered her quite selfless and kind-hearted as well. However, her autopsy revealed blood alcohol levels of 0.31%, as well as an unnamed substance also in her system that impaired her driving and evidently caused the crash that ended her life. While Winters-Blackwell was the only casualty and the other vehicle's passengers were unharmed, the Blackwell name was heavily tarnished after news broke of their matriarch's carelessness and substance abuse.
However, despite the controversy in Winters-Blackwell's passing, Killian Blackwell remained loving and steadfast to his passed wife, and 'forever grateful for the blessings she gifted him with', referring to his two daughters, Mariana and Katherine. His daughters seem to be the only heirs to everything their father leaves behind, as most of the Blackwell family suffered from young, tragic deaths. The only other surviving member, Jaspar Blackwell, was very publicly disowned from his name in 1993 due to his 'illegal, immoral and impudent behaviors done against the Blackwell name', according to late father William Blackwell. Said former-Blackwell has not been heard from since.

Blackwell's oldest daughter, Mariana, is not in the public eye and seems to be living a quiet life with her husband. It is unclear how closely she still associates with the Blackwell name and branding. The second daughter, Katherine Blackwell, is only sixteen and a current honor's student at Midtown High. Both daughters were equally adored by their father, who stated often that, 'everything [he] do[es], is done for [his] children'.
Blackwell dedicated his 2013 Nobel Peace Prize to his late wife and his daughters, his youngest especially being a, 'beacon of hope for what [he] think[s] the future is going to look like'. Though the Blackwell home life remained notoriously private and speculated upon, Killian Blackwell never hesitated to speak proudly of his children and what he hoped they would accomplish.
No statement has been made by either Blackwell daughter, but a statement was issued by Blackwell Corp early this morning, reading,
" We all grieve for the loss of the ingenious that was Killian Blackwell.
Few greater have been seen in this lifetime, or in many before. We ask
you to be kind and respect his family and friends who are mourning
the loss of this kind, good-hearted force. Any who wish to remember
Killian, we ask you to make a donation to the Delaney Fund, which
works to support impoverished families in need. "
