Chapter 20.

"No... no!! No!!!! I'm not continuing doing this with you anymore. I want out." My dad is drowning in sweat.

"Nah old man! Aren't nobody backing up in this game." Nav is holding my dad down flat on the table with his one arm and the other is straggling my dad's neck. They have unbuttoned his work uniform and there is a sharp black knife resting next to him on the table.

"We came too far you might as well be on our side." Owen says. What is this cube saying? He has a cigar in his mouth and a light in his right hand he flick of the top of the lighter with his thumb and let's out a huge puff of smoke in my dad's face. Anyway what does he know he looks young? Who is this guy?

"What...?" I say without thinking and I wipe my eye thoroughly for clarity. Everyone looks at me. Nav quickly gets off of my dad. Every ounce of anger increases to a level I never thought it could reach but it's there I feel the entitlement. I feel nauseous everything just doesn't add up the room is spinning my head is lazily fuzzy.

"Dale!!" He doesn't know what to say I've got him off guard. "Wha... what.. umh what are you... doing here?" He stutters.

"You work here what else would I be doing here!" I state the obvious. Doesn't he know that!! Just as I'm about to clear my confusion and came to talk to him about what has been bothering me my guts tells me otherwise.

"You shouldn't be here. You mom must be worried sick about you."

"No! They shouldn't be here." I point at the five men standing before me. Nav and Owen raise their brows and looks at me.

"Uhm... I think that it'd be best if you leave...-" he is rudely interrupted.

"Long time no see Daniel" he rolls his eyes. The five of them chuckle. "You should listen to your parent." He instructs.

"My name is Dale!" I correct him. "I'll leave when my dad tells me too!"

"Oh yea." He challenges and looks at my father.

"Dale you should leave! Now!" He half shouts.

"What? No ways" I refuse my eyes shoots blazers in their master's eyes. Nothing is working they can only be one possible explanation to this my blazers must have ran out of commandment.

"Dale!? Leave now!!! Go!" I get a feeling that he doesn't want to repeat himself. "I'll explain this game you thought you understood at home! Okay!?" I do just that. I step outside the door and close it, attach my ear against the door. Good thing that silver label is gone. Why aren't they saying anything?

"Dale we can still see that you there." I look down. Damn my shadow. "Tell Ronda that I'll be arriving late tonight." I grits my teeth.

"I like your kid Frank he seems like a good boy." I hear them say as I walk out. Now they want to talk! Come on.

He said that they were only playing! Is he fucken kidding me do I look that stupid to him? Tell your mother I'll be coming late tonight!! He said I groan, Let me leave him out for now my mother will know what to do with him. Was Nav actually hovering all over my dad? The same man that was laughing with him months ago? The same man that called my dad their meal ticket? The same man that taught my dad how to lie to his wife? The thing that upsets me the most is the way the were shouting at my dad like they own him that they did not hear me walk through the door just makes my stomach tighten. My feet are pointing to my home what should I do with this little information I have in my hands? Should I tell my mom? Hell yea. I think it is time for her to know we can't live like this fear should not be a factor in our family. I don't want to go to school always looking back or wondering when the next shoot might take place.

The walk from the workshop was short. I traipsed all the way to my gate. I stand on the lobby and let out a huge breath before going in and telling my mom what my eyes told me. I hold the silver knob then turn in, step in.

"Mom!" I call out to her. "Mom!?" I repeat.

"Where have you been Dale you are fifteen minutes late." He comes through the kitchen doorway with a knife in her hand and a potato in the other. My poor trustworthy mother here she is cooking for that not-to-be-trusted pathetic man it really breaks my heart.

"Mom we need to talk."

"Yes! Yes we do." She agree but I don't think that she knows what I want to talk to her about. "Can I finish cutting the potatoes first?"

"No mama this is serious."

"Sounds serious."

"Because it is." My hands fly in the air my patience is getting slim. She nods.

She goes back in the kitchen then comes out with nothing in her hands. I suspend she went in there to put the potatoes in the water to prevent it from oxidation.

"Mom! I went to dad's workshop and I did not approve to what I saw I still don't condemn it and I should have told you this earlier but please promise me not to freak out." I press on the word please because I know what's coming. She nods for me to continue and not to the promise she has to keep.

I basically tell her everything from the time I saw my dad laughing with Nav. From the times she always caught me snooping around in their bedroom and lied to them saying I was looking for a comb when I was in actual fact going through their stuff to find clues to my missing pieces of the puzzle. I tell her that I found Dad's journal but the problem was that the money was not adding up he was making six times more than the income he was supposed to earn, proving my suspicions of drugs I'm still not sure though I may be wrong. my mother can't argue with me I'm very good at accounting and last but not least today when my dad was on his last breath but still lied about it.

"Oh dear my boy." I'm worn out I need to recharge.
