Black Butler AU

Y/n's POV

I was stretching my hand and staying as far away as possible from the stove while still trying to turn the damned fried chicken on the pan. No, I wasn't a maid which is why I am wondering why I need to do this.

I was a daughter of a rich family. We're not exactly the richest in town but we were wealthy enough to employ a dozen of butlers and maids. Instead, here I was trying to flip the meat trying so hard to not let my hand get close to the pan with the fear of the droplets of oil hit me.

I had a red-head butler beside me enjoying this situation unfolding in front of his eyes. I could feel him smirking and holding his laugh without even turning around. He was the only one we had but his family had been our past butlers for as long as we know.

I can still remember his sweet grandfather never letting me do work on my own and asking what I need from time to time. It didn't mean that I was that spoiled to the bone. I still have my experience with a lot of things as being the daughter of high-status man didn't let me go without that.

I met this butler a few months ago when Akabane-san had retire due to old age. You would think that since his grandfather was as nice as a cinammon roll and was a great gentleman.

He was the exact opposite actually. He had red hair, mercury eyes and was close to my age. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find him the least but attractive. I think that I might have a little crush on him but it doesn't stop me from being annoyed at him at times.

Anyways, I was snapped out of my thoights when I smelled something burning. I shook my head and stared at what I was cooking. It was burning alright. I could see the black spots forming on the chicken's skin.

"Y/n, you go and do this morning's breakfast. It's just reheating chivken from last night's dinner." She shook me and poured a glass of cold water on my head.

I suddenly jolted up and wondered what was going on. I narrowed my eyes when I saw my mother beside me smiling innocently well that's what she aimed it to be. But I could feel the glint in her eyes.

I once again shook my head as I heard laughing and my hands being taken away from the tongs. He took the chicken off the pan and placed on the dog's food.

It was good that I was just experimenting and was reheating one chicken. I sighed deeply disappointed in myself. I liked the idea of cooking but with no one guiding me I can never cook for my own.

I remember when I was a few years younger, my mother would guide me and let me help her when she was cooking but I could never do it on my own.

I felt Karma turn his head on me slightly as he continued on reheating the chicken. "Y/n-chan~ It's fine not to be expert at cooking... You won't need it as you become the heir to your father's business."

It was kinda weird recieving comfort from Karma and I spoked to soon because a second later he had something to say that definitely got me hitting his head and walking away.

"But forget about being an expert you can't even reheat a chicken~" He teased and I did not like any part of it so I stormed off after hitting him. I sat diwn at the dining table waiting for breakfast to be served.

Noticing my angry expression my parents decided not talk about it yet 'til I calm down. They have learned that for the past few months exactly the time Karma was here.

I calmed myself down thinking about nice things, the sky, the sun, the beautiful morning and the rooster crowing... Rooster, chicken...

That was what we were having this morning. A reheated chicken... Why were we even reheating food when we had the money to just go and buy some more? Oh yeah mother said we can't waste food since many are starving.

Mother... Breakfast... Reheated chicken... I felt heat rise into my head and I slammed my hand down on the table. My parents jumped at the sudden action and looked at me as if I weirded them out.

"Y/n-chan~ It's bad manners to slam your hand on the table so suddenly like that." I felt Karma wisphered on my ear so quietly.

I shrugged it off and cleared my throat. We ate our meals and discussed that I had to go meet the Phantomhive Earl at their manor to partner with their company. They said that I had to go alone with Karma because they also had things to take care of. I just nodded and went on my way to start freshing up.

I hopped off the carraige with the help of Karma. I rang the door bell and was welcomed by a dashing butler with peircing red eyes and black hair.

"Welcome, dear guest. We hope you enjoy your stay on the Phantomhive manor. The young master is right this way." (A/n: I'm not sure if that's how he does it. It's been long hehe) The butler smiled and led me to the room of the said earl.

Karma stood behind me and was very behaved which I know he could do since he was well trained but seeing it in real life makes it seem not impossible for this guy to act like a gentleman and not a prankster running around teasing people.

"I see, Ms. L/n, the daughter of the L/n family has come in place of her parents." I think that he was judging me a little even though his every part of him scream attractiveness so I decided to retort back a little.

"Yes, I was sent here as my parents had to also attend some business but I am quite well-trained and now what I'm doing. Please refrain from degrading me because of my age because we are both on the same time of our youth." I kept my head cool down but I wasn't going to let him insult me. Keeping my anger in check was easy as it was Karma's job to perfectly test the limits of that every single day.

"I see. Shall we play a bit of a game as we discuss our partnership?" He smirks and orders his butler to set up the chess board.

I sat down in front of him. I sweatdropped. I wasn't clueless on chess but I was also not an expert on it. I could only play at an average level and I take so long when it was my turn.

I smiled nervously as I moved my first pawn as I was white. Karma moved a little beside me but still behind me to see how I was going to do, he was probably going to tease me afterwards.

After I few minute I already lost. I widened my eyes as my king had nowhere left to go and I facepalmed myself. "One more time." I get quite frustrated when I play and would do anything to get revenge.

We had talked about the partnership but I guess I had too much fun that I was just commenting on how it was hard being an heir and worrying about how to manage the company and he would retort with something along the lines of how weak I am and I should just try and do it. I would shrugged it off but I do know that he was slightly right.

"I see you have left your king in a vulnerable place again Y/n. Checkmate~" He smirks with those mesmerizing face of his.

I pouted and asked for another rematch. We were on our tenth game when Karma suddenly interrupted smiling although I knew that smile spelled out annoyance. He served us tea and cake. With a little extra force whenever he picked or put down something.

"Is something the matter with your butler? Is he uncomfortable?" He was also feigning concern as he has a dead look and his eyes considering how well he was doing it, he probably did have a lot of experience.

"I don't think so, Ciel. I guess he's just tired?" I didn't care because the cake was so good that I really couldn't stop eating it. I could see Karma's eyebrow twitch in annoyance at being ignored. I didn't want to leave yet though.

"About the partnership with the Funtom Company?" It was as if I could feel venom dripping with every word he said.

"Ah yes of course, I have decided that it would also be profitable for us if the L/n company cooperated with us." He said but as if timed the room shook as he finished his words.

Something exploded downstairs 'causing the room to shake. I felt myself falling down and I closed my eyes expecting the ground. Something more like someone broke my fall. I opened one eye and saw Ciel rubbing his head and looking at me through one eye.

The sudden shake caused me to fall on top of him with my face so close to him. I stared at his face as he looked at me with his eye. (Made sure to not to make it plural XD)

I blushed a little from the closeness and the heat rose up to his cheeks too. Before I could even move a muscle, I felt my body being taken away from him. I looked at Karma and was going to stop him but he cut me off. "We have achieved the purpose of our visit and we must now leave. The security of this place is now undefined."

He looked angry but he held me in his arms and looked straighgt forward. He muttered under his breath. "I'll show you who you belong to."

Extra~

"Bard!! What are you doing?? Sebastian-san is going to scold you again for using the kitchen." Mey-Rin shouted as she tried to clean up the mess.

The gardener and other butler came around to see what was happening. Although Finny ran too fast and ended up breaking precious dishes. Tanaka-san remained calmed and sipped his tea.

Sebastian soon came and gave of a demonic smile.

And that was the end of the three troublesome helpers.
